For a weeknight dinner, it was the best! We travel from our office in the middle of nowhere Canton to go to Boston for dinner once a month. Usually we hope for a few things: Cheap Parking, Ability to find said parking, a bar with a decent amount of seating so we can wait for other friends to arrive, a swanky ambiance, and lastly above average FOOD. Now I do admit that I ALWAYS look on Yelp before making any dining decisions, and this time was no different. I was a bit disappointed to see that the few Yelpers I hold in high regard did not have anything stellar to say about Stella, but many other folks did. I decided that it would be a risk and I was gonna take it! OK so back to my list. The parking was easy to find and cheap- sweet! The bar was cute with the couch and friendly bartender. Good amount of seating over there too! The ambiance was very Miami Vice-ish and all in white. How very Don Johnson of you! I did love the crazy carpet though, couldnt stop myself from checking it out ten times. On to the food and bev. It was good. The drinks were well prepared, but were the usual fare. Nothing to note as a house specialty. The apps were also tasty, but predictable. Artichokes were fried and had a type of tartar sauce, odd but really tasty. The buffalo mozz had a nice spicy sauce that was a bit of a surprise. The dinners were presented quite nicely, but one of our friends felt his special pasta was lacking in quantity. My friend and I gave him what we could not finish from our steak and salmon dishes. The two desserts we ordered were both topped with ice cream even though they were totally different...I thought that was odd. The apple tarte and rice pudding were great choices, even if the only adornment was vanilla ice cream. All in all it was an awesome night out and a very good dinner. It was packed for a Monday so they must be doing something right!

Great modern italian restaurant with reasonable prices. Still a go-to restaurant when you want something light and good. Best part is they are open very late and its not as crowded as it used to be. YOu have to try the fried artichoke hearts, mushroom/truffle pizza and bolognese pasta. Its definitely not as popular as it used to be but thats not because the food is any worse, i think there are just too many new...and good...restaurants in the area. Its definitely a little loud in the main dining area but the back room is slightly better and of course eating outside is plenty quiet. They would get 5 stars for the good food and scene...but only get 4 because the service has always been a bit spotty.

Went to Stella for a lovely afternoon meal. The Spicy Mussels were a great appetizer (no shell!), both the bolognese and seafood risotto entrees were delicious, and the drinks were great! See the pictures I posted, they speak for themselves. The restaurant atmosphere is surprisingly relaxing and enjoyable for the location. The location itself is not bad, just a 10 minutes walk from the Back Bay Orange Line Station, but it was still an unexpectedly charming place. Finally, our waitress was very friendly and gave us great suggestions on food and drinks to try. Overall an excellent meal, in my opinion.

I was oddly not as enchanted with Stella on my first try. I think the vibe was a little off - a mixture of clubby music/demeanor mixed with a fairly traditional/professional table. It was an interesting mix but didnt convince me on my first try that it worked. I did like the presentation of the food though with a specific napkin/silverware set-up and food that looked great. I got the linguine with asparagus sauce which was simply okay - I liked the idea but the dish wasnt flavorful enough. Youre also paying a bit here so make sure to be aware of this before coming in.

Went here for early evening drinks and apps. Sat outside. The patio is pretty nice and for those who get cold easily, they offer blankets and have heated lamps. I hope they wash those blankets often? We ordered a few appetizers which were all pretty good, but man, for the high price, the portions were very small. I went inside to use the restroom and was very interested in the decor being ALL WHITE. Must be a pain to keep clean. I would go back...but knowing how much Id be spending would definitely be a deterrent. Special occasion?

Visit Stella on my birthday. My wife had tuna tartar and the mussels, both were excellent. I had fried artichoke and pasta with asparagus cream. The artichoke was excellent. The pasta was more like a varied version of pasta Alfredo with little bits of asparagus in it, its heavy and a bit greasy. Little bit disappointed with the sauce. The pasta itself taste fresh and cooked al dente. The atmosphere is noisy. Chair is less than comfortable. Good for a fast bit before theatre or brunch. Not too ideal for romantic occasions.

Stell is my absolute go to restaurant in Boston. If Ive got friends visiting from out or town, a date, or dinner with friends you cant go wrong. The atmosphere is great. Its not a tourist place so you know if youre from out of town youre going to be where the local South End residents go. The food is consistent, the prices are fair. There is a great wine selection and the patio seating is a bonus. The bartenders rock and know how to make a good cocktail! Im never disappointed when I return to Stella time and time again

This was an unbelievably lucky find that my daughter and I came upon during a recent visit to Boston. Our waitress, whose name was Kayle (I think) was one of the sweetest and best waitresses ever. The food was absolutely delicious. Both my daughter and I dont eat a lot, so I just got appetizers, and while some restaurants try and pressure you to get more, we didnt feel rushed or pressured. The chef should be highly commended for creative and extremely yummy food. A big thumbs up from me.

Some of the best bolognese Ive had outside of Bologna, Italy! The setting is casual, nice, fun, great drinks, amazing food, and the kitchen is open late night so its a great place to go when you are starving and nothing else is open. The mussels, always amazing, the pizzas and pastas are so good every time and always big portions so you can bring home leftovers and it doesnt break to bank! Definitely a great place and has outdoor seating in the summer with heat lamps for the cooler nights!

Had an amazing dinner here the other Saturday night. No trouble with reservations, and from the time we came in until the time we left the service was as impeccable as the meal. The bread and white bean spread is amazing, the muscles are a must and the wine outstanding. When I asked friends where to go to dinner this was hands down the #1 answer and now I know why! Please Please Please treat yourself to a great dinner here- you wont be disappointed and your wallet wont hate you either!
