Outstanding food and service but overpriced $$$$. We went to Ranazuls several times. We keep coming back because some of their tapa dishes are really excellent. The problem is the portions are tiny while the prices are almost like entrees. $9-$10 is the minimum, and some things like a tiny amount of lamb chops can go for $20. Then, they charge $3- for bread and $3 for olives, and if you run out, hard luck, you need to shell out another $3- for bread. This is ridiculous since many oif their tapas go well with bread. After moving to Columbia, I really miss Jaleos which is more reasonably priced and offers free bread, oil, and olives. That said, the service at Ranazuls is truly outstanding. Took my 15-months old daughter and the waitress and the maitre went out of their way to make us happy, despite the mess baby was making. At one point, I accidentally spilled my wine glass and they offered me another one on the house. The second the baby started crying, the bartender came over and amused her with his shaker. As far as individual tapas, I am a vegetarian and recommend the potato gratin, fried Manchego cheese, and their cheese platter, but almost anything is good. However, do stay away from the Patatas Bravas, and the asparagus dish has far too few asparagus sticks (Jaleos gives you a whole bunch for less $$). The salads are kind of a rip-off. Hard to share and so defeat the purpose of Tapas. In fact the whole place is not set up for sharing. Each guest gets one small plate, but they dont replace them with clean ones or clean silverware periodically. Overall, if youre in DC or Bethesda, go to your local Jaleos as Ranazuls is not worth the drive. It really does seem that Ranazuls is set up as a bar. If all you want is go to happy hour and have a couple of tapas with your drinks, it may waork out just fine. But if you want to make a meal out of it, be prepared to pay (~$100 for 2 people + tip)

A local Tapas style restaurant in the "upscale" downtown section of the Maple Lawn community. This visit was dinner with my wife. We arrived on a Friday evening around 7pm. There was a short wait (5-10 minutes) so we ordered some wine in the bar (which was full but not overcrowded). For dinner we ordered 5 tapas items, including the cheese plate, artichoke salad, petite fillet, lamb chops, and tuna tartar. All of the items were good or very good. The wine started with two glasses of Roaring Meg Pinot Noir and finished with a Sirrah and a Shiraz from the by the glass menu. All of the wine was on par with the quality of the food. For dessert we had coffee and the fruit cobbler, which were both average. The cobbler was the only item I wouldnt bother recommending. The service was good to excellent the entire meal. Overall the experience and food rated an "out the door" cost of around $100, and our check was $125 (the wine was about $55 for 4 glasses), making this a slightly pricey but worthwhile dining experience. I will likely eat there in the future.

Wonderful dinner time:) My husband took me there on my birthday for A special evening. I am vegetarian so I really did not have lot of options but I had enough to try as a first-time there. It’s formal looking place with decent ambiance to have a special time with good meal. My husband just mentioned about my birthday while placing order. Our server was very good and prompt. I ordered asparagus with some non-veg sauce by mistake but he gave us a sauce on side and mentioned that it has fish so he kept it separate. I was really impressed to keep that detail in mind. I loved their Red sangria, it was good. My husband did pick a meal package and that came with dessert. When they brought dessert out it was all decorated nicely to make my birthday evening very special. All in one really good place for those who likes to have special meals with special time. Food was average to good. I felt it was bit pricey but again we don’t eat out a lot so for us it was worth visiting this place.

This place has pretty good food and a nice bar atmosphere. The bar does tend to get crowded and for some reason very few people sit in the restaurant part but there are many tables there so thats an option. The decor is very nice and the service has always been good. We usually just go for happy hour though bc they have pretty good deals and we always feel odd sitting in the restaurant bc it doesnt get too much use, at least when weve been. But overall if youre in the area this place is definitely worth stopping in.

The first visit in an attempt to find somewhere decent to eat in the area; nice place, very good food and a decent atmosphere. We were early because we had the 5yr old but it was warming up as we left and people were having a good time. The choice of tapas plates was excellent and the salmon was by far the best but it was all good - depending on taste, obviously. Well worth a visit if you are in the hood.

We had our holiday office party at Ranazul last night and it was wonderful! We had over 40 people in attendance. The food was wonderful, the presentation elegant, the wines were paired nicely with each of the 4 courses, and the servers were attentive and their service was impeccable. The word here at the office is it was the BEST holiday party yet! Thanks Ranazul folks for a wonderful night!

Not a great meal, unfortunately. First time there and we were quite disappointed considering the excellent reviews. The menu was fussy and expensive- the blandness of the food we were served in no way matched the price point. They would be much better served to focus on simple fare with quality ingredients. If youre looking for great tapas take the extra time to go to Cava.

I love this restaurant. The tapas are great portions for the price and there are so many to please anyone that goes. The service is wonderful and they do a great job at spacing out tapas so you can order all you want at once without all of them arriving at once.

Ive been there twice for dinners hosted by pharmaceutical companies. The food was AMAZING and the service was great. I was there at about 7:30 pm on both occasions and the restaurant was crowded as expected, but our food was served in a decent amount of time.

This was my first Tapas experience and Im not sure how I feel about it. By the time that you know you like a dish, its gone. The wine was great and it was a lovely restaurant but dont go if youre really hungry. Its more so for an experience than a meal.
