We went to Moonstones to test it out before taking my -in-laws there for our anniversary. Good thing we did that. We very disappointed. Initially, we really liked the atmosphere, decor and variety of seating options. We elected to sit at the main bar. When we asked about drinks, our barman appeared somewhat inexperienced, My husband was served an expensive flavoured vodka with minimal ice, no garnish and no swizel stick - looked like a glass of water. I ordered a sake which was served at boiling temp (thus obliterating the taste) and noted I was charged more for it than the stated price on drinks list. We ordered three different apps to share and, unfortunately, sent two of them back. The Med salad was little more than a plate of mixed greens. One had to search for the candied pecans, carrots and whatever else was supposed to be there. The dressing though, was very good. We also ordered Pho soup which we expected to be flavourful. It certainly looked good. It tasted of nothing; as if there had been no thought to the stock and ingredients. We left it and our server did remove it from our bill. We had high hopes for the buffalo calamari and, indeed, the calamari was fresh and al dente. However, the combination of the blue cheese and buffalo sauce just did not work together. We talked to our neighbours on both sides of the bar and neither couple was greatly impressed. We left, feeling hungry and as though we had wasted money and our evening. Thank Goodness we had not waited and gone their for our 10th anniversary dinner. In light of some of the very excellent restaurants in the Nashua area which offer value for money and excellent dishes, we will not return to Moonstones.

But apparently, Moonstones chefs are not so qualified. I went on Valentines day, after being a regular here for months. Because of the holiday, the menu had been shortened to 1 single sheet of paper, listing the only appetizer, and a choice of 5 beginning, entree, and dessert options. Having a nut allergy, I informed my waiter that I was deathly allergic to tree nuts. The appetizer was brought out - a strawberry, slice of kiwi (or something?) some watermelon sauce, and almond paste. I returned the plate. The appetizer was brought out, a small chuck of beef and some oddly shaped peppers. I ate this as I was starving by this point. The entree was brought out, two pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, and a salad covered in pecans. I sent this plate back. The dessert was then brought out by the manager. A mousse and some kind of frosting on the plate, with what looked like an oddly shaped piece of cake. I asked the manager is there were nuts in it, she informed me there were. After three warnings about how nuts would pretty much instantly kill me, even the manager couldnt get this right. Its not a complicated order. The bill totaled $130 for two people, having only 2 mixed drinks each. I informed the manager at how outraged I was, at how I had been treated, and her response was to remove my meal. Not my dates, or anything else. I Emailed the owner my experience, and his response included vulgarity and accusations about how my poor reviews were threatening his familys lifestyle. No care about how close I came to dying at the hands of his completely inept staff. Dont go here. Ever. Even burger king can make it my way. Why cant Moonstones for 20x the money?

We have been planning to eat at Moonstone in Chelmsford for quite some time now and finally today we visited them. The restaurant is quite big and was super busy on a Sunday morning which definitely indicates that its very popular among the locals; moreover there is not many nice restaurants to choose from around that area. The restaurant has a big bar (with an elaborate drink menu) and a raw seafood bar. We were sitted right away, but no waitress showed up for some time, I think it was the manager who finally came and took our order. We ordered scrambled egg flatbread (served with banana peppers, smoked bacon) and bubbly breakfast (which included peach bellini, scrambled eggs, mini red velvet pancake, brown sugar glazed bacon, patatas bravas & hollandaise sauce) from the brunch menu. The food was no doubt very good and fresh. The portion size was more than enough for one person. The scrambled egg flatbread was spiced with banana peppers & had a very balanced hot & spicy flavor. I am not a fan of bacon but the brown sugar glazed bacon was way too tasty. The scrambled egg with hollandise sauce was delicious, very different from what I have had earlier at any other restaurant. I really liked the red velvet pancake, it was scrumptious. We will visit again to try their lunch/dinner menu. And yeah we will try the seafood bar next time too!

This was absolutely the worst dining experience that Ive ever had, so much so that I had to share. By the end of the night we couldn’t help but feel that we could have had better meal at Taco Bell. In hind sight, the whole experience was so bad that I should have spoken to the manager but I was very annoyed and decided to leave disappointed and hungry. Here is why: 1) staff was less than friendly; heavy on the Newbury st. attitude in a Chelmsford restaurant 2) appetizer Buffalo Calamari got to the table in less than five minutes and it was small, cold and bland 3) the meal itself (we both got "pork carnitas slow roasted with sweet potato fries, queso blanco and guacamole") arrived in about five minutes; like the app, the serving was small and far from hot, the white cheese sauce tasted like it came directly out of a bottle/can with as much flavor as the pork; the tortillas, both of them were a bit stiff and brittle and far from fresh (for $18+ it was a tremendously overpriced), the other sides like the tomatoes and guacamole left much to be desired; the fries were good and the only thing that seemed to be fresh Lastly, the speed of service made me wonder how fresh the food was, it certainly was already cooked and sitting for it to come out as fast as it did. Very disappointing since we wanted to like it. Live and learn I guess.

I never leave reviews but felt compelled to in this case because the place was so amazing!...and in Chelmsford of all places. I dont see where someone could leave a bad review. Everything was unbelievable from the moment we walked in and were greeted nicely by the hostess...from the service to the drinks and finally the food which we had a ton. As two couples, we tried a mixture of oysters and 12 tapas dishes; they were all unbelievable! We decided that the Brazilian steak with egg, pork carnitas, buff calamari and the simple margarita pizza were a few of our favs but they were all real good. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. The only negative and this is small on my list would be the outside and location. I would never suspect such a great place from the looks of the building but it was surprisingly a fantastic experience!

My husband and I stayed next door at the Best Western hotel and decided to eat dinner here since it was so close. I didnt really like the open seating as we were seated so close to some other guests...but other than that...it was great! The person who greeted us offered to take our coats..which was nice. The food was outstanding..we had the Asian Ribs, bok choy, Korean chicken wings, potato fingerings, two orders of lamb pops and 4 beers..and it came to less than $90.00..the food was so good and very much worth the price! And the service..wow..I cant tell you how many different people came to clear our plates..plus, they brought us heated napkins after the chicken wings...how thoughtful is that!! I highly recommend this place! Two..actually four ..thumbs up!!!!
