My family has been to Bar Louis several times and we have always had at least an "alright" experience. It is convenient when we have a late night and not much else is open. Four of us went on Tuesday, April 18 and had one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. The service was terrible. Our server could not seem to remember anything without is telling me multiple times. More than once we had to grab other servers to help us. My husband and I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich, which is what we normally order when we go. When it was finally brought out, both sandwiches we BLACK!! I was so appalled I didnt think to take a photo until it had already been taken from our table. We were told by a different server that it was because the grease had been used all day. Of course that excuse didnt make it any better because essentially we were being served a sandwich made in old grease. The remake of the chicken sandwich was slightly lighter but we still had to peel all the burned breading off. Our server never brought us any refills on water and kept disappearing outside and in the kitchen for long periods of time. For some reason a few of the servers, in between serving their tables, were sitting at a table eating. I am still confused about that practice. By the end of the meal we asked for the manager and when we spoke to him he acted really timid and didnt seem to be a problem solver AT ALL!! He said the servers were allowed to eat and serve at the same time and didnt offer much in terms of ensuring that we return. He said he would have a talk with our server. I suppose our server knew we ratted him out because he didnt acknowledge us at all as we were leaving. The one bright side is that the key lime dessert was good. I am still very surprised about this experience especially since this location is so new. I would expect management to be running a tighter ship.

Update: Manager has called me and promised to make it right! Terrible. I would give less than one star if possible. I wanted to express my displeasure regarding my visit to the Bar Louie in Owings Mills last night. I went to happy hour with a group of 7 other coworkers from T. Rowe Price around 5:15pm. Our server did not come to our table until about 15 minutes after we had arrived. When we ordered (8 appetizers and 7 or 8 drinks) the server wrote our order down on a napkin. We started complaining after 30 minutes of waiting for drinks and our server said that she would bring over the manager. I do not know the servers name but she had a star tattooed on her neck. 15 minutes later, our drinks started arriving one by one. We also ordered our second round of drinks before our first arrived so we wouldnt have to wait an extra hour. My beer was terrible but I was stuck with two of them because I ordered my second beer before my first arrived. Of these drinks, many were incorrect. At one point, the server takes the olives that were incorrectly put in a Stoli orange martini (why would there be olives in that?) and places it in another persons drink!!! Is that even legal? Both drinks should have been replaced at that point. The last two drinks to arrive (closing in on an hour) were two beers. The server stated that we had never ordered any beers, though we had. We were expecting the manager to come over to us at some point to speak to us but by the end of our food and drinks, it was obvious that wasnt happening and everyone just really wanted to leave. This was easily the most disappointing happy hour experience I have taken part in. We were really looking forward to replacing the Greene Turtle with Bar Louie but the better atmosphere does not replace competency.

My girlfriend and I came here for dinner on a Friday evening (5/12). The place was about 2/3 full and we were told there was about a 20 minute table wait, which was fine. Once we were seated we sat there for 15 minutes until we were able to flag down the hostess. No water, no greeting, nobody to take our orders. Still nobody showed up. 5 minutes later we were met by the manager who finally put in our appetizer and drink order. It was only then that we finally saw our waitress. Our appetizer came out about 10 minutes later and our drinks didnt show up until about 5 minutes after that. It should never take 40 minutes to get a drink at a bar thats only moderately busy. We ended up ordering food only because by this point we were starving and didnt feel like going anywhere else. I give the place 2 stars because our food and drinks were actually very good. Our waitress never checked on us throughout the entire meal and ended up having the bar-back bring us everything. We were comped our appetizer for our troubles, which ended up being about $5 due to their happy hour specials. Owings Mills is lacking good bars so I was hoping to have a good experience but I think this place is off my list.

My last 2 experiences here were awful. I made a takeout order of two items, and upon getting home, found that one sandwich had almost no fillings and the burger was overcooked... and the entirely wrong burger. The replacement burger (drove all the way back!) as overcooked, but at least I got a gift certificate... that had to be used within several weeks. Well, I used it tonight! Wanted the meatballs al forno, featured prominently on their web site. The woman taking my order put it into the computer, no problem, and told me 40 minutes. I arrived 40 minutes later to be told that the meatballs al forno had been removed from the menu entirely days before, regardless of the fact that theyre the first thing listed on the site! Now Im looking for somewhere other than Bar Louie to eat, at 9:30 with everything nearby closed. I imagine Ill be looking at places other than Bar Louie a lot in the future, especially considering that the meatballs were the only notable thing they had.

Just tried Bar Louie at the Owings Mills location and had a very bad experience. My boyfriend ordered a bourbon and ginger. When asked what kind of bourbon he would like, he said the rail was fine. When it came out, we both questioned what he had been given, but since the waitress did not return to the table for 20 minutes, we were unable to ask. Come to find out, he had received vodka, and was told by the server thats what rail means...vodka. Ordered salmon sliders and when attempting to cut one to split, discovered that the salmon was completely raw, cold, and slimy. We presented this to the server, who apologized and said that she wouldnt eat it either. She then asked us what to do about it. We told her that he we had had enough and just wanted the check. After receiving the check, with no care about the problem, she proceeded to come to the table 3 times within 10 minutes, however, during the meal, we saw her no more than 3 times in am hour and a half. Terrible service!

Ive been here 3 times. The other times have been okay but tonight the experience is bad at best. My waitress is so inattentive. When I first sat and ordered it took over 15 minutes to get a drink. She kept walking past the table and three times I had to call her. I had to ask her if we could actually get service! She put in an order for my apps but didnt take my food order until I tracked her down. My mother asked for a second drink and 15 minutes later had to be reminded of it (she didnt put the order in). I may have blamed it on not wanting to be at work but I saw her pay attention to other guests so Im quite offended. The whole notion of treating guests how you feel that they will tip you is old. I truly feel like I was judged on that and all subsequent actions and service are based on that assumption. She literally checked on us once, outside of us asking for something if we caught her walking past. I wont be coming back any time soon.
