REALLY wanted to like this place, but it just isnt any good. I grew up in Tennessee and I know good BBQ, even though my expectations are lower when I eat it up north. However, this was a total disappointment. I got the combo tres with ribs, brisket, and chicken. All of the meat was dry and overcooked. The ribs were desiccated to the point of mummification. They were literally too hard to eat. I had to ask for them to be replaced. The replacements were only acceptable, but not delicious. The sauce is a thick sauce and therefore should be on the sweeter side, but its a touch too vinegary. Same with the cole slaw. The sauce has less vinegar than a Carolina sauce, and about the same as a Memphis or St. Louis sauce, but doesnt have the appropriate viscosity. Its thick like a Kansas City sauce, just without the correct amount of sweetness. To make matters worse, they also use some sort of dry rub under the sauce that is reminiscent of taco seasoning. The flavors clash. The cornbread was not crumbly or sticky, but more like a muffin or cake. The "pasta salad" is actually mac salad. Pasta salad is usually rotini made with a light Italian- like dressing. This was heavy with mayo and elbow macaroni. Mac salad. Mislabeled. And too thick/ creamy. Overall, the meal was a fail. I gave it 2 stars for the nice atmosphere, good location, friendly staff, and full bar. But I wont be eating there again.

I stopped in looking for some food after mbta screwed me in my train home. It was a Sunday and not quite late night, however I was surprised to see people trickling in slowly to have beer or two. I thought it would remain dead. Never got to packed though, and seems like they were regulars. I got some of the smoked wings and side of fries (only come seperately). The wings are genuinely smoked, no liquid smoke crap. They were delicious. The fries were thick cut too and perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper. Loved that the wings were reasonably priced for Boston, and when I asked if I could spilt flavors the staff was happy to oblige. The fries were not runny at all(my preference) but the sauce flavor was competing with the wings smokiness. If your big on wing sauce, order some extra on the side. Other than that my only complaint is the music was a couple notches too loud, I had trouble talking to my waiter/host. But it was good music. At the time, hip hop/rap was playing but nothing crappy like little Wayne or anything. It was a cool mix of oldies like Humpty, Beastie Boys and some newer stuff with notable seriousness. For sport finatics, a couple of the tvs were in green blue color modes. Not sure whats going on there... BUT! Id come back here definitely. Good food, nice prices and decent company.

Overall, a great addition to the North Station area. Our waitress said that the chef came over from Blue Ribbon to work there. I am unsure if this is true, but I would not say the quality of food was quite on par with Blue Ribbon, though I was pretty happy with it. The BBQ in particular was very good. I got the pulled pork and my friend got a beef dish that was equally as good. Overall the food and drinks seemed about appropriately priced to slightly expensive. The crowd was young-ish, early thirties and stylish, but not pretentious. The bar area is comfortable and inviting. This is definitely an upgrade to "The Penalty Box" that used to be the Causeway eyesore.

One Bartender? He forgot my order 20 min after ordering and he left his dirty dish rag on the table the entire time! As for the food... I read the sign it said the best bbq in town. It was not even near that description. The worst collard greens Ive ever had! They were tough and flavorless. The brisket was extremely dry and looked like it was sitting out all day. Oh and to top off my experience I had to ask for my credit card, his response was oh I didnt give it back to you? Word to the wise Id wait until they hire more people... Well thats being nice of me, in all reality avoid this place and the so called best bbq in town!

Great bar, good mix of regulars, tourists and sports fans streaming from TD on game nights. Upstairs turns into a 20s aged club Thur-Sat after 10pm. The owners actually work bar or tend to front of house which is nice. Has a 23 oz $4 domestic beer which is the best in this neighborhood. Food is good; Id recommend the Brisket Reuben with the Macaroni and Cheese. They have pulled pork, ribs, and brisket as well, I wouldnt compare it to NOLA or Texan spots but it is probably the best in Beantown. It is also 1 of 3 bars open until 2AM near the Garden.

This place is amazing !!!! The menu selection is small but I love almost everything on the menu especially the dings crispy chicken sandwich . Also must tries are Causeway Restaurant & Bar, emerald kale salad , and the spicy tuna roll. For a non sushi restaurant I find that the sushi is high grade quality . Only problem is its a small space and the wait time can be long if you are more than two people.

Perfect spot! We came upon the Causeway while searching for "facilities" after sitting in traffic. Classic look, which is a norm in Boston, with sports on every screen - okay, okay we were in town for the Celtics vs Bulls Game 5! :-) Superb food and menu selections! Just outstanding food!! The staff was glad we were there and thankful for our business...very nice and welcoming feel!

There are many places to grab a bite to eat by the Garden, but I would give the nod to the Causeway based on the atmosphere, service and food. Staff was attentive and friendly; food portions were bigger than I expected - they make a good burger. I liked the atmosphere here as they do a good job keeping out the louder younger crowd you will find at the Harp.

Very nice bar with good service. Plenty of TVs for football goodness. Had smoked wings with honey pepper buffalo sauce. Very smokey flavor, meaty wings excellent. Also had pulled pork burrito, chimi style. Again, great smokey flavor on the meat, very tender and delicious. Price wise pretty good for a Boston bar, very much recommended.

They have cloth napkins. Last time Ive been in a place with cloth napkins was at Ginos. On top of that I recommend the chips and salsa. Also get the quesadilla without red onions but everything else. Its da bomb. Also get the sangria. My mom took two sips and is no passed out on the streets of Boston. Just kidding but get the water.

As I explore this beautiful city I am reminded of how each community is filled with amazing people and things! Well, Causeway Restaurant & Bar is now my new go to place for burgers! I will be back for the BBQ one day, one day soon. And right behind it is a small art community with pop up shops and an organic stand. What? Yas!
