Taco Bell is actually pretty amazing? A comparative analysis of fine dining vs fast food, for dummies.. Chapter 1 Expectations: When deciding to eat dinner at a fine dining restaurant vs a fast food joint some expectations are presumed. Good friendly timely service, nice potent potables, amazing food that takes a little longer to prepare but is worth the wait, affordability, and the most important, a fun environment followed by not being sick afterwards. Chapter 2 Comparison: - Service La Tolteca had terribly slow service full of mistakes and apologies with no compensation to mend the wounds. Taco Bell has conveniently fast service and when there is a mistake a get a whole bag a free tacos! - Potent Potables La Tolteca eventually served our table four $12-14 top shelf Margaritas that where just drink mix. Taco Bell doesnt offer alcoholic drinks but the Pepsi I ordered was straight Pepsi and it was a dollar and amazing! - Amazing Food LA Tolteca has an amazing looking menu with 150 different delicious options to pick from. Only in hindsight I realize that it isnt possible to be that good at making that many entrées which is why I was severed what I can only guess was Hamburger Helper with one pound of sour cream. I would like to say that I didnt eat it... Only one out of the four people finished the meal they ordered and it really doesnt matter who that was. One person didnt even touch what looked like a Cleveland steamer on a plate and instead sipped drink mix all night. The food might have actually been Garbage? Taco Bell has a decent size menu and everything they serve tastes Fing amazing. Dont even get me started on how many interventions I have had over the years relating to there deliciously tasty mild/fire sauce! - Affordability LA Toltecas final bill for a table of four was $108 dollars American, not pesos. Without tip, which should have been a very large negative number if I had my way. Taco Bells final bill for a table of four was around, hmm... well I know I had at least eight US dollars in my wallet and I picked up the tab. I think they gave me change! - Fun La Totecas had an aesthetically pleasing environment but all the fun was had by joking with each other about how awful everything was. At Taco Bell you can set by the window next to drive thru and just stare at everyone sitting there in their cars until its uncomfortably hilarious. - You feeling alright buddy? To be fare everyone felt terrible after dinner at La Tolteca, but everyone always feels bad after T-Bell. Chapter 3 Results: Depending what you are in to, both establishments have things to offer. If you get your rocks off by torturing yourself and others just so you can complain about the experience then La Tolteca is for you. If you love real authentic Mexican food the Taco Bell might be more up your alley.

I have to say first before two weeks ago this was my favorite place to eat. Last Saturday night at the Timonium location I had the most awful experience. Everything was great until I got the check. I called over the waiter and showed him that we were overcharged for two things. One the fried ice cream was charged two dollars more then what was advertised in the menu. The waiter Paco told me that they were changing menus and that was the new price. I told him that I understood that but it wasnt what I was expecting. Also that I wouldnt spend $8.00 on a scoop of ice cream. Also besides that fact that I didnt realize you had to pay a $1.00 a pop for a dollop of sour cream at a Tex Mex place they had charged us for four when we only ordered two. He told me he would have to get the manager to see if he could help me. The manager Louise came over and was annoyed before I even began to speak. I told him about the ice cream, he repeated about the menu change. Then after some back and forth he said he would adjust it. Then the same with the sour cream. He told me that I should know that every where is charging when you order extra condiments. Then proceeded to say well two dollars might be a lot of money to you but its really not that much. I told him that most places do not charge for extras and he said "Well maybe you should just eat somewhere else next time". I couldnt believe it. I was shocked that that was his response. I was totally calm during the whole ordeal and was never rude which was what was so shocking that he came off so combative towards me. It saddens me that I dont feel comfortable going back to this place again which I frequented at least once every two or three months.

Came here with a few friends on a Friday evening for dinner. This place was packed, and when we walked in, requested a table for four. The maître d’ did not know how long it would take for us to be seated, and directed us to the bar. We ordered drinks at the bar, and eventually the maître d’ came back and directed us to a table to be seated. The server was very nice, however, failed to mention that the beers we ordered were unavailable, came back to tell us that she forgot to put the order in the system and had us wait longer than usual for our entrees, and the food we received were not hot (it appeared that they have been sitting on the pass for quite some time). I understand the restaurant opened a few weeks earlier, but this is no excuse for what we have experienced.

Mediocre at best. Waiter was not friendly or engaging at all. Food was...boring and didnt taste high quality for the price point. A positive point was that the food came out quickly, but sometimes that can be an indicator they dont make the food to order, which I would guess is the case here. There was a gnat in my drink...which okay, its summer and doors/ windows are open maybe its just a fluke. But I also saw a dead bug in the bathroom, which were really not clean to begin with. Usable but not restaurant ready. Overall...disappointed and would not visit again.

Ive been going to La Tolteca in Bel Air since it first opened many years ago. Also went to Churchville location many times. I moved downtown about 4 years ago so I was very happy to see one open here. I am sorry to say this place sucked both times. I am so sad :( The restaurant itself looks nice. The service both times wasnt good. The margaritas tasted like just sour mix. Errors in the orders were made. The food is just sub par to what I am used to getting from La Tolteca. I will not visit this location again.

Service was terrible. We asked for unsweetened tea, were told they were out. As my wife is a diabetic, water was the alternative. Food arrived cold. We asked for corn tortillas, they served flour tortillas. We told the server the error, that we wanted corn tortillas, they never corrected the error. We eat all the time at La Tolteca restaurants in Harford County, Maryland and their service is all way excellent. Will think twice before giving La Tolteca, 2324 Boston St, Baltimore, a second chance.
