Best BBQ in Boston! This no frills restaurant offers all your BBQ needs: pulled pork, brisket, chicken, sausage, and ribs. All of which you can get on a sandwich or a platter (I recommend the platter if you have the appetite). The star of the menu though is definitely the Kansas City Burnt Ends, which is smoked brisket cooked in BBQ sauce. All their meats have a powerful smokey taste while remaining juicy and tender enough that it doesnt even need extra sauce! But if you feel the need, they do offer their own BBQ sauces to smother your choice of meat in. Their sides cover the basics of any bbq joint; rice, beans, collards, potatoes, cole slaw, etc. And of course it wouldnt be complete without corn bread, which they provide plenty of! Blue Ribbon is top notch BBQ!

This is real deal BBQ. Great brisket sandwich and pulled pork. Had the smell of smoke on my hands for the better part of the day after eating the sandwich. Sides were terrific, too. We had mashed potatoes, rice and beans, BBQ beans, and cole slaw. Very generous servings. Seating is limited to stools along a counter, but Id eat this stuff standing up in the dark. And while I was there on a mid-day Saturday, I saw a fairly steady stream of people coming in to pick up orders they had phoned in, so if you dont want to risk standing, you can take this delectable fare home or to the office. This is well worth a stop if youre in the area, and well worth a trip if youre not.

After going to Austin TX area for work for 1-2 months, over the past 2 years, that exposed me to "real" Texas Brisket. Having been to Blue Ribbon twice since then I leave disappointed that this isnt Texas Brisket, but rather some imitation. At least tonights Brisket made a rating of 3 stars. Last time I would give it 1-2 stars when compared with real Texas Brisket. But from the standpoint that this isnt in Texas I get the 4+ star rating, just these people dont know any better. The 4+ star rating I would give for the "local" area only, as yes good Texas Brisket is hard to find around here.

Blue Ribbon is one of my favorite bbq places in all of Boston. The staff work quickly, the prices are fair, and the food is outstanding. I usually get the North Carolina pulled pork platter, which comes with two sides and corn bread. I love the sides of mashed potatoes and corn, they seem to be the best Ive come across even though they are such simple ingredients. After ordering there are a bunch of sauces available to try and I usually find a spicy and bbq sauce for dipping. They also offer their own pickles which are full of flavor and always go nicely with the bbq food.

Blue Ribbon is my favorite local barbecue restaurant. The regular menu is very good, but I like to stop in to check out the daily specials and sides. Theres always something yummy on the specials menu. They have a large variety of their barbecue sauces out for sampling when you visit in person. Service is fast, but the lines get long at dinner time and on weekends. The space itself is funky and relaxing, but its small, which is another reason to try and visit when its not too busy.

Legitimately comparable to Texan barbecue. I dont think youre going to be able to find anywhere better in Massachusetts. You can be happy ordering ANYTHING here and Im not overstating that. I recommend Johnnys combo, because its basically got everything on it, but you cant go wrong here. Great value for the portions they give you. If you eat a normal amount, itll cover dinner and lunch if youre into saving half of a sandwich and sides for later.

I love ribs however I am so reluctant to order them at the Newton store. Every time I do I get maybe two real ribs and these tiny little 3 inch bones with I would consider bits of dried cartllildge I worked as a young guy at a popular bb-q place and we always threw the little burnt ends in and didnt count them as a real rib. And the big guy with the dark hair and beard shouldnt be dealing with customers or handling food.

Love this BBQ. The traditional pulled pork with BBQ sauce is delicious. Most meals come with traditional Southern sides (cornbread, collard greens, coleslaw or baked beans). They also have lemonade and iced tea available in old-school looking canisters. If you are in the West Newton area and you are craving barbeque, I would recommend trying out Blue Ribbon. Theres a reason it is called Blue Ribbon.

The meat tastes and smells smoky, the collards have pork in them, and they have a nice variety of sauces. The downside is that its take out only and sometimes it can be hard to get through on the phone to order ahead (which you really should do so you dont have to wait once you get there). Anyway, this is much better BBQ than Red Bones or any of the other places around Boston Ive tried.

Sure the food itself is pretty good, I wont argue that... But what is the key ingredient with bbq? The Sauce. Blue Ribbons bbq sauce tastes like it was mixed from bbq flavored powder, and water. Its flavorless and watery. I always order this to go, and put Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce on it. So I have to give this 2 stars, Sweet Baby Rays bbq sauce brings it up to 5 stars!

Horrible horrible horrible! Food all pre cooked. Tough dried out cold chicken on 3 day old cold stale roll. Stone cold tasteless cornbread, mushy over mayonnaised coleslaw, revolting overdone bacon cheeseburger cooked ahead and barely heated in microwave. Sullen cashier. We left disgusted soon after sitting down. NEVER NEVER NEVER would recommend this place.

11 years of being a loyal customer. This BBQ is literally perfect. It doesnt even need a long review. I would run out of descriptive words and expressions. Simple is best, just like Blue Ribbon. I am a HUGE supporter of this small franchise and they deserve the best of the best success for having the most perfect BBQ and food options. They are so wonderful...

MA is not known for BBQ. This place is a good example. The service was okay, but the food....not impressed. Brisket was at least decent, & the portions of food were good. The dirty rice was a major fail as well as the baked beans. The cobbler was a good concept, but poorly executed. Ill stick to to the south for comfort food & seafood up north.

Every time we go here, it is as good as the last. I woke up this morning with a fever. BBQ Fever. The only cure is Blue Ribbon BBQ. Always fresh and hot! The potato and cuke salads are always perfectly seasoned! Do yourself a favor and patronize this establishment regularly! Everything is made here, by proud caring people!

this place is the only BBQ in the Newton area. Ive frequented that place a lot back in mid-2000s. however this place has changed ownership (or management) and unfortunately quality of the ribs went down a bit since. still i go there occasionally when in the area. ribs might not be great anymore but still decent.

Best BBQ Ive ever had hands down. I used to go here for lunch all the time when I lived in Newton and now will make the trip just to come here! They have affordable platters if you want a quick meal, or you can order in bulk and bring a bunch home to potentially get fat off of or feed the family!
