I want to share the terrible experience I had with Brian Boru in downtown Portland Maine. Months ago I spoke with Charlie regarding hosting my sisters bridal shower there for today August 20th 2017. Through the course of the past few months Charlie was terrible at communicating with me.. often I had to send duplicate text messages within week spans to get any sort of response. I drove from Rhode Island to view the location a few weeks back and not only did he not show to this meeting... no one was there.. I ordered invitations and made special menus for each person... only to have Brian Boru contact me two days prior to my event to tell me they would be unable to host this event due to a lay off the week prior of kitchen staff. Not only do I find this last minute notice un reasonable and completely un professional but I would say the entire experience working with this location and manager was terrible! Please share this information with anyone who may want to book with them in the future! A HUGE THANK YOU to Sea Dog Brewing who saved the day and not only accommodated our large party but provided excellent food and atmosphere!

Bit of an out of the way location, meaning youll get locals and not tourists. They have an excellent upper deck with views over town (Ive been out there in February, Im that tough...). Upstairs they have live music some evenings and then place is packed. Pretty good beer selection downstairs. Havent tried the food but for some reason I dont have high hopes.

Very unimpressed. Bad food, slow service, and rude servers left a very poor first impression, but, because I had heard such good things from others, I gave them a second chance. Let me just say the second visit was worse than the first. I dont know if they used to be a solid bar but from my experience, Brian Borus has the worst service in Portland.

Its just far enough away from the tasteless and obese effluence from the cruise ships in Old Port (they would have to walk uphill), serves the best Guiness, Staff and regulars have the dryist wit and the food is awesome.

Went there to eat and say there for over 15 minutes for someone to come wait on us and no one showed. We ended up leaving. It also felt like people were looking at me like I didnt belong there and wasnt welcome.

Nice pub with outdoor seating. We had drinks only. But my review is mostly to thank the nice bartender (The lovely lady in nursing school) for the great tip on Hotel Portsmouth. Thanks, it was great!

Great location, love the warmth of the tap defenders. Check their exceptionally good sandwiches as well. Could be noisy, but I wish they had some sort of brunch special, one could work from there.
