I moved from Austin, Texas back to Maryland over 20 years ago but never found a place that tasted like the homestyle Northern Mexican/Tex-Mex so ubiquitous in Texas until I discovered Plaza Garibaldi. The place is run by an extended family and friends, pretty much the same people since I started eating there several years ago. The food is always good, tasty, hot and consistent - nothing fancy, this isnt haute interior Mexican cuisine, this is standard Tex-Mex but they keep it simple and do it right. A big plate of yellow rice, refried beans, some lettuce and avocado wedges with a squeeze of lime, some pico de gallo, warm tortillas, real tamales, perfect enchiladas, excellent chunky pork chile verde (house speciality!), succulent carnitas (hunks of pork basted and cooked in a hot oven until crispy outside and tender inside - yum!) and some of the best chiles rellenos Ive ever had anywhere. Lots of food and cheap prices, strong drinks and cold beer - several Mexican varieties. Even the flan for dessert is delicious - whats not to like?!

This place is close to me so I started going there often. Im a vegetarian so I always substituted meat for beans. The food is really good, I cannot deny that. Despite their food being good, they would often get my order wrong. Countless times I would have to go back to get the correct food. I didnt mind going back since it is close to me. After a while it became a frustrating process. I started to double and triple check my orders with staff and even than 7/10 times it would still be wrong. Tonight was the last straw, I had a simple order of pick two: cheese quesadilla and a bean tostada. Instead, I got a bean quesadilla (a tortilla with just beans in them?)... bean quesadilla isnt even a part of the pick two let alone even on the menu. Again, this order was repeated 2-3 times for verification. It no longer matters how good the food is if I get the wrong order almost every time.

This was my first time eating here. I give the food here 2.5 - 3 stars. If Im to rate the food with a letter grade, it would be a C or average. My tamale was very firm in texture. I wonder if it was premade and they just heated it up. The taco shells looked and tasted like the ones from the grocery store where you just heat them. The rice looked old and was dried out and some of it was a bit hard They use iceberg lettuce which provides little nutrition. The chips were quite hard and maybe were cooked too long. The food looked and tasted like some of the quick chain store restaurants Ive had. It did not look authentic and maybe the ingredients were not very good quality and things were not made fresh. Ive had much better Mexican food. There is a small Mexican restaurant called Tijuana Taco VI in Glen Burnie that serves better food.

This place is a long standing joke among my family and friends. Even calling it "Mexican" food sounds stupid. My mother went and ordered a Chile Relleno. She got a pile of rice and cheese with a small strip of chili on top. I ordered a Burrito, and got a soggy pile of mush. The part that stands out most, and that everyone I know has commented on, is the "house sauce" they seem to put on EVERYTHING. The texture is that of slime with a bit of grit in it, and it tastes just like salsa mixed with cheap barbecue sauce. BARBECUE SAUCE??? The place is also very dirty, loud, and tacky. Its enough that stories of this place are constantly coming up, without any prompting. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Decent "mexican" restaurant. As a vegan, I chose a couple of bean burritos with guacamole. Delicious. Seats are wooden with very tall, straight backs, which was a bit uncomfortable for me. There was a small child with his parents seated in the booth behind me and it was incredibly noisy just from that one family - booths are back to back and wide open so there isnt much privacy or intimacy. The staff are super friendly and seem to remember if youve visited even once in the recent past. Drinks are good. Service isnt terribly fast, but not so bad.

Id give them 2.5 stars if I could. Im not sure who our waiter was as there seemed to be several. They forgot or didnt understand part of the order and we had to get someone 5 minutes after the food was served for that and hot sauce. When you serve food you just dont check on people at the end of the meal...ESPECIALLY ON A SLOW NIGHT. $11 for a large margarita that doesnt provide anyone a buzz gets you 2 stars. Was clean enough. Food was OK, but nothing to rave about. Definitely not a favorite or place I would return.

Asked for no meat and no cheese, woman I assume is a manager rolled her eyes at me for this request. Also told this to a male waiter who confirmed that my order back to me and still brought out a ground beef taco. Also guacamole salad consist of shredded lettuce, a spoonful of guacamole and a few pieces of diced tomato. Salsa was also mild, with no seasoning and tasted like water. Im all for supporting mom and pops but skip this one.

Im not sure where the last reviewer ate, but my impression of Plaza Garibaldi is quite different. The food was delicious, the salsa is perfect and I even commented to my dinner companion about how clean it is! The chicken in the Enchiladas is so yummy...moist, flavorful and tender. The service was great and the staff friendly. Considering the line of people waiting to eat, Im happy to have found such a great place to eat!

Amazing authentic mexican resteraunt! Ive been coming here for about 7 years now, and its still my favourite place in the area. The interior is all hand-painted walls, hand-made paintings and tables, very nice. There is plenty of staff, and everyone is able and wlling to help with anything, whether or not they are your "official" waitor. Best Chili Relanos Ive ever had, and very good margharitas too!

Really good Mexican food in a pleasant and festive sit down restaurant. There is a wide variety of food to chose from and everything I have tried has been good. Prices are really good here to. As for the wait, we have young kids and eat on the early-side, but the wait here is usually better than at the nearby Mexican chain establishments. I am going here for dinner tonight, and cant wait!

This place typically has great food. My last experience with this place was not the best. The food quality was not what Id come to expect. The food was very tasteless. It tasted like a low quality microwave meal. Im willing to give it another shot in hopes they were just having a bad night last time. On top of it all, our server was hard to find and didnt pay much attention to me.
