We decided to try another place as our favorite Italian restaurant in East Providence recently closed. I used to frequent the North end in Boston each weekend when I lived on the North Shore and I can honestly say La Familias food, expansive menu and wine list rival any North End restaurant .. and without the travel. The service was impeccable and attentive. Tanany our server was engaging , fun and knowledgeable. We arrived without a reservation and were seated on the mezzanine level which was private and intimate. Its our new favorite. I cant wait to return!

Ones experience shouldnt change it for others. The staff was very nice and the atmosphere was nice, no complaints there. My issue was the food I ordered, the Portuguese steak, terrible is the only way to describe it. First off was the dish was something more akin to Taco bell, not Portuguese. The topped egg was still runny, like clear runny. The sauce was nothing authentic to Portuguese, also the amount made it more like a stew. I will definitely try again at some point but will surely skip the Portuguese steak next time.

Came here with family to celebrate a graduation. (7 of us). We were seated promptly. Server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was outstanding. A wonderful experience for all of us. I am giving it a 4 because when they list off the specials they dont give you prices. There were a couple of specials that appealed to me, but since I wasnt paying for it, I was too embarrassed to ask. (Its a bit pricey but worth every penney.) I would definitely recommend if you like Italian food.

We went for a larger group gathering and were not disappointed. They have a wonderful upstairs dining room they were able to accommodate us in so we would mingle before eating. The food was filling and cooked perfectly. The menu (and servers) clearly state what is gluten sensitive and what is not and they do allow you to substitute gluten free pasta for their regular pasta for an upcharge. Would return for a date night meal here.

Numerous experiences here, but no matter how pleased with any place... I am SO not a review kinda girl! Who has time? Really though!? Exceptions are meant to be. Today at least. My personal and professional opinion... I love it here! I am a bit of an industry snob with high expectations. Been in the business too long, therefore not easily impressed. Yum. thank you. Delicious, well-made food! Excellent dinner service! Only complaint? We had a reservation, and still had to wait 5 minutes, and had a table in the middle of the place on the first floor. When I have a reservation anywhere, I expect to be seated right away (unless otherwise explained that there will be a minutes wait), and if there is a mezzanine level, I should be situated there.

Im tough when it comes to restaurants.. but let ME tell YOU.. i have never EVER been disappointed with a meal here. Fresh ingredients, friendly hard working staff (some more hard working than others but hey), EXTREMELY clean!!!, GREAT FOOD, GREAT ATMOSPHERE!! THANKYOU LA FAMILIA!!! You dont find a place like this often. The caprese salad.. GET IT HERE.. EVERYTIME

Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff and amazing food. The Portuguese calamari was delicious and portion sizes are large. Would have given it five stars however the noise level was very uncomfortable...the sound of chairs being moved above our heads on the second level was extremely annoying and distracting throughout the entire meal.

I met friends there for lunch. The food was good. It was not crowded there were plenty of empty tables, but we felt pressured to leave as soon as we finished eating. The maitre d kept coming over and asking if we wanted anything else to the point were we felt, "heres your hat, whats your hurry?"

Went there for lunch with my mom, sister, and niece and had a fabulously delicious meal. The Portuguese Calamari was so tasty, I could have made a meal of it. Highly recommend saving room for dessert as all of their desserts are homemade!

Our server was attentive, hot crusty bread was served with spicy oil, very nice decor. Food was a bit pricey for Taunton but very well prepared. Dont expect huge portions if youre a big eater. I would go back.

Staff are always nice and accommodating (even when were difficult). Relaxing atmosphere and a great mix of Portuguese and Italian style foods! Unfortunately not a lot of options for my vegetarian daughter.

Last night we dined at La Familia in Taunton for the first time.The food was delicious and the service was excellent. I ordered the pecan crusted salmon. "Delicious". We will definitely be returning soon.
