This past week we ordered "take out" from Rice Valley. Wed done so in late winter and enjoyed a delicious “take out” meal. Our latest order was Crab Rangoon, Crispy Sesame Chicken, Pork with Black Bean Sauce and Pork Fried Rice. With the exception of the crab rangoon, the rest of the meal was a big, big disappointment. We couldn’t believe the food had come from the same restaurant. The Crispy Sesame Chicken wasn’t crispy, with a gummy coating and meat so tough you needed a steak knife to cut it. The Pork Fried Rice was overcooked and greasy. There was no pork with Black Bean Sauce. Instead there was a very chewy beef with Red and Green Peppers and it was too late to go back to exchange it. This was a most unhappy dining experience. Too bad too for we like Chinese food very much and doubt if well try the restaurant again.

Really weird egg rolls. Some minced green stuffing that tasted mostly like celery. No meat, no bean sprouts, no typical egg roll ingredients. It was like a bad hot pocket. We tried dipping them in the duck sauce and then in the mustard, but that didnt help. The soups were just okay. Egg drop soup was like something out of a can. No green onions, no real flavor. Hot&sour soup was fair. Entres were also nothing special. Chicken lo mein was decent. Sichuan broccoli and string beans was supposed to be spicy but was just slathered in brown sauce. No rice included with the entre. The vibe of the place was blah, too. Most of the people there were at the bar to watch a game on their big screen tv. Overall, we were really disappointed with the visit. We wont be going back.

Ive eaten in number of restaurant in several Chinatowns both in US and Europe and the "bok choy with black mushrooms" (tong-qu) is the closest to the kind Ive been used to in Hong Kong. The "general gaus chicken" was also spicy and good but not exceptional. We ordered take-out that took less than 30 minutes to be delivered on weekday evening in poor weather, which was faster than our favorite pizza usually takes. I highly recommend.

I would like to start with the atmosphere of this restaurant. The lighting is near perfect, not to bright nor is it too dark. Beautiful decor Im always tempted to take something when the waitstaff isnt lookin. Food was delicious and it didnt take long to leave the kitchen. My favorite part about Rice Valley is not the decor, the waitstaff or the food. Its the tiny dice sized salt and pepper shakers on the tables.

I enjoy Rice Valleys take on Chinese food -- the ingredients are fresh and the dishes are lighter than typical Chinese fare. The restaurant itself is classy and welcoming, although families with children arent as prevalent as you might expect. Service is prompt and attentive, and their carry-out service is a great option as well.

They dont make a real PuPu platter with the flames anymore. They removed the lobster tank because of the Newton PETA Libtards and the food is served way too quickly now which is a red flag.

This is the best gourmet Chinese fare in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. By Far. Ive only eaten in here once but for last 10 years have gotten takeout from here and it is great.

My husband and I found this place a couple of years ago, and have been introducing friends to it ever since. Great food. When we eat in, the service is very attentive.

Everything we ordered was prepared just a little better than the best version of it weve ever had. Totally recommend this place for an awesome dining experience.

Half the dining room is under construction. Allegedly a sushi bar, but it looks awkward and ugly with a floor to ceiling tarp.
