I have now gone here 5 times, and every time it was fantastic! The server are wonderful! The only complaint is the girls who work the front carry out can be short at times, but everyone else has a friendly and helpful personality. Every time Ive gone the manager comes over to say hello and ask how my daughter is! The food is great! I loved in the Bronx for several years and since moving back to Harford county I have not been able to find any Jamaican good that is closer then 1 hour. I highly recommend this place! The homemade red velvet cake is to die for! Yes, its a little pricey but when you consider everything is fresh and made there, the price is where it should be. If people want cheap food go to Mcdon! If you want a clean environment with a well prepared meal made from people cooking with some heart, then you need to stop in!

Atmosphere: 5 Service: 2 Food: 3 This was my first time at this establishment. I was craving Jamaican food and this restaurant had good reviews on Google so my friend and thought to try it out. When we pulled up to the restaurant I thought it had curb appeal and when I walked in it match the outside. I was excited about eating here until I was greeted by a hostess/cashier that was really rude. She had a demeanor that seemed like we were irritating her. The place was packed so we had to order take out. The food arrived in a timely manner and the presentation was nice but the servings were very small for the price. The food was warm basically almost cold. The food did not taste like authentic Jamaican cuisine. I ordered jerk chicken with white rice. The rice was salty. Overall, I would say I was not satisfied.

This was an absolutely horrible experience. I traveled 3 hours from Virginia to meet my parents here for dinner. We waited in the lobby for 10 minutes to be seated. I asked the waitress can we seat ourselves because we waited so long. She stated give her one minute and she will take care of us. Five minutes later we were told they were not seating anyone else because they closed soon. That is unacceptable and bad business. A waitress walked by us five times that could have alerted us to that fact. The establishment really needs to work on better customer service. Your servers were rude and disrespectful. You definitely lost my business.

Im from Browns Town Jamaica and I can honestly say this is the BEST Jamaican food Ive had outside of Jamaica. You will not get more authentic and delicious food anywhere else- and its right in my backyard! YAY! The chicken soup will change your life. I see several complaints on here about cook time and price. Folks, everything that comes out of the kitchen is made from SCRATCH. You can go to Dennys down the road and get quicker service, but youll be eating frozen (and fake!) food popped in a microwave or frying pan. Additionally, I will pay a buck or two more for authentic, made from scratch Jamaican food any day.

This place is always busy when I go. Which is a good sign. The escovitch fish is my favorite. Its always fresh and the portions are okay for the price. Ive also had the oxtail , and curry goat with roti. I was skeptical at first to try out this restaurant because coming from a West Indian background and from New York where there is a West Indian eatery on every other corner. I was thinking the food would be too commercialized. But nope! Glad I gave Island Spice a shot. The decor is also nice as well as the atmosphere.I will continue to be a patron as long as they stay consistent and so far they have. 5 stars!

I am sorry to say it but the way the cabbage and rice and peas are made definitely Trinidad tradition. I do pick up because I am always on the the go and boy do the girls at the front desk have an attitude. Not only that my boyfriend and I witnessed the owner serving people they knew in front of us....like what was that all about. I am being a completely honest as I can because I can not stand rude service but this is the only half decent place close by where I can enjoy west indies food but pretty soon Id rather take the drive to the city where its affordable and authentic.

Went there for lunch today and the food was good and served in a very timely manner. I had the Curry Goat which is my staple for trying a new Jamaican restaurant. The goat was a better cut than I was used to and the curry very flavorful and lightly spicy. The plating itself was very appealing as well. The house drinks were very good I had the Pineapple Ginger and that alone is worth coming back for. Now the meal did have a few minor short comings. The Jamaican Cabbage was very good if a touch under done. The Rice and Peas were dry and less flavorful than Im used to.

We bought food from Island Spice and order it for Takeout. No one in restaurant except other take out customers. We decided to eat our food we purchased from Island Spice in Island Spice and was ask to leave because we bought their food for take out. HOW RUDE is that. We will never return. The food was not true Jamaican style. It was missing true Jamaican seasonings/spices. I was driving for 6 hours and just wanted a taste of home. GREATLY DISAPPOINTED AND THEN RUDELY PUT OUT BECAUSE WE BOUGHT TAKE OUT. THAT MAY BE WHY THAT TIP JAR IS SO LIGHT.

I visited Island spice with a friend on yesterday. The atmosphere made you feel that you were in the Caribbean. The wait staff and owners wetter warm and friendly. The OX tails were well seasoned, tender, they just melted in your mouth. Rice and peas were cooked to perfection (not stiff and starchy). Cabbage were moist not overcooked. Peach-mango juice was the best. Last but not least, the red velvet cake was the all that it should be. Nice portions, and pricing didnt break the bank. Im looking forward to going back there in a few weeks!!!

I grew up with home cooked Jamaican food via babysitters as a kid in Queens. Island Spice alright, but I feel like they are trying cater to that Bel Air crowd with their prices. I was annoyed at two the pieces of plantains I received as my alleged side. I asked for more and was told, "no". Royal Maroon at Park Heights and Belvedere Ave in Baltimore City would never short you on plantains.

Being of Jamaican heritage I am glad to report the cuisines authenticity as the "real deal". Flavors are awesome. Ive sampled: Ackee and Saltfish, Calalloo, Curry Goat, and Brown-stew Chicken. All have proven to be delightful. The Reggae music is a nice plus. The decor is upscale and enjoyable. Service is pleasant with smiles. I will definitely be a frequent regular visitor.

So I have not been here for a bit over 3 years and was in the mood for some Jamican food. I got the wife Jerk Chicken platter. And myself I grabbed the Curry Goat. At first I was skeptical of trying the goat but, boy am I glad I did. It is amazing and the taste was way better then I imagined. Will definitely be trying out some other dishes next time I get the chance.
