Today I had the pleasure of sitting next to two ladies. One in the military and another a military spouse. We arrived shortly before them and it took several minutes for the waiter to come serve us for the first time. It was busy and this was understandable. However, over the next 60 minutes nobody returned to our table to check on us. As we saw many people who had arrived after us already receive their food, we were concerned. So we kindly stopped a waitress to ask where our food was. She rudely informed us that they were busy, which we could see. But after an hour with no service we were still concerned. So the active military lady asked for the manager, and the waitress proceeded to say that it is her brother and if the lady wanted her, she would have to walk up and speak with him. Finally the manager came over and spoke just as rude as his sister about how busy they were. He also told these ladies that they could just leave. Never have I ever heard a manager tell someone they could just leave.. After the very unprofessional manager and waitress left, they proceeded to call the cops for a disturbance. Boonsboros finest, Officer Taylor, came and asked what happened and it was described exactly how it happened. Yet these kind and military involved ladies were forced to leave the restaurant only moments after receiving their food. Not only was I displeased with the service, I was upset with the police for being disrespectful to the lady in the military. All around horrible experience. This lady serves our country and gets treated like this. Totally shocked at this restaurant. Its not making a good representation for Nora or this towN.

I’m writing to express my extreme concerns with regard to the contaminated food my family and I were served at the Vesta Pizzeria and Family Restaurant, 2 South Main Street, Boonsboro, Maryland, on August 22, 2010. We first discovered the likelihood of food poisoning when the cheese ravioli my six-year-old- daughter was served could not be cut with a fork. With some effort, it could be cut with a knife, whereupon we discovered that the interior of the ravioli was black, and emitted a four odor reminiscent of a dead animal. We reported this matter to the server, who seemed unconcerned. No person in a position of responsibility ever came to discuss the infected food with us. None of my family ate more than a fragment of their meals, the sight and smell of the ravioli having nauseated all of us. We were charged for our full meals, save for the tainted ravioli. (My daughter dined only on a handful of potato chips and a pickle; I, on part of a sandwich.) When I noted to the cashier—presumably the manager—that our food was unacceptable, he snatched money from my wife’s hand and ordered us to leave the restaurant. Upon arriving home, my wife, who consumed only a portion of a “Palace” salad, became extremely ill, with symptoms of food poisoning that included incessant, concurrent diarrhea and vomiting. While we intend to initiate litigation against this establishment for the suffering associated with serving my family contaminated food, I believe it would be appropriate for your agency to scrutinize the hygiene conditions at an establishment that is clearly a threat to public health.

UPDATE: Now that Vesta is under new management, service has greatly improved. Food is good, response time is acceptable. Thank you for addressing our concerns! Previous Review: Would rate below 1 star if possible. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Spent 15 minutes on hold trying to place a delivery order. Hung up and called back, immediately placed on hold before I could even get a word in. Immediately hung up and called back again, asked to speak with a manager. Placed on eternal hold again. Drove to Vesta, and asked to speak to a manager. The person working the counter (who seemed too busy to help me anyway) went back to what he was doing, and said something to an older woman who I assume is the manager. The older woman then continued working. After about 5 minutes of waiting while she made several pizzas, I looked at the two of them and told them to forget it, then promptly left and purchased dinner elsewhere, after wasting a total of about 30 minutes of my time.

Worst experience ever! If I could give LESS than 1 star, I would. This was my third of fourth time to this restaurant, and Id never had a bad experience, until this time. We ordered and 50 minutes later were still waiting for food and the waiters/waitresses never came back to check. When we saw multiple tables that had ordered after us, receive their food, eat, AND pay before wed received our food, we talked to a waitress. She proceeded to tell us, with an attitude, that THEY WERE BUSY. And, her brother is the General Manager. HE, said that if we didnt like it, we can leave. We finally got our food... Then they called the police on us. Unbelievable... I have never seen such horrible service or horrible people in my life. I will never return to this restaurant. The owner, Dan, was very kind when we spoke with him. He apologized for his staff, and went immediately to have a talk with them. Sadly, this doesnt change my decision to never return to this restaurant.

I am astonished by the comments below. I was at this pizza shop with my daughter on Saturday, February 18, 2012. My daughter said the gyros were always wonderful so we had gyros, pizza and cannoli. This was the best gyro I have ever eaten. The best pizza I have ever eaten and the best service and conversation I have ever had at a pizza shop. We will drive back to Vesta, not only for the book store this time but for the divine food at Vesta Pizza. I must mention that we attended the book signing this day at Turn the Page bookstore and heard many comments on the wonderful pizza at Vesta. Some of the help were eating pizza behind the counter and the aroma was divine. I am a fussy person who has run a restaurant for many years. This place is SUPERB!

This was great. When we first walked in, the cook brought us a highchair for the table and was extremely nice. The place was very clean and nothing looked dirty at all. We ordered our food and it came back in a speedy manner. I had ordered a Texas Cheeseburger. It was Perfectly cooked, and was absolutely delicious. The My mother had ordered a different burger, it was also very great. We got our check in a speedy time as well. Overall, I gave his place a 4 because the food, and atmosphere was amazing, however our waiter was very withdrawn, I ordered sweet tea and got unsweetened. He was also very quiet so when he asked if I wanted more to drink I couldnt hear him. BUT I give a great recommendation!

This is a sorry excuse for a hometown establishment. My family has given this place every opportunity to make things right, but they fail every time. I will tell you that the food is above average, but the service is the worst Ive ever seen. The last instance, we were not even given the courtesy of a hello, or the start of a nice evening. We eventually just walked out. The owner needs to shake things up and either hire someone who knows how to manage or hire a better customer friendly staff, or this place will go under for sure. The staff is not aware that they are slowly killing this place. I will not return.
