My husband and I had to travel to Burlington, Ky for a job interview from Louisville. We were craving a salad bar and we have been accustomed to Golden Corrals FRESH salad bar and extensive array of buffet selections, including steak. We saw the Ponderosa sign and decided to give it a try, as we remember it being pretty nice, years ago. Unfortunately, we were sadly disappointed. The cashier/receptionist was very pleasant, initially. We were hungry and decided the buffet was O.K. so we ordered 2, along with 2 drinks. However, everything tasted like it was out of the can, there was a tray of sliced meat and gravy that I thought was roast beef, turns out it was liver, ewwwww! How many people actually eat liver in such quantities? There was huge pieces of link italian sausages, chicken fried and roasted and meatloaf that was more loaf (bread crumbs) than meat, thats all. There was only iceburg lettuce and limited choices for toppings. The rolls were terrible, pretty, but dry. The desert bar had a limited variety of choices, and the ice cream was predictable. I will say that the place was clean, but the fact that they still allow smoking marred any effort to try and enjoy the experience. The cashier was sitting in a booth, smoking and talking on her cell phone when we were leaving and didnt bother to bid us a good night, that was up to us. All in all, we are not likely to want to spend $25 for canned food I can get out of my pantry and at least spice up ourselves, with no one blowing smoke in our air space. Ponderosa should consider changing their business practices, Ryans still has one up on you and nothing beats Golden Corral, so far.

The food tasted like Ponderosa always does. So while it isnt the best food ever, it was okay. They still allow smoking there which was disgusting. The employees were smoking, too. They were NOT busy but our waitress couldnt stop flirting witht he guy behind us long enough to help us much. She brought our drinks out and we never saw her again until dessert was done. She brought us refills altho we had no food left to eat and wanted to leave. We had ordered steak tips (which were good) and wanted to take them home with us. We asked for a box and never got it. She just went on helping other people . Good thing I live no where near this place. Even if I did, I would NEVER go back. We were planning on tipping $5 because that was all the cash we had, but Cassie helped us save $5 by being the worst waitress weve had in history...

Ponderosa is that place that makes money by selling you food you can make at Home yourself but offering it in a buffet setting. So just imagine a giant buffet of like 25 different hungry man dinners and a ice cream machine with sprinkles and chocolate.... Oh and little squares of frozen pies. ( sometimes there still frozen a little when u get them) You can order a dinner dish like a steak or steak tips with or without the buffet.... Waitress has only one job really bring and refill your drinks...... I mean what can I say bad about this place?

I really want to give them a 4, because I like the people that work there. They recognize us and sometimes stop and chat for a bit. For a buffet, the selection is very limited. Usually 3 or 4 main dishes. We go mainly for the garlic bread (delicious), but often have to ask them to make it, because the serving area has an empty basket. The food is usually hot (a big issue with a lot of buffets) They are the only buffet Ive ever been to that has snickerdoodles. We like it enough to eat there at least twice a month.

First time at this location. Great experience. The manager Tom was at register and took my order. Had a good conversation with him about Ponderosa. I grew up on Ponderosa. If you have never had their chopped steak cooked no more than medium.... Go there now. It has a flavor all its own. Now I like 25+ dollar real quality new york strips the best... but I often crave a Ponderosa chopped steak. Server was great. Staff was on top of the bar continually restocking items. Great Ponderosa!

A lot of the food is dried out since it doesnt seem to be changed until it is empty. Its usually dead, seems to be more popular amongst older people. Not a big fan of the food and its about the same price as golden corral and the food is more fresh there. It used to be an awesome place to go back in the day, however this ponderosa and the tri county one would both get one star due to their quality and appearance of food. The wait staff is great at this location though.

A redesigned modern buffet steakhouse. They have revamped the interior and buffet line to a much needed, more in style, cabin feel at this location. We visited at 18:30(6:30pm) on a Sunday. All the food was hot, fresh looking, and well taken care of. No burnt, cold or tired looking food in sight. All pots of food were clean and well presented. Friendly staff and clean store. We would definitely go back. A+

We went as a nostalgic venture since these have long departed from our state in our childhood. The layout, contents of its buffet, and probably the actual furniture was exactly as it was in the 90s. The food was... Acceptable, mostly. Staff was pleasant. Im certainly not shocked why so many of these have gone outta business, however.

The service was great, friendly people and great smiles. Now, the food..... the only thing I would taste in the macaroni was the pot it was cooked in. The sugar cookies were so hard they hurt my teeth. The meatloaf was not good. Although, they did have chocolate soft serve, so that makes everything a little less miserable.

Almost all of the food was cold. Steak was meh. The buffet was a game of trying everything to find the decent food, if you are eating here I would recommend the mash potatoes. Just the mash potatoes. Maybe its because Im not from Kentucky but I was disappointed.

They accommodated our large last minute party beautifully! The manager, Bonnie, was so kind and helpful, and so was our waitress. Ive never been served by someone that desires to serve us so completely. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Staff was polite and kind but the food for lunch buffet is absolutely terrible... Only two choices of meat is chicken wings and meat loaf and its not that good... Best part was dessert and the cake was stale... Wont be coming back

Stopped here on the way home to Ohio in hopes to rehash my childhood family dinners at Ponderosa. Either my parents had awful taste or quality has diminished over the years. I left disappointed. Staff was friendly.

The service was great, the buffet was mostly good, great salad bar. Its a bit expensive for a quick stop off the interstate. My steak, buffet and drink was over $17. Overall good place to eat

Very clean and fresh food! We were here around 830 PM on a Wednesday night and the food was very fresh with someone constantly cleaning the food stations. Staff was very friendly
