I judge Mexican cuisine based on how closely it resembles my second family home cooking (an actual family in Mexico that my family is good friends with) and this place drops the ball in all areas. Service: SLOW. I have been in slow service restaurants before, but this is an all time killer. Took half an hour to get my drinks after we sat down. The order was wrong the first time. Never got any refills unless we flagged the waitress down. Waitress was also very unapologetic and dispassionate. The worst part of this? The side we sat on was all empty save two other tables (of about 15) Food: The quality of the food was not what I expected at all. I ordered two tacos, enchiladas and tamales, and a fajitas plate for myself and my wife. The tacos were bland, with only meat lettuce and barely any tomatoes, no cheese or sauce/salsa either. The enchiladas were very salty, and the sauce on it tasted like it came out of a can. The tamale meat was dry and gritty. The only half decent thing was the Fajita plates. They came with decently seasoned beef strips and the vegetables were cooked properly at least. The chips and Salsa they brought out however took awhile to get to us and the salsa tasted like Pace. If I want Pace I can go to the store. Prices: Outlandish for the quality of service and food presented to us. Ive been to better restaurants for the same. Atmosphere: The only thing I felt was authentic was the Telemundo channel on TV. It really tries too hard to be culturally Mexican by overusing iconic gag aesthetics like sombreros, cactus and drunk Mexican paintings, when culturally, this is not what represents Mexico at all. Over all, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, even if you think you know Mexican food. Unless youve actually been to Mexico, youre not getting an authentic experience here and you are actually better off going to Taco Bell.

I really liked Superior Grill when I first got here - good atmosphere, we sat on the patio area which was nice, and the chips and salsa were delicious. However, it all went downhill from there. The waiter, Johnny, refilled everyones waters except my completely empty one even though my glass was literally 5 inches away from my neighbors. Then, I asked him specifically to refill mine when I ordered. No sign of my waiter for 30 minutes. Finally he came around with the water pitcher so I handed him my cup to refill. He then took my glass away and came back 15 minutes later with a refill. The food was alright - I ordered tacos, which is what it says on the menu, and received fajita tacos which are $5 more expensive. They were pretty good. Im from Texas, so it was nothing special and my tacos barely had any meat in them. We all finished our food at 9 pm and didnt leave until 10 pm - thats how long it took to pay. Service was so slow. Also, I had questioned the receipt because I didnt order fajita tacos, but told the waiter I would pay it anyway. The waiter came back when I finished paying and asked what was wrong with the price...I said nothing and I was fine paying for it. He kept questioning me about it. I dont know if it was just my server, but everyone was unhappy with him and he was awful. Food was way too expensive for what you got. Las Palmas on 73 is much better!

Alright... Weve been the the New Orleans location and this one is definitely nicer inside. I had high hopes based on the reviews and location. I knew the prices are a little higher than most tex-mex places but for $160 for 6 people at lunchtime... I sure do expect better quality meats. Im a big fajita fan and when I pay a little more, I expect the chicken to be a real chicken breast and the steak to be a real piece of steak. I can go to the discount tex-mex joint and get precut frozen for half the price. The salsa was bland. But thats where my dislike ends. The other meals like the burrito plates and child hamburger were great. We had two bar drinks that were great and cold. And we all left feeling full and well attended to. With so many local Mexican food venues... its tough competition and the experience overall was not judged to be worthy of a return trip by our party.

I visited Superior for the first time in a long time last night with high hopes. My salsa wound up having a very long black hair in it... which grossed me out so I sent it back. THEN, not too long after discovering the hair, the couple next to us found a ROACH in the mans taco after he had bitten into it. The wait staff seemingly brushed it off and didnt seem to care all that much... the manager was the only one that seemed semi-concerned. This was hands down THE worst restaurant experience I have ever had and the customer service was SEVERELY lacking. Its a pretty high priced place that prides itself on the best Mexican food in town (its not), and I do not recommend it to anyone... especially after my experience.

Food was amazing! Flavor is SO good. Being new to the area we have been having trouble finding good Mexican food. I love the mesquite smoked flavor and their margaritas! The only disappointment which must not be familiar with this far south is no sign of shredded beef chimichangas only shredded chicken or ground beef) ! This trip I had the pork tacos and fresh guacamole. Husband had an El Paso Plate which included a chicken enchilada, enchilada de queso with chile con carne, taco al carbon, tamale and a cheese chile relleno--all of which I tried and there wasnt any one I didnt like. Super excited to find a Mexican place worth going to in the area...and they have love music which we hope to check out some time.

If you are looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, look no further! The quality of food is second to none, and the service staff never disappoints. A sign of a truly great restaurant? Servers who stick around for years. Thats a testament to a great environment. Weve made numerous trips to this fine establishment over the years, and have enjoyed it every time. Their chips and salsa are consistent, as are entrees. The chicken and steak are always grilled to perfection. I cant recall ever having a subpar dish - even their tortilla soup is tasty. The atmosphere is upbeat. Television screens surround the dining area (typically showing sports). They also have a fairly sizeable bar. Five well-deserved stars.

Three star Michelin rating potential, great local establishment that has survived the post Hurricane Katrina life. In a pre katrina life it was a different realm of life. Now a decade later in nearly 2017. Baton Rouge needs more Michelin and James Beard award winning restaurants. Alot of legendary restaurants are worth the drool of victory. For its like a lemon tree growing in the parking lot; bring in a basket while you wait for your table. Well bring you an awesome scrumptious delight to try.

So, we went for dinner one night. I didnt eat everything on my plate, so I took it home with me. I brought it for lunch the next day, and was about to eat my rice. In the first forkfull, something that looked suspiciously like a maggot was in the rice. Thankfully I didnt eat any, however I was sufficiently grossed out to decide that I was never going to eat there again. Gross. The enchaladas suiza were great, though. Guess Ill just go to La Carretta from now on.
