My girlfriend and I decided to try Tasca after a recommendation from our realtor and the generally positive online reviews. Their website is well designed and showcases several best of boston awards - however we became a bit suspicious to find the most recent award 5 years old. Oh well, cant expect to win every year I suppose. We came in early and were given a seat promptly. The environment was cozy and inoffensive. The menu even appeared simple, seasonal, and appetizing. We initially ordered 3 tapas and expected to order more, but we were so astounded by how mediocre the dishes were that we decided not to spend any more money, and left promptly. The food was certainly not BAD, but it was clear that they were using low quality / frozen ingredients, and the preparation/flavors were inoffensive, but certainly not worth the hype they received in nearly every review we had encountered. I emphasize again: this is not bad food. Though I can easily imagine Tasca catering a college cafeteria without having to compromise their budget for ingredients. All Im saying is that its certainly not worth the hype it has received thus far.

There were seven of us and twenty five dishes. Talk about a great dinner. We started off with twenty of the savory tapas - ranging from the chicken and chorizo to the smoked salmon. Most of the dishes were good, a few were okay. The "Los Tres Amigos" sausages had a small, but nice kick to them. The "pincho de pollo y chorizo" skewers were a table favorite as well - a nice blend of moist chicken and chorizo with peppers and onions. We wrapped it up with about five desserts. The crepe with ice cream was okay - ice cream was great but the crepe was hard. The Oreo cake with milk toffee and bananas sounded more promising than the delivery. The cookie base was hard and difficult to split and also a bit dry. It would had been better had it been layered with a brownie, fudge, or something to give it extra moisture. We had a couple others as well, but my favorite was the molten hot chocolate pudding! No need for an explanation. Service was good. Dishes came out rapidly. The manager was very friendly. What else can you ask for?

Ive been to Tasca 2-3 years ago, and I remember loving the tapas dishes that my girl friends and I ordered along with our pitcher of red sangria. I went recently with my boyfriend on a Thursday (only Monday-Wednesday are $5 tapas/$10 sangria pitcher nights). I have to say - the quality of their food is so much worse than I remember. I like very flavorful foods, especially in my tapas dishes, and there really werent any flavor in any of the plates we ordered. The bread that came in the beginning should have been toasted, or buttered, or something. The red pepper hummus that they placed with the bread was so dry and really did not add anything to the already dry bread. The pitcher of white sangria was good. If you do come here, it would be much better to come Monday-Wednesday when they have their dishes for cheaper. Sign up for their emails! Otherwise, we paid over $60 for a very "meh" meal. A lot of of their dishes lacked flavor, spice, and quality.

I used to live a few blocks from this restaurant after college. They are not over the top expensive, but Its a little tough to frequent this place on a college budget. Still, it is well worth it. I moved out of state about 7 years ago and this is the one restaurant that stayed with me. I have yet to find a comparible Tapas restaurant since my last visit. Im planning a trip this fall and this is the only restaurant I have on my "must see" list. If youre visiting I recommend taking the train as parking is a pain in the area. If you must park there was a Wholefoods on Washington St that used to have free parking. Otherwise take the Green Line B train to Washington St.

I love Tasca. It is right around the corner from me and they definitely do their best to maintain their neighborhood atmosphere in a sophisticated way. They provide a great 3 course option that is very reasonably priced during the week as well as their signature tapas. The food is really excellent. The one thing that is a little tricky is that the tables are so close together that it makes it hard to sit sometimes particularly in winter when coats are involved. They offer great sangria and a good wine list. Definitely a place to try!

Tasca was one of the first Tapas restaurants I tried when I moved to Brighton and is still one of my favorite. The tapas menu is large enough to accommodate picky eaters, and they also have a great sangria. If you join the email list they will occasionally send promos for discounted sangria pitchers or wine. They offer valet parking or you can usually park yourself at the end of the whole foods parking lot around the corner. Id suggest making a reservation because there tends to be a wait on most nights during prime dinner hours.

Well be moving out of Brighton and away from Tasca soon, and a sad sad day that will be. My fiancé and I had our first(ish) date here and even came for dinner with family on the day we got engaged! The food is always great and the prices are the best around, especially for the quality youre getting. We couldnt give a higher recommendation for this place, you wont be disappointed! If youre local, sign up to get emails, they give you good monthly deals. Well miss you Tasca, and will hopefully be back again soon!

Yes, it is relatively inexpensive, but certainly in this case, you get what you pay for. You will be rushed through your meal with the pre-prepared, pre-cooked tapas flying out of the kitchen to your table, the alacrity with which they arrive only matched by the blandness of their taste. This is the place for 20-somethings with uneducated palates, thinking they are experiencing the real thing. There are much better places around Boston for only a little more money and with a lot more character and flavor.

Id recommend Tasca for the ambience alone - classy, cozy, and romantic! The food is great too. My friend and I had the 3-sausage plate, baked brie and apple, goat cheese in puff pastry with a roasted red pepper sauce, and amazing garlicky shrimp. The dessert was an Oreo/caramel/banana pie(?), and it was decadent. They have $10 pitchers of sangria from Thursday through Sunday as well! Cute little place in Allston. Reservations are recommended but may not be necessary.

Fun, yet warm/cozy/intimate place for a first date -- during the school year, expect to see plenty of Boston College students. Worth the trip, if you dont live around the area. Two-thumbs up! Pro Tip: Sign up for their e-mail list (seriously -- its worth it) to hear when the Flamenco crew is in town, plus you get cheaper pitchers and three-course specials. Take the remaining wine home when the evening is over. Highlights: Cheap Valet Parking, Live Flamenco, Sangria.

Although we had a reservation, we had to wait twenty minutes or so from the time we arrived (or about fifteen minutes from the time of the reservation) to be seated; we were also seated right by the door, which slammed loudly whenever someone came in. That said, the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced for a restaurant of this type, and while there was only one vegetarian entree, if youre just doing tapas the vegetarian options are varied and delicious.
