Im from Austin, TX traveling in Lowell on business and looking for a nice place to eat on a corporate budget. No offense intended but my friends at home laughed at my decision to try Mexican food in MA. But Casablanca was just awesome! I ordered the Beef Fajita Tacos and they were better than most places we have in the south at a price a family can afford. Mexican food is traditionally a simple presentation of your entree with rice/beans served on the side. Its not supposed to be complicated and Casablanca didnt overwork the meal like some of these "art food" restaurants. Three beef tacos lightly seasoned with grilled onions and bell peppers served wrapped in thin flour tortillas with refried beans, seasoned rice, sour cream and guacamole on the side. Most excellent! Sometimes the Mexican food in the south can get pretty loud but the plate I had at Casablanca was smooth and mild with lots of great flavors. If spicy hot food isnt your thing, Casablancas seasoning will not offend you. The prices were a couple bucks more than I was used to paying in Austin and I originally explained that away as the cost of doing business in MA. But I was wrong. The plate was huge! I could have almost fed two people on this serving. When compared to portion size and taste Casablanca is a total bargain. If you are a family of 4 and everybody orders a plate you will definitely be taking leftovers home. But thats OK because if youre like me you wont mind taking it to work for lunch the next day. Wednesday night is Mariachi night and the band was excellent. I love that music! Service was attentive without being intrusive and I have absolutely no complaints. This is the best place in town for an excellent meal at a reasonable price.

This restaurant is in a great location. It is easy to get to from Chelmsford, Lowell, and Billerica. So, my wife and I were both really excited when this place opened up just down the road from us. But the food was really disappointing. To get things started, we ordered a couple of frozen Margaritas but they were foamy and way too sweet--- obviously from a cheap store-bought mix. The tortilla chips were light and crispy, but the salsa was sour and loaded with salt. Worst of all, my pork carnitas were made from dry, sliced pork that had been re-heated in a bland cream sauce --- just awful. The pork was really hard and dehydrated, the way leftover meat gets when it has been sitting in the fridge for a couple of days. The refried beans were tasty, but the guacamole had an unappetizing brown tinge. Service was mediocre at best. The waiter got our order in quickly, but never checked back to see if we wanted anything else during our meal. The locals seem to have already caught on to the poor food and spotty service, because the place was practically empty at 7 PM and we had no problem finding a parking spot right near the front door (I missed that red flag)! Nothing made us sick, but that is about the best thing that I can say about this place. If they cannot get a decent chef and also improve their service, I predict that Casablanca will be closed by the end of the year. It is really too bad, because we need a good Mexican restaurant in this area.

Margaritas were OK, Methuen location is far better. Ordered the Mexicali Chimichanga with pork. One bite in and I came to find it was virtually raw, barely cooked in the center and pink all throughout the rest. My girlfriend couldnt finish the other half of her Casa Burrito after seeing that. After stating the issue to the waitress, she cleared our plates and shortly after the manager on duty came to our table. And tried justifying the meal by saying it must be the seasoning they use that gives it that color. And that when the meat is closest to the bone it tends to be pinker in color and on and on. Nothing for nothing, but I would have been fine with a simple apology for an uncooked meal. But to have the audacity to stand there and tell me how different pork cuts cook different colors, is just ridiculous. I refuse to eat here again, and I advise anyone who orders pork, pink is not meant for pork, mostly for steaks. But anyone with half a brain would know that. Im guessing this was something he read in their Restaurant Manager 101 handbook.

I grew up in california eating food that people from Jalos and Michoacan made and after eating at casablanca I realized that god does exist because he answered my prayers to have mexicans on the east coast....... This place is THE best in Mass for mexican food. the Pork Carnitas are superb and the Carne Asada Tacos are even better. I have spoke with the owner on a few occasions about making me Menudo. (Mexican Soup) She is very kind and the waiters and waitresses are very friendly.... Go indulge into some authentic food

I dont know what everyone else reviewing this restaurant is smoking.. Service is great, food is really lackluster. First they serve you cold chips from a bag, and salsa I could have bought at Wal-Mart. Everything about the ambience screams tacky-as-hell, unauthentic, why-didnt-I-just-go-to-Margaritas-when-I-thought-I-was-going-to-a-nice-four-star-restaurant. Food is bleh. It didnt kill me, but nothing about it made me excited. Ive made better mexican food in 10 minutes at my house.

This is a temporary rating. I know they can do better. But during my last visit I was sitting at my table for 10 minutes at a very quiet time, not many guests at all and my waiter did not even show up to say hi or take my order. I will revisit my rating next time. In a good restaurant like this, such events should not happen.

One of my favorite restaurants, the food is amazing, not too pricey and the people are great. Having just come back from San Miguel, Mexico, I can say that this place makes me feel like I am back in that wonderful city. Bonus: Wednesday nights they have a live mariachi band that will play for your table.

Good enough food, though not exceptional, and reasonably priced. We found it quite annoying that (a) the drink menu was completely without prices (b) the waiter didnt know the prices, but (c) told us that the "house" marguerita was around $7.00-$7.50. We passed on ordering one.

Decent Mexican food for the suburbs, and the atmosphere is pleasant enough. The portions are large and its pretty cheap. We went here with a large group, and they do take reservations. The Margaritas and other mixed drinks are okay, though simply standard.

Its the only Mexican place in Billerica and has free chips and salsa! The food is usually good and the staff are friendly. I like the carne asada plate. My wife usually gets the burrito (and it is huge). The place is pretty kid friendly and offers crayons.

Food was ehhhhh ok. I asked for just a plain margarita with salt none of the specials. My drink was almost 13 $$$$ and my meal was 14$$. Really?!? And it was not that great a drink. If I lived here which I dont I would not be back.

If you are looking for Mexican food this is one of the only places to come in the area. Ive been here a few times and only one time my steak fajitas were a bit under cooked. But they are pretty consistent with their food and service.
