I went there tonight for dinner with a friend. It started out nicely but quickly went downhill. The server was not able to recommend any dishes and didnt listen to what my friend was looking for. I ordered an entree of Pad Thai and requested no shrimp, just chicken. My friends dinner came out first. My entree was brought out and I saw that there was shrimp but no chicken. I pointed this out to the waiter. She took the dish back to the kitchen then came back and said they were remaking the dish. I waited about 8 minutes, meanwhile my friends meal was getting cold so I told her to go ahead and eat. The server brought my dish back and yep, it had shrimp on it. I looked at her and said, "what part of NO SHRIMP" did you not understand? She took it back to the kitchen then came out and said it would be about 15 minutes. I said that was unacceptable. I waited for her to walk away then asked another server for a Manager. I waited about 6 minutes, its about 7:45 and the place is not that busy at all. The Manager finally comes over. I look at her and said "there seems to be a major problem with communication, the server is not listening. The Manager then has the audacity to look at me an tell me it was my fault the order was wrong!!!!! It took every ounce of civility in me not to get up and walk out. My meal finally came. The food was fine, nothing great. Then it was time for the check. I had asked for separate checks and the server couldnt grasp that concept. I was to annoyed at that point to deal with it. I think we left a 16% tip. Needless to say I wont be going back to Tara Asia or recommending it to anyone anytime soon.

Tara Asia is a sister restaurant of Tara Thai. The decor was much more simple than that of Tara Thai. Although the seating was much more comfortable due to the distance between the chair/booth and table. Before a movie at Regal Rockville Centre 13, my friend and I had dinner at Tara Asia. The staff was friendly and service was good. We ordered Thai Iced Tea, Crab Cheese Roll, Spicy Teriyaki, and Pad Pak. The Thai Iced Tea had a nice blend of red tea and half and half and was quite refreshing. Sometimes its good to try things different than the usual. The Crab Cheese Rolls consisted of three crispy rice paper filled with cream cheese, garlic, onion, and imitation crab meat, sliced in half, and served with a sweet and sour sauce with a dash of chili oil. We liked how it was a heavy appetizer in the sense it had the right amount of cream cheese! The Spicy Teriyaki consisted of shrimp and chicken marinated with an exotic teriyaki sauce and sauteed with vegetables. It was served with Thai jasmine rice. My friend was surprised that his Spicy Teriyaki had a strong pepper smell but wasnt spicy at all. The Vegetarian Pad Pak consisted of mixed seasonal veggies (e.g., cabbage, broccoli, green beans, soybeans, carrots, and mushroom) and tofu sauteed in a light garlic sauce. This dish was also served with Thai jasmine rice. We felt that this dish was too salty for our enjoyment so we only ate half and didnt doggy bag the rest.

I had been here some time ago, and seemed to remember that the food was quite good. The other night, we went there with some friends for dinner. The service was good, and the food was excellent. The appetizers we got - meat dumplings with Wasabi were amazing. Watch out for the wasabi kick. All the food - vegetarian and meat, were excellent. The exotic drinks did leave something to be desired, but then we should have stayed with the simpler drinks. Overall, this is an above average place. Definitely on the repeat list.

Hey dont let the decor fool you. Tara Asia Restaurant is putting some very tasty thai food out of that kitchen. I love "hole in the wall" thai joints, and Tara Asia Restaurant does not disappoint. They have two options a buffet counter and an a la carte menu. We had the tofu and Chinese broccoli, pad thai and some thai iced teas off the menu. Everything is delicious. Fast and very friendly service. Alicia made some great menu recommendations. Free parking in the lot. Highly Recommend.

The food is pretty decent. Its good delivery, theyre reliable. The only thing is that their hours seem to change a lot, without much notice or obvious displays that their hours are changing, or even what their hours are. Ive never eaten in the restaurant, but i have gotten delivery or take-out several times.

Only tried the drunken noodles and crab rolls which are both great. We get that every time. Not sure if the other thai restaurants in the area are better, at least at drunken noodles.
