I ordered the meatloaf, exactly as described on the menu, toped with what I think was a bright homemade catsup and a light, brown gravy accompanied by nicely seasoned mashed potatoes and "spring vegetables" .Definitely needed some crunch and color on the plate for balance of the dish. However the spring vegetables were a bust, comprised of 4 large fingerling potatoes and 5 super skinny "roasted" dry carrots. Meatloaf demands green beans! The carrots, less aggressively prepared would have been fine though. But who in their right mind would pair mashed potatoes with a serving of fingerling potatoes? When I asked the disinterested bartender about the strange plating he had no clear reply. However said he would mention it to the chef.I sure hope so! 2/3 of the plate was tasty, but all in all the meal was 2 notes. My date ordered the pulled pork type dish and he too wished he had some crunch like a slaw or green beans as well. Perhaps autumnal vegetables would be a better call. But Ill try them again, as the diner has only been open for a week, and I am rooting for them to be a success. We enjoyed the 4 large whimsical art panels over the bar, and the overall vibe of the bar dining area (extra star)

Service was moderate, food was mediocre. Went for breakfast about 3 or 4 months back and at that time they opened earlier for breakfast during the week than their current opening time of 11 a.m. I went with a friend,, probably around 8:30 or 9 am. I asked about an item on the breakfast menu on the website (avocado toast or somethign like that) and the server told me it was only served for breakfast. We were having breakfast. So.... Since there was nothing else plant based on the breakfast menu that was available for the "early" breakfast, I asked if an item could be modified, but i was told the cook would not allow it. Okay then. My friend and I vowed never to return. This is probably the worst iteration of this cursed restaurant space. And that is saying something because the Shoo-Fly diner was not only horrible, but brought shame on my family when we brought a famous poet there after a show. I had to make up for it by taking the guy to Petes Grill the next day. I see now that they have stopped trying to serve breakfast weekdays, and now open at 11 a.m. Good idea to streamline. But, if you are only open limited hours and dont serve breakfast, can you even call yourself a diner?

After waiting quite a while for a table for 6, we were seated upstairs where there were many, many tables open (and looked like they had been for a while). Our server took several minutes to greet our table and get drinks. When the freshly squeezed orange juice arrived it was literally a half glass (either use a smaller glass or fill with ice!); it was tasty, though. Our Chia puddings, while delicious, were delivered with no spoons. My fiance and I each got the Huevos Rancherous which was completely underwhelming. The meat had no flavor and they skimped on the beans and sauces. To add to our less than stellar experience, there was a woman in street clothes taking photos inside the restaurant (with flash) almost the entire time we ate. We assumed she was taking promotional shots but we were never approached with an explanation or a request for permission. It was just weird. Overall, unless we are desperate or things improve, we will not be returning to Starlight anytime soon.

We finally had breakfast here, hoping this incarnation wont be doomed like past restaurants at this space. But doomed it may be. Great decor, pretty good food that almost meets the relatively high price point, good coffee. Truly random music, as others commented. Very cold inside on a cold, gray day....weird. I think its a hard space to heat well. Service was disappointing, given 90% empty tables and wait staff and kitchen staff wandering around the restaurant, bored. No coffee refills were offered in 50-60 minutes. Asked for one directly...it was forgotten. No spoons for coffee. No straws for drinks. No butter or jam for unbuttered toast. Asked for water refills twice, they were never delivered. Our server had 2 total tables, so who knows what the deal is. If I wanted to pay for expensive breakfast and be ignored by waitstaff, I could already go to Miss Shirleys just 2 neighborhoods away. Hoping these guys can improve, it has great potential to be a go-to spot.

Micah(hostess) and Lee (server/bartender) were AWESOME! Micah acknowledged every customer who entered and exited the venue. It was a fairly slow day but the staff remaind busy maintaining the beautiful space. Starlite is the most fresh and inviting diner Ive ever been to. I walked in and immediately began planning a party in the space. Ohh and when I walked in Micah offered me a tour as she could see how intrigued I was with the space. Ohh man I didnt get the guy who deliver the food. He was very personable. After we finished our meal he came over and just had a pleasant casual conversation with us. Ok enough about the service because as you can see I was overly pleased with that aspect. The food.... lets just say I can not wait to go back. The dinks and food are very reasonably priced. Fresh and hearty portions. Just go see for yourself!!

Just returned from brunch at Starlite. The hostess didnt even give eye contact when seating us. I ordered poached eggs. When they arrived, they appeared to be raw. I said something to the waiter, but he said thats how poached eggs are supposed to be. (I have had them at other places before, they have never been that raw) I went ahead and ate one of the two; the potatoes were awful. Luckily, the toast and fruit were fine. My brunch companion enjoyed his shrimp and grits. However, he ordered an Arnold Palmer. When the bill came, we were charged $3.50 for iced tea and $2.50 for lemonade. I asked the waiter about that, as well. He said that he had to do that to make an Arnold Palmer. By the way, I had to go find my waiter, to even get the bill. I should have stiffed him on the tip, but I couldnt bring myself to do that.

We ate at Starlite for the first time on a Sunday evening, expecting an upscale , innovative diner restaurant. We were greeted outside of the entrance by one of the cooks smoking cigarettes. The cornbread appetizer was a single piece, not fresh. The Quinoi salad contained wilted greens and a large unappealing ball of cheese in the center. There were no pine nuts as was described in the menu. The short ribs taco was greasy, fatty, and tasteless. The pasta Al Forno looked and tasted like canned pasta. Overall the food was not fresh or tasty. One could fare just as well if not better at any roadside diner. Starlite had the appearance of a restaurant on the verge of going out of business.

If i could give this negative 4 stars i would. The decor is okay, well enough to distract from the mediocre, overpriced food. The music choice jumps from one generation to another. And the straws.... have no cover. So the waitstaff are handling the bare straw with their nasty, unwashed hands. Oh and the bartender, please someone advise him on a proper way to serve a double shot of vodka and a splash of tonic. Im pretty sure thats about as basic of a drink you can get so to mess that up, Im quite worried about the "specialty cocktails". All and all walk across the street to Neopol or Clark Burger. Spend way less money for amazing food and straws with the paper wrapping.
