The atmosphere is great, whether indoors or out, its probably the best spot in Roslindale. The drinks, as others have mentioned, are also well done. Unfortunately, things go downhill from there. My girlfriend and I went for dinner on a Tuesday night and waited 20 minutes before anyone came to offer us drinks. Although I thought this was a miscommunication amongst the waitstaff, it happened again to a party of five the sat behind us a little later! Thankfully, the manager graciously took the first round of drinks off our bill when we said something. We actually contemplated walking over to Delfino for our meal after the slow service. We ended up staying to try the food after all. The crab cakes were tasty especially with the relish provided on the side, but I dont know if they were quite $11 tasty. The roasted chicken was moist but way underseasoned. The asparagus (vegetable of the day) was plain and slightly soggy. If the Birch Street crew is listening, try brushing olive oil or sesame seed oil on the asparagus then sprinkle some kosher salt on it and broil it in the oven for about 4 minutes. Its a much better preparation. The potatoes, again, were underseasoned. On the plus side, my girlfriend found her scallops to be seared fairly well but they erred on the side of undercooked. Though the service was friendly, it was slow. As others have recommended go for drinks but have your dinner at Delfino.

Went on a Tuesday night at 8PM - party of 5. Not many tables full but took 15 minutes before someone (not our server) came over for drink orders - about another 10 minutes for the drinks to be delivered by our server who had no idea who ordered what so she was reaching across people to put them down. Another 20 minutes to take our order. Pear and Blue Cheese Salad was very good as was the Haddock. Two people ordered the lamb chop and they were told it was served medium rare which was fine with them - what arrived was over well done, dry, tough and tasteless. Silverware was not replaced after salad/appetizer course - but pulled off the plates and left on the table dirty. One fork was caked with stuff which the server actually tried to scrape off at the table before she gave up and took it away. It was not replaced until we asked for it. We ordered desert, coffeefor two and cappachinos for three - the desert came first, then 5 minutes later the coffee for 2 people and the cappachinos arrived at the table at least 20 minutes after the desert had been served - at that point we were one of only 2 tables left. Wonder what they do when its busy. Very cute place with great music but dont know if I would try again. Appears these problems are not new and not being addressed.

Long wait (as usual) to get into Delfinos in Roslindale, it was suggested that we wait at the bar at Birch St. Bistro around the corner. It looked nice, as did the menu, so we decided that wed try it soon. We did, and now we go there instead of Delfinos! Yes, I know the cuisine is completely different, but at BSB we get great food and friendly service, its not too expensive, and we generally have little to no wait. We cant stand the wait -- and the attitude -- at Delfinos, but were forever indebted to them for sending us to BSB!

We have been going to the Bistro for years and it never disappoints! Recently we took friends who are real foodies and they loved the Bistro. So much so we went back this past Friday, April 8th. Again, we had a fantastic meal, and wonderful drinks. Our waitress was great she was very helpful as we had a gluten and tree nut allergy in the party. I live on the South Shore, but grew up in Roslindale, so when I go to the Bistro it is like going home....really no place like it. It is a must try you will not be disappointed.

WAS THERE LAST NIGHT. AGREE THAT THE SERVICE WAS A BIT SLOW, BUT THE FOOD AND THE ATMOSPHERE WAS FANTASTIC. THE OWNER DID TAKE THE TIME THOUGH TO STOP BY OUR TABLE AND MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS GOOD, VERY WELCOMING! GREAT ENTERTAINMENT! I JUST WISH I DID NOT HAVE TO RUSH OUT OF THERE, EVERYONE WAS HAVING SUCH A BLAST WITH THE LIVE MUSIC AND ALL. I AM ALREADY PLANNING TO CHECK IT OUT AGAIN WITH MY FRIENDS SOMETIME SOON...

What a wonderful and fantastic restaurant. Downtown Boston style food in urban atmosphere. Interior decoration is absolutely superb. Back deck, great staff, they could have a larger selection of beer but its okay. Mostly protein-based entrees... Their daily specials are amazing. Their meats are typically cooked to perfection with awesome style and presentation. If you live near here I highly suggest you take a visit..

A great little place in Roslindale village, make reservations as it fills up. They are very catering to children, and part of the reason we have been going here for years. My husband loves the steak salad, and excellent pizzas and soups. Excellent waitstaff, and the outside patio is fun when its warm enough.

Simply amazing food- had to give 4 stars because the chairs werent comfortable but that doesnt effect the taste of the food, but the over experience. The grilled pork chop is nice, and when it is matched with Coconut almond dessert- and I HATE coconut- it becomes a masterpiece, great place for a second date.

I recently brought the whole family for a meal out. There was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious, the portions were ample, and the drinks were well made. The waitress was very attentive, and there wasnt too long of a wait, either. Ill be back the next time Im in town.

This is a business I believe thats run with pride. They do a great job really well. Great restaurant great food great staff great local. I think its gutsy they picked a small curved side street to place their store front. Im impressed.

Eclectic American bistro fair at reasonable to slightly high price point. Service is always on point and the food/drinks are always tasty. If the weather is nice, ask for one of the patio tables.
