I have been a fan of the Capital Grille since the early 90’s. This review is a long time coming and I decided to write now while the tastes are still fresh in my mouth. The most important things to me in dining (in order): 1) Service 2) Taste/Quality 3) Consistency of 1 & 2. Simply put, I go to the Capital Grille first for its service. The wait staff is well trained, intimate with the menu, and they cater to your every need. They do this consistently and unobtrusively. My second reason is the USDA Prime Dry Aged Steaks (aged in house). They are phenomenal. If you have not treated yourself to one of these, you do not know what you are missing. I have been dining at The Capital Grille for over 15 years and for steak houses… it ranks #1 for Service and #1 for Taste/Quality and #1 for consistency of the aforementioned attributes. You will note that price is not of concern to me. Let’s face it, this is not Sizzler. On average I spend between $125 -$175 for dinner for two (not including drinks). Tonight’s meal included Kona Rubbed Sirloin with shallot butter, Red Snapper (evening special) in a Moscato wine reduction with Fennel and Artichokes , and thee sides (green beans, mashed potatoes and the amazing Parmesan Truffle French Fries). My wife and I have plenty left over for lunch tomorrow. We came out under my normal $125 minimum. Great wine selection. Great Selection of Whisky (Single Malt). You will not be disappointed.

I like the service. the waitress did her job. but i do not like the food for the price i have to pay. I am a very very picky eater. When someone is trying to prepare me a filet mignon using butter i get quite upset. it is heavy with a lot of buttery taste. After the meal i have to drink three glass of water,... a clear indication that the food is not prepare properly. if you watch NECN diners... i am not like these guys who constantly praise people the world over.. i select from the best of the best.. i am extremely picky since who would want to overpay for a dinner plate that requires you to dish out over $38 for the entree? if you want fine dining i highly recommend you to visit Washington Square in Brookline, MA. i wont name the restaurant name... but it serves various kind of draft beers (something capital grille does not provide) along with excellent entrees every evening. the price is reasonable... I am still aching from the price i have to pay for a meal with my wife.. just move on...

I have enjoyed many wonderful dinners at the location on Newbury Street. I cannot believe this restaurant is part of the same family. I ordered the Field Greens, Tomatoes and Fresh Herb salad. The lettuce was brown and wilted. It was drowned with a very oily dressing that was awful. My husband ordered the Caeser salad which was the same salad (brown and wilted) with croutons and cheese added. We explained our disappointment to our waitress who did not seem to care. My husband ordered the Kona Crusted Sirloin. It was cooked correctly and tasted good but had a lot of fat. My request for medium well filet mignon came to me blood red. I ask the uninterested waitress to return the meat for additional cooking. It came back to me looking horrible and yet still red. We did speak to the manager who did not keep my meal on the bill. However a friend went to the restaurant one hour after us and had the same experience with the filet mignon. Save your money and find another restaurant.

I was in town with my wife visiting my son in college during parents weekend. Wanted to take him out for a great dinner and chose Capital Grill in Chestnut Hill. Out of three steaks, all of which were ordered cooked to medium level: - my sons was OK, - my wifes was charred and dry (definitely over the well done mark) - mine was raw, even below the rare mark. I sent it back. When it came back, it was still rare but i decided to keep it as my wife and son had already finished eating We were offered free deserts to compensate for the inconvenience. However, i ended up spending $275 for a sub-standard dinner, poor quality steak dinner. It was an absolute rip off.

Amazing! Went here for restaurant week and had a delicious mixed green salad, my date got the ceasar salad and both were great. I got the filet mignon for dinner and it was cooked perfectly. My date got the kona flavored dry aged sirloin and said it was amazing! We shared the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes which were a great addition to the meal. We ended with a GIANT slice of chocolate cake and creme brulee. The server, Mohammed, got us a huge slice of the cake because they were out of the prescirbed espresso flavored choc. cake on the menu. Many thanks to Mohammed, who was a great server! Overall, expensive but worth it!

Stopped here for late lunch, and had a mixed experience. We were 6 and were requested to wait for our table to be ready, although it was 16:00 just when the place was opened. We reserved in advance. After 15 minutes of wait we were seated, only to be moved to another table after 5 minutes because we were seated there "accidentally". Food was good as in any other Capital Grill. I had the Fillet Minion which was great. Service was ok but the mix up at the beginning was completely avoidable.

The service was great - but the chef does not know how to spell vegetarian - or care to cook for one. I well realize it is a steak house - but as a guest at a business dinner I have no choice but to attend. My suggestion is to bring your own food and have them warm it up for you - or you get to stick to the salads with limited protein. I have been to other up scale restaurants that at least have the chef come out and work with you - a bit. Not so here.

We had a delightful time! Our server, Muhammed "Mo" was excellent, friendly, courteous, helpful, preparing food as needed not just as on the menu. I had a wonderful sauted calamari when he learned I could not eat the pan fried. The food was well prepared and superb! The hostess was gracious offering to take pictures for our celebration! It was a memorable experience which I highly recommend. Well worth the expensive prices!

We were invited by one of our company partners to a dinner at The Capital Grille. I have to say that the event was an amazing experience because of our hosts and Mohamed Dadoun, our server. His service and attention to every detail was the best that I have ever experienced, the food also was really good. I dine out a lot, but I am am not a steak house fan, will be back to The Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill.

This review is for the Capital Grille in Chestnut Hill. The tables are crowded together resulting in a claustrophobic and noisy experience. This could be excused if the steak was as exceptional as I had remembered it from my last time there. Unfortunately, it was tough. Finally, it was hot and humid inside. To there credit, they did turn the temperature down when I asked.
