Weve been here a few time. The habachi is good food and good quality, but dont expect Benihana. Good, not great. Id have the habachi again. The salmon is better than the beef...but I am biased toward fish. My husband always get steak and likes it every time. We also come and have a sushi roll or two and the rolls are good American-style rolls. The non-habachi dinners are also good American style Japanese food, though there is an over reliance on frying (for example, the gyoza in the bento boxes comes fried, not steamed, by default). Without problems, Id say these folks just barely stretch to 4 stars but they flunk deserts. First, their whipped cream isnt - its tasteless, not-even-sweet artificial whipped topping. And you can buy better Mochi ice cream at Trader Joes. The red bean ice cream had unexpected solid chunks of something (hard red beans? Ice-crystals?) All the red bean ice cream Ive had in the past was smooth, made with red bean paste, a filling in traditional Japanese treats. And the tempura ice cream (which I normally adore as a dessert) is not worth the money. Normally tempura ice cream is battered, fried, and immediately served...tempura coating warm, ice cream still mostly cold. The version Kobe serves has been fried at some earlier time, then frozen (so the ice cream has been made, slightly melted in the tempura frying, and then refrozen), cut in half before serving, plated, and served cold with the horrid whipped topping and drizzled with chocolate syrup (NOT in the dessert description or shown in the photo of the tempura ice cream on the menu, which looks totally different from what was served). As the person who makes the ice cream as part of my job at my boutique inn, let me describe what refreezing the ice cream did in the frozen tempura ice cream: it removed the overrun and recrystalized the ice particles much smaller than than they ought to have been, making it too hard and destroying the normal ice cream texture. Ice cream is a very texture dependent food. Too much or too little overrun (air content) and/or too large or too small ice crystals make for bad ice cream. Refreezing the ice cream in the Kobe tempura ice cream ruined the taste and the texture of the ice cream and the non-standard way it was prepared at Kobe ruined it as a dessert I usually love. Nope, their desserts flunk which why they get three stars.

I would love to be able to give a five star review, but just cannot. I have been to your restaurant twice within the past four months and both times have been less than satisfactory. The first time , my party was seated at the hibachi ..first one on the right as you enter . Although the chef was entertaining and very friendly..the experience was disappointing. The overhead exhaust that takes the smoke away while cooking was broken. After sitting and waiting for several minutes as the chef went back and forth trying to get it to work, myself and my party were left sitting with eyes burning and coughing from the amt of smoke. The fan was never fixed, nor were we offered a diff hibachi. Instead, we sat and endured the smoke. NOT a very pleasant dining experience..spoke to the hostess and she seemed aloof and offered to take "$7.00" off a bill of 10x that much ! My second visit was just this past Wednesday..March 29th. The chef again was somewhat entertaining, very friendly though..BUT the food was DEFINITELY not up to par! He cooked the rice for barely a minute..it was served under-seasoned an there were cold clumps of white rice on the plates. Filet Mignon was ordered medium doneness and it was rare. Even the vegetables seemed under cooked! The chef appeared to be rushing through the whole process. I was with a party of six and the bill was close to $200! A disappointing experience ...on my daughters birthday. It truly makes me hesitant to visit again. We did not bother to voice complaints because of the way our complaints were handled on the previous visit.

Went in on 8/9/14 with some friends before seeing a movie. First Ill say the restaurant was very clean. I look for that kind of thing. We sat at the Hibachi and meal was enjoyable. The food was fantastic, the prices were grounded. The portions were more than adequate. Portion size is another thing I look for. I am capable of eating a lot and I went away full. Not only that though I get easily irked when I get charged disproportionately to the amount of food I received. The chef who worked at our hibachi was extremely skilled and entertaining. The atmosphere was light and the chef was interactive but not overly intrusive. The servers were all accurate and attentive. Thats something else I look for. I usually drink a lot of water and I never had an empty glass. That always increases the tip from me. It was more impressive considering the influx of people around 5 pm. The place was bustling and I would imagine more difficult to keep things straight but the staff kept things moving smoothly. Overall Im giving the place a perfect score. I hope to be back many times in the future.

Hands down my favorite Hibachi/Sushi place in the Greater Bangor Area. The food here is always good, and on the off chance something is done incorrectly, it has always gotten fixed right away. I especially love their sweet potato maki, and several of the noodle dishes. The service is also excellent, the hostess and very polite, the servers are always friendly, and the manager will sometimes come around and ask how your meal was if he is not too busy. The drinks are excellent as well, but I have less experience with them because I would rather spend the money on the delicious food available! They can get very busy on Friday and Saturday nights, so I suggest getting their early, especially if you want hibachi!

Went to Kobe on 1/28 with my girlfriend because I had never gone before. I had high hopes because Ive only heard good things and it has great reviews, but my experience was not what I thought it would be. Our server was rude (I would include her name but she didnt tell us what it was,) and messed up a part of my order. Shortly after I saw her bring the wrong drinks to the table next to us, so it clearly wasnt just a one time mistake. When our food arrived everything looked great and tasted amazing (I got the orange chicken and crab rangoons) but both my girlfriend and I have felt sick ever since leaving. Im not the type to write poor reviews, or any reviews at all. I was truly expecting to love this place!!

It was our first time going to Kobes last night...then off to the PBR rodeo (03-11-16). It was a lot of fun. Made a perfect evening. We sat at the hibashi grill table and watch a nice show. The food was great. The only thing that needs improvement was the front. The girl automatically expected us to understand the terms she was using. It woulld have been nice if she asked if we had been there before and from there do a brief 30 second explanation. She lacked the skills to do an appropriate introduction of the business. But everyone else was supperb, our waitress, the entertaining chef, bus staff... And the food was to die for.
