I was fiending for a falafel, but I wasnt about to drive to my favorite place in DC. After google searching, Gourmet Shish Kebab came up. Since the outside didnt look appealing, I never thought to stop here. I placed an ordered over the phone, and the person was quite plesant. When I entered the place, I noticed that the set-up was basic... nothing major. There is a glass case that has the various sides and kababs. As much as I love channa, I opted for the falafel wrap. The falafels (which are perfectly seasoned and cooked) are served in a warm naan, with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, feta, cucumbers, and a nice sauce. Althought I have visited here over 5 times, I ALWAYS get a falafel wrap. The other dishes look and smell good, but my true addiction is the falafel wraps. They are the BEST that Ive had.

This has been a great favorite for many years. Since I moved out of the area, I dont get to eat here nearly as often as I would like, but I *ALWAYS* stop in anytime I am within shouting distance of Laurel. The food is always carefully prepared, savory, and delicious. Seriously healthy, and terrific value. Love the tea, and the courtesy and care of the kind people who work there never fail to impress me. Try it: I am certain sure you will like it. (updated 18th Safar, 1438h...Hijri) Have enjoyed the food many more times since I posted the review above, and the only thing different is the food somehow seems even better each time I return... .

Wow! What great food prepared by people who care about healthy, fresh ingredients. As echoed by other reviewers, the naans at this place are huge and great tasting. Hungry or not they taste so good and are so fresh that you will end up finishing the entire naan just because it tastes so good. Kofta Kebab and Chicken Jalfarazzi are so good that you would want seconds even though you feel full. Really, all in all everything at this place is fresh and great tasting. People are very friendly with unmatched customer service and the prices for the amount of food you get are extremely fair. I would recommend this place whole heartedly.

The rice, curry, and kebabs are really good here. Some of the dishes are mildly spicy and others have some kick. But keep in mind this a kebab house, so the selection is limited if your used to a more traditional Indian/Pakistani food faire. But what they do have they do it right. If you like kebabs and curry then this is great place to go in the Laurel area for good take-out/dine-in curry/kebab. Its a family run shop that definitely has some loyal local customers. My family will certainly be regulars.

My friend and I came to this restaurant based on Google reviews and it did not disappoint. We were greeted by friendly Su who told us she makes all the food herself, she gave us samples and it was so good. We both ordered opposite items so we could sample from each others plates. She brought us out some Indian Black tea with milk to go with our meals. Excellent food and atmosphere. This restaurant made our day and was a highlight of my visit from New Mexico.

The food is okay and theyre not friendly but theyre not mean either.. Lol! The food is mehh! Ive had better. FYI: They DONT wear gloves both in the kitchen and right there in front of you at the counter. I literally watched the owner touch something in the trash and right after, go knead bread dough for another customer. (Im not even kidding). He did NOT even bother to wash his hands. Thats just nasty and based on that, I wont be returning.

This was a hole-in-the-wall establishment, but thanks to my colleague for broadening my horizon of restaurants in the area. Ill say the food was nicely prepared. We waited awhile, but worth the wait. I had the Pepper Chicken Kebab with cabbage and northern beans. Spicy, Spicy, Spicy... I missed the part about having the pita bread to go along with my meal, but my colleague had some. The bread went well with the beans, yes indeed.

Food is good. Service is poor. I had a curry platter (mix of chicken and lamb). Also had the spinach and spicy peas. The seasoning was good but not to the quality I expected. The made to order naan bread is large and very good. The service is lacking. No greeting when you enter or thank you when leaving...and I was one of only three patrons in the place. I may try one more time but will not go out of my way.

If not for the bread, wed give this place 3 stars. The bread was very good. The baba ganoush was also good. Everything else was okay (lamb kabob, potatoes, spinach, lentils, chana, rice). The staff was friendly. The atmosphere was unpretentious. I liked the background music (acoustic guitar). As with any restaurant, styrofoam plates and plastic utensils lowers the quality of the food for me.

Great food. Have eaten here so much, we dont need to say "the usual" any more. The guy knows what we want. Which is gyro meat and Nan (or Pita) with all the sides. A lot of times they have a small bottle of a mango juice from the Emirates which is quite good. Large servings, dont over-order or you will be eating middle eastern cuisine for the week. Good deserts if we had the room left.

If I have to rate between awful and awesome, it would be okay. They serve Indian/Pakistani food and the food is average. I am a fan of south Asian food and I have tried almost every restaurant in great DMV. The rice is not tasty at this restaurant while the kababs are better. The pack for palaw kabab which reaches almost 12 dollar is not even a pound. They gotta do better.

This used to be a favorite, but I stopped in recently when back in town and the food didnt seem as good. The bread was a little yeasty and the chicken kabob wasnt as tender as I remember and the flavor didnt seem as nuanced - just very peppery. Overall the food was good, just not great. The atmosphere has improved over the years, although its still not great.

Been eating lunch here for years. Very good, dependable place. Much better than you would expect from the exterior, and much better than your average roadside kabob place. New owners redid the inside, so it is brighter and warmer. Very clean.

Food was good. Everyone was very pleasant. I came in with my boyfriend and we ordered lamb platter. The lamb was the best!!! Next time I will just order the kabob. They had a lady from Togo and she was just the sweetest she can be!!

Good middle easten food. 21 yrs open. Places to sit. Food is cooked to your level of spice tolerance. Karai chicken and kabobs are good. Salt intake is high but expected for this type of cuisine. Prices are very reasonable.
