I went on a Friday night with a friend and my son. When we arrived the man who I guess was supposed to be a host looked at us with NO greeting just asked "How many?" I said 3 and he just walked away. We assumed we should follow and he sat us at a table with no dividers between the booths. It was like we sat with an elderly man waiting ice cream and reading the newspaper next to my son. It was very uncomfortable. We should have taken these signs and left. Diner food it typically quick and easy right? We were hungry, we just left a show, and we wanted some quick sandwiches before heading home. So we waited, and waited for our waitress. Sometime later the host came up from behind me and poked me in the shoulder and told me they only had 2 waitresses that night and ours would be with us in a moment. I couldnt even react, just looked at him because he just poked me and spoke at me from behind. The restaurant seems about 1/3 fill and about half already had food so we guess our food wouldnt take long. Our waitress would walk by us every once in a while and would mutter shed be right back to get our order. We still didnt have drinks. About 30 minutes after sitting she came and got our orders. A couple of cold sandwiches and a hot dog, all come with fries, I asked for onion rings. (Spoiler: I did NOT get the onion rings in the end.) 20 or so minutes later we got our drinks. About an hour into sitting there, we were about done with waiting but every time we (Yes, we had to stop our waitress!) stopped our waitress to inquire she would tell us ours was up next. Not a single time did anyone apologize for the wait. In fact, the waitress and host were both pretty rude. We watched people who came in AFTER us get their food. We stopped our waitress again as we were all out of drinks and just wanted to leave. We asked her to pack up what ever was made so we could leave. We stood up and waited at the register. Five minutes after we asked for our food to be packed up and ONE HOUR and twenty minutes after we arrived we paid for our food. Paying was even more of a hassle. We had asked for the checks to be split, she didnt do that but we werent waiting any longer so my friend just paid in cash and wed figure it out later. However, the host too about 5 minutes to count our change so we told him to keep it. In the end 2 hours after arriving at the diner I get home and opened my to-go sandwich and it was SOGGY and not what I ordered. Ridiculous.

I was surprised to see how this restaurant got such a low rating. Homemade cakes, pies and various desserts are offered here along with homemade milkshakes; in fact, pretty much everything appears to be made from scratch. Breakfast being served all day is an added bonus! The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone. We try something different every time we go (usually once a month, as we live far away) and are never disappointed. The portions are generous and my daughter and I usually get two (sometimes three) meals out of one plate. The staff is super friendly and helpful, I find it hard to believe that anyone here was rude to customers, they would have gladly replaced anything we were dissatisfied with, as the staff was diligent in attending to our needs. The owner even personal boxed up a pie that I bought as a gift for my sister. The decor is set in cute 50s style, along with oldies music. It is rare for me to give a 5 star rating, as I am usually disappointed with other restaurants when we go out. We will definitely be going back next month! A+++

They dont have dividers between the booths, so you have to keep extra quiet so you dont disturb the other people (Its like youre all sitting together.) The coat racks are high above the booth, so another persons coat will be two inches away from your face while you eat. Waitress was incredibly rude... to the extent that I started to wonder if her pay is based on tips. Gnats everywhere, but as long as nobody gets out of their seat- EVER- then it shouldnt be a problem. The hostess stand is also the place to pay your check, so as you are paying, the host is shouting over you to the people coming in. Also, if you are seated in a booth, be extra careful when you get up. The seat is not connected to the booth. The food however was really good and I would love to eat it again, but I will NEVER go back there.

A wonderful traditional Diner, great food, friendly service and the best home made Cheese cake one could ever hope for; “Don’t miss the cheese cake”. I have had cheese cake from NY, Jersey and Philly and this little diner in Frederick MD can show the big fancy restaurants how it’s done the right way. They have a large menu full of diversity and great food at more than reasonable priced... Greek owned by two wonderful gentlemen who don’t mind chatting with the customer when they are out and about in the dinner. If you’re looking for a great meal while in Frederick MD I suggest you dont miss Mountain View dinner. Your enjoy a great time and go home with much more cash in your pocket and not regret passing up the posh restaurants who fleece your pocket book. G.Conaway Woodbine MD

If you like diner food and a whole lot of it you need to visit the Mountain View Diner. I once asked the owner why they serve so much food, he said: "if you leave hungry its your fault". The portions are huge I always walk out with a doggie bag. I usually order breakfast because they will make poached eggs and they have scrapple on the menu and make it to my specifications. Chicken salad is very good, and they make the tuna salad the way I like it with just mayo. Try Mountain View and bring your appetite

There is something for everyone here. Breakfast, lunch and dinner or just a cup of coffee make this place a local favorite. There is a wide variety of american plate and selections with Greek influences. It is obvious the food here is prepared on site with fresh ingredients. The deserts are to DIE for!!!! Homemade pies, cakes and cheescakes are a dieters nightmare! If youre looking for a very casual place to satisfy everyones cravings this is your place.

My rating is below average simply because of the cleaniness of the place. Bathrooms leave alot to be desired. Nats are the worst, constantly swatting them away from your table and food. Has anyone ever cleaned the ceiling fan blades? Sure does something to your appetite once your seated and start to observe. My god, the seats look like they havent been wiped down since I dont know when and also the window sills needing a good scrubbing and paint.

Breakfast food was not appetizing. Browned pancakes with house syrup tasted bad. Pancakes were thin. Very sparse on whipped butter. Syrup had an odd flavor. Sent back breakfast. Other breakfast eggs over medium were runny on bottom. Hash browns were rubbery not cooked through. Bacon, ham and sausage were good. Good service. Womens bathroom outdated and not cleaned well. Second visit there. Disappointed.
