New to town and need a spot? First off they got a thick a burger and you know what that means, its harder to cook "right" (Im trying not to use the word well for good reason)... and gosh darn it they did it. End to end cooked great. However, thats not my thing. I would rather have a little less burger meat, maybe a little more pork , maybe another onion ring. I ordered coleslaw on the side to add. (I ended up with that and fries, Thank you!). Funny thing is that I liked there sweet and what not sauce better than their tangy and Im normally a tangy guy. Nonetheless, the staff was friendly. The environment was great for me as someone just visiting. Although, it seems like the stools were in short demand and the chairs with back were in higher demand, and I must say that after spending hours trying to figure out where I would be best suited to eat... it wouldve been nice to lean back a bit. If I make it back out to this area (and I wouldnt mind doing so), this spot would be somewhere for me to check out. So I can only give four stars out of preference, but they got all the ingredients (and maybe for others) to be a five starer.

I found the Smoke House on the Find Me Gluten Free app on my phone and I absolutely was not disappointed! Oh my goodness, everything was PHENOMENAL! I had a burger with an egg and bacon on it, I forget the name, on a gluten free bun and with no cheese (Im allergic to dairy as well). Our server came out with the food and said the chef left off the relish because there was an ingredient that may have involved dairy and he didnt want to take the chance. It was much appreciated that they were so thorough in preparing my food! The friends I was with both loved their food, as did my boyfriend. And it was a BEAUTIFUL day, so sitting in the open air section was lovely. There is a covered outdoor portion of the restaurant as well as an indoor area with AC. Everyone was super friendly. If we ever find ourselves in Newport again, I will definitely return to Smoke House!

Lots of gluten free options! I had a pulled pork sandwich on a gluten free bun. Its an outdoor seating area with curtain flaps that can be pulled down for incliment weather. We were seated next to the potted plants that have a slight hole in between two roofs coming together for the rain to come down. I got a few drops on me during the course of the night. Its a quiet venue by any means -- at some times, I had trouble hearing my boyfriend across the table. So just be aware. Food was excellent though!

I almost didnt go because of the couple of folks that gave negative ratings but I couldnt stay away and it was the BEST CHOICE I MADE IN RHODE ISLAND!!!! Came early to get a seat and had some of the best smoked, juicy awesomeness Ive had in a long while. The rub was spot on. The meat was tender but not mushy. Hog wings are a must and the service was great. Only negative was finding parking. Stop reading and go eat already!

best item on the menu is the fries. we tried a little bit of everything.... the chicken wings (which we ordered buffalo style) were served bbq style and were ice cold. the st. louis ribs had a generous amount of rub but the rub had no flavor at all. the brisket was awful. pulled pork and baby back ribs were marginal.

For the price you pay here - you get amazing value for money. Try the comboplatter - its food for 3 people easy - only costing 38 bucks. Very high quality of meat, best ribs I have ever had. Tried a lot of places in and around Newport, this is by far the best place I have been so far.

Decent BBQ, great cocktails and atmosphere right in the heart of Newport. Service can be a bit slow but a nice place to hang out and have a few drinks while waiting if you arent in a rush. The combo and sampler platters are an easy way to try a variety of things

The meat lacked the typical smoked flavor of good BBQ. The ribs and pulled pork were tough without a good spice rub. The beans were inedible, dry without good flavor. We left most of the meal on the plate. Slow service. This is not good southern smoked BBQ.

Great service, nice place and may offer great cocktails (I didnt try them) but the menu offers only fat food that isnt tasty. I went there with 4 other people, all ordered different plates and we were all disappointed.

Decent BBQ. My wife had the half a chicken which was very moist and came with delicious cornbread. I had the bbq chicken salad wrap which was ok. They do have good homemade bbq sauces on the tables

Fantastic BBQ! Ribs are fall-off-the-bone delicious, chicken is juicy and flavorful. Combo platter is a great choice. Advertised for 2 people but easily for 3 or 4, especially if you order sides.

The service wasnt great. It wasnt very busy and we still had to wait a long time for drinks and food and remind our waiter to poor water and that we had ordered something. Food was okay.

As far as downtown Newport goes, this place is super reasonable and delicious. The platters (see pictures) feed 3-4 people comfortably and their cocktails are well made.
