This is the best Korean BBQ place for the family. All the other places seem to tend to a younger crowd and honestly I want to be able to talk to my wife while enjoying some KBBQ! FOOD - The food is outstanding, especially since this is one of the few places that beats my Moms cooking (mostly... :P). This is also one of the few KBBQ places where you get a ton of the side dishes (BON CHON... not to be confused with the chicken place). The highlight of many people who come for a first time visit is that the rice wrapping squares are something you dont normally see but is a great add-on. KBBQ isnt all this place does Shin Chon also does the Korean classics like Nangmyun and Haemul Pajeon. However most people head to Shin Chon for the KBBQ, which is the best Ive had in all of DC, VA, MD, and Baltimore. SERVICE - The service is good, especially when you realize this place is always packed and they are never just sitting around. MISC. - The owners are usually in and sometimes stop tables to check on people to make sure everything is going well. Shin Chon is highly regarded on many of the review sites. You can look it up for yourself but its better to go and be the judge yourself. If there is to be one or two minuses, and it is super minor, is that Shin Chon while not super expensive is on part with many Korean restaurants and wont break the wallet but isnt going to be like eating off the dollar menu at Mcdonalds. This place is always packed and I mean if you dont have a reservation on a Friday or Saturday night you might not be able to get in. So I suggest that if you can plan ahead make a reservation. You dont need to do it a week in advance just a few hours prior.

My husband and I have been coming to this place a lot in the past few years. Food is good, but a bit overpriced, still no complaint about that... Service is... Just to describe it as nice as I can... One can definetly tolerate it. Yesterday we came for lunch, ordered two dishes of pork grilled at the table, when we asked for a refill of side dishes one of our servers said ok, and never returned back... In a period of 15 min, we were approached by the other woman, who also happened to be a manager/ casheer, we repeated our request, and her response was that according to their policy, we only refill side dishes once, which is fine, so then I asked her if I can pay extra for another round of side dishes, and her response was:" we no sell no side dishes to you"... I did not know how to respond to that at the time. If you hate customer service, people- go find another job, lady!!! Finished our meal, NEVER AGAIN! Will spend my money some place else!!! Best of luck!!!

This is the best Korean restaurant in the Baltimore area. Unless you want to drive even farther to VA or DC. Good food, good prices. The ladies that work give pretty typical Korean restaurant service. They leave you alone unless you ask for something. They want to cook your BBQ for you. They may slam down plates of food in front of you, especially if they are busy. But its not meant as a comment on you. Do not be offended you softie! They are busy! No time for niceties and small talk! If you speak Korean, they may even give you a hard time, about letting your BBQ get over cooked or under cooked. Typical Korean mothering from your Korean server! Dont be offended. Different cultures do things different ways. It doesnt mean that they are racist, or dont want to serve people who arent Korean. And yes, if they are really busy, they will probably rush you. They mean business. And Ill keep coming back. Again and again...

We just ate dinner here and it was horrible. We typically go to Han Sung off of St. Johns lane but realized today that they closed. We really wanted Korean food so decided to give this place a shot. At Han Sung we would get bulgogi and haemul pajeon, both were always delicious. We ordered the same at Shin Chon today. While the beef was tender, the marinade was sweeter than what were used to. The pajeon was absolutely horrible it was doughy and the seafood was both overcooked and not fresh. We informed the waitress that we were not happy with the dish and asked that it be taken back and removed from the check. Both waitresses that we spoke to looked annoyed by our request even after I explained that it was our first time here. Needless to say, after spending $50 for a disgusting meal and sub par service, we will not be going back.

I went there lunch time on Sat. Too busy so low quality of service and the table was dirty.... the taste of kimchi was not good. bibimbab was not fresh, but miso soup was fine. I recommend Tongnamoo house if you are looking for Korean restaurant.

The Korean BBQ was quite good. I went to this place at the recommendation of a Korean friend and after reading the other reviews. I wanted to avoid a long wait so dined here on a Monday rather than the weekend. I didnt think it any better or worse than Honey Pig which a lot of other reviewers have compared it to. I didnt see a menu online prior to visiting so I uploaded photos of the menu for others when considering this restaurant. If I have the time, I might return for a lunch special to try a few other items from the menu. I enjoyed their bulgogi and pork belly during my visit. The price is pretty much what you expect for Korean BBQ in the area.

Very good authentic Korean food, reminds me of when Ive been stationed to Korea, and also studied there in the past. Feels like the place was picked up by a giant in Seoul and dropped here. Complete with the table button you press for service (the wait staff will mostly leave you alone unless you press the button, as is common in Korea) and the little digestive aid yogurt drinks after your meal. Only gripe is that we always have to ask for rice, but it may be because other white people dont eat their bap (rice) and the restaurant doesnt want to waste rice. Have eaten here several times over the course of several years and is always good.

As inattentive service for Korean barbecue as you can get. $$$$$$$$lPRICEY and BAD taste after $87 plus tips for only 3 items . Gamey meat dripping with fat came out 40 minutes late brought to wrong table first and passed off to us after we hailed waitress to our table without apologies YUCK. Again No apologies by waitress here for soup dish 20 minutes later only a smirk like did they did you a favor by even feeding you. You need to re-train owners not staff on etiquette and manners. Its supposed to be a restaurant not a mess hall. There are tons of great places in Ellicott city, this has to one the worst ,hands down.

Authentic Korean BBQ. There are a large number of Korean BBQ places in Ellicott City, but Shin Chon is by far the best. Although slightly more expensive than many of the nearby competitors, the increase in food quality is worth the cost. The Banchan and rice are both excellent, which compliments the meat. They have set meal options for groups of 4-6, but I prefer to order a la carte, to focus on preferred dishes. The bulgogi here is fantastic. (I should mention they also serve Sushi and standard Korean food, but Ive only ever eaten the BBQ)
