TERRIBLE SERVICE. Dont even bother coming here for happy hour. Ill pay the extra few dollars to get a good quality drink from Holy Hound. My friends and I paid for our drinks then sat at one of 15 open tables, but the server came around to kick us out because we only paid for happy hour drinks. I was going to buy dinner there, but he didnt even give us a chance to mention that. We were seated by the hostess, but the server kicked us out because we had drinks from the bar. We even said to the server that happy hour was over and that we were going to still order more drinks (not on happy hour) and get a meal. Im from Los Angeles and this place tries so hard to be cool and edgy... but its not. Its a dump, with bad service and honestly the food is terrible too. I heard their crab pretzel was good so I tried it, but it was just cheese pretzel with a lot of moosh. The servers are snotty and there is no point for them to be, this is not a five star New York City restaurant. So get your noses out of the clouds and just be a little more friendly.

Atmosphere is great. Love the decor. Staff is passionate/enthusiastic. Sadly, the food doesnt match the praise. Ordered Chesapeake burger with sweet potato fries substituted in. Arent sweet potato fries inherently sweet? They handed me a small dipping sauce container of syrup. Alone they arent sweet. I tried the chips off my wifes plate and they werent tasty at all. The cheese fries we ordered as an appetizer were hard and overcooked. Tasted burnt more than anything else. The burger was alright. Nothing to write home about. In regards to our waitress, we had to ask another one walking by to go get her because we were all out soda/water. At that point she had been gone 20 minutes or so and I usually expect them to pop in at least 1 in that span of time. The place wasnt all that busy. This for me, is a one and done location.

This place has a nice atmosphere but it is obvious the waitresses are very inexperienced and/or overwhelmed. I have been 3 times in the past year and each time the waitresses recommended the crab pretzel. It has become more of a joke now, but all 3 times we ate here, we have gotten the crab pretel and every time it was cold or frozen in the middle. This last time we went out of our way to mention to the waitress this was the 3rd time we had been served a cold crab pretzel and the waitress replied that happens all the time. You would think if it was a common problem they would do something about it. I had also ordered a hamburger that was very dry, most likely due to being recooked, but the fries were good.

Went there for the first time tonight before a show at the Strand-Capitol and thoroughly enjoyed it! The menu was extensive and at varying price levels for everyones budget. Both my and my friends meals were terrific, and the plates we saw being brought to others around us looked incredible as well. It was a little loud, but the football game was on which was a pleasant surprise so we didnt mind. The heated patio would have been quieter if we wanted that. The greatest part was the service. I havent had outstanding service like that in ages. We may be going back to the Strand-Capitol for shows more often even though other venues are closer just to go to this place!

Moved back to town and was anxious to eat there. The food smelled marvelous as we were waiting for family to join us and I was really looking forward to our meal. I ordered a margarita and the hot pit beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. Sorry to say the margarita was watery and the sandwich was cold after three bits and the beef dried out also I dont remember the menu saying the mashed potatoes would have garlic in them so that was a surprise. Needless to say the meal was a great disappointment. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I may try your restaurant again sometime if I am in downtown but I dont think I would make the trip downtown just to eat there again. Sorry to say.

Really did not expect this level of sophistication in downtown York. Lets face it: foot traffic is pretty much non existent except in baseball season. Did not check out the "Hot Rocks" offerings but the Chicken Chesapeake that I did order was excellent: nicely done breast and a crabcake that was both sizable and crabby. Prices a bit high for the neighborhood but since the customers all drive in, they must be OK with it. Salads are competent and rail drinks and draft beer good choices. Microbrew selection spotty (for my tastes) but not likely a draw to start with. Overall, quite pleasant experience.

The atmosphere and decor was great. It has a nice bar, and patio to eat at. However the food we had was awful. My friend and I had one of the worst and tasteless burgers we ever had (over cooked and absolutely no flavor), the chips were over-spiced with a hot seasoning, the fish was over cooked and over-spiced, the soda was flat, and the service wasnt very good (we saw our waitress three times total (to order, one flat soda refill, and to pay)). On one good note the place seems like its a good place for a few drinks.

I came with my friends after almost 4 months all the staff change for worst. My friend was targeting because of her Id, after pricing her age and showing the Id they still ask her personal questions like she was a delinquent, not only that we gothink ask to move because of people walking by and then closing bar on us. So we had to go to the other side, so my experience at White Rose tonight was the worst ever, I felt discriminate, bully and not welcome, i wont ever comeback again!! Such a shame!!

Our dinner experience here has always been good, so we decided to try and book our rehearsal dinner here. Bad idea. It took days to get in touch with the manager and when we did, he had to ask me for information multiple times. In all, it took about 3 weeks for him to tell me that it would cost $1,500 on a Thursday night just for the food, no food or drink included. No thanks. If youre looking to plan an event, dont even bother asking unless you have plenty of time and money.

This place left a very good first impression on me. Myself and some friends ate here on a gamble since we were from out-of-town. We were app pleased with our meals. The onion soup was particularly tasty as was the Rachel (a twist on a classic Reuben with turkey instead of corned beef). There service was also notable. Our drinks were never empty and our waitress was polite. There are plenty of parking options nearby as well with dedicated spots for patrons of the White Rose.

One of the bartenders wouldnt even make contact with me and seemed to be in love with just two people at the bar. Luckily another bartender took care of us and when we were seated for our meals the food was delicious and the waitress and manager both took time to ask how we were. I had the pit beef entree and I loved the gravy that came with it. Im glad we took the time to wait it out and were able to enjoy the good things this popular downtown establishment had to offer.
