I really, really wanted this to be a 5 star review. I love breakfast - I could eat it four or five times a day, and the wife-unit loves various egg dishes - so this place seemed right up our alley. But they missed... Atmosphere: Some neat extras on the wall, but overall very loud since it is just one huge open area with no sound baffles. Service: We sat at the bar and had a friendly (although loud) conversation with the bar tender. Minor complaint in this department was the wife finished her coffee drink shortly after the food was delivered and they didnt ask if she wanted more / anything else. Perhaps we should have made more eye contact while eating. Cost: Reasonable, if itd been cooked better... Food: The most important part, and the reason its 2 stars. Sorry for all the text, I promise Im a man of few words - so theyre required... Wife-units Eggs Cochon: overall she enjoyed them, but noted a few things regarding her plate: 1. there wasnt enough sauce, 2. her bacon wasnt crispy (as requested), 3. the egg was almost cold (even sitting on top of warm meat). You can see from the pics on yelp the inconsistency in the sauce... some have quite a bit, others very little. My "cheesecake" french toast: unfortunately worse. Actually, again you dont have to look any further than the pictures on yelp of the french toast or pancakes to again see how inconsistently they are cooked. Mine was basically burned on one side of the bread (even darker than any of the pictures I see on yelp), and the other side was completely uncooked. Maybe they thought it would even out? ;-) I realize theyre kinda making a sandwich with the "filling" between two pieces of french toast, but it ends up being too soggy if they dont fry both sides of the toast. In summary, I can see, with the right cook, how so many people might like it. But with the inconsistency, Id be hard pressed to go back since there are so many other choices...

Order: Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict, Pineapple Cheesecake Stuffed French Toast, Cappuccino Pros: Delicious food, crazy variations on standard breakfast items Cons: Really heavy food Thoughts: The Ruby Slipper is an interesting, and delicious, blend of creole and southern breakfast comfort foods. Most of their menu consists of those amazingly delicious, gut wrecking, artery clogging amazingness (think biscuits, gravy, sauces, fried, and butter). Then, to give it their own unique take on things they add a creole flair to it. For us this meant adding shrimp and andouille sausage to the eggs Benedict and stuffing the french toast with a pineapple cream cheese concoction. We went here for our final breakfast in NOLA and I feel like that was the best time we could have gone. The breakfast was very heavy and we spent the next few hours walking around the city burning off the breakfast. Heavy DOES NOT equate to bad in any way, in fact the food was delicious. What it means is that you definitely wouldn’t want to eat here each day, and you probably wouldn’t want to eat here and then sit for a long time, unless you want to fall into a food coma LOL. I really enjoyed their unique take on breakfast items but would definitely hold off on visits for days I either really need some comfort food or when I need to only eat 1 meal that day.

This place is pretty darn good! This place is just about a couple feet away from the main street, and once you turn the corner it is hard to miss, especially with the large crowd right in front of it. This was probably my only complaint as the crowd was huge and the wait was long. There is no actual waiting area so every one is either standing on the sidewalk or just spilling on to the streets, waiting to be called by voice (they need an intercom or a better way to notify). Once they did call our name, we were sat in the counter area, which nice as it gave an old diner feel. Our order were taken with no problems I had ordered the Banana Fosters Pain Perdu, which was very delicious and not overly sweet. My girlfriend decided to be slightly healthier and order the Catfish Coubion, which was refreshingly tasty. Both dishes were hefty in sized leaving us stuffed! Prices were pretty decent as well with items ranging from $10 to $15. If you can stand the wait, definitely worth checking out and trying!

We walked past this place on a Sunday morning and the line was down the block. We figured that meant it had to be good, so we came back the next day to give it a try. Even at 9:00 AM on a Monday morning, there was a 20-minute wait for 2 people. We both ordered the Southern Breakfast, and then had immediate order-regret when we saw the different eggs Benedict varieties being dropped off at tables nearby. The Southern Breakfast was okay, but not great. I asked for crispy bacon, but it was under-done, and the over-easy eggs had runny whites which was kind of gross. But, the biscuit was huge and delicious and it came with an irresistible brown sugar butter. The Bloody Mary (virgin, no-less) was fantastic as well. The service was friendly and very fast paced. I think this may be worth 5 stars if you order the right thing - if I get the chance to go back, I would definitely go with one of the many eggs Benedict options.

First things first be prepared to wait if going at prime breakfast/brunch time. Our waitress was good but I am pretty sure she was working half the floor so I never did get a 2nd drink but that was ok it wasnt the best brandy milk punch Ive had. They served it in a tall glass of ice and just tasted watered down. My fiances mimosa was pretty good though and I dont care for OJ mimosas. Both of our dishes were EXCELLENT!! I had the banana foster french toast & he had a some sort of eggs benedict spin off that was a biscuit, shredded pork, a poached egg and they said hollandaise but was a bit more cheese sauce like to me. Either way the seasoned pork on it was just awesome.I couldnt stop stealing bites of it. The other folks at our table go the basic breakfast items which didnt look nearly as tasty or worth it. Stick to the speciality menu. They had a daily special apparently but wasnt mentioned when we sat down.

Went there for breakfast and found a large lineup. Although their were showers off and on we, like many others decided to make a reservation and were told our wait was 30 minutes. Came back a half hour later and found the people beside us had been waiting an HOUR. They went in and asked how much longer they were told it was another 20 minutes. My husband checked how much longer for us and was told another half hour! We were hungry so we left. There were two dirty tables outside that had been sitting like that for at least 15 minutes with no effort to clean them and offer the table despite the weather. Either their staff is poorly estimating wait times or theyre giving tables to whomever they wish regardless of reservations. Either way, even if the food is good, they wont be getting my business.

My wife and I came here because of all the good reviews the place had. We decided this place would be the last place we visited for brunch before we left New Orleans. We got there right before the rush which was nice because we got to sit on down and order. However, our waiter was confusing with multiple items on the menu and just in general. I asked if the iced coffee was unlimited and he said it was but its not, only the regular coffee. I wanted shrimp and grits because I hadnt had it yet on our trip to NOLA but the waiter informed me 10 minutes after taking our order that they were out of shrimp. Really? At 11am? The main reason Im giving 3 stars is because the food we ordered was still good even though it wasnt what I wanted and the waiter was nice just very confusing.
