Its the first Indian restaurant we tried in this area and very much liked it. The food is good, ambiance is nice and service is quite quick. Food: We went with Paneer Pakoda as an appetizer followed by the Vegetarian Thali which included an appetizer (again!!!) of two pakodas, a papad and a batata vada, followed by the main thali/plate of two naans, two subzi/curry (Aloo Chole and Paneer Matar), white rice with peas, daal, raita and gulaab jaamun. Overall, the food was delicious - almost every item. The only problem we found was with sabzi. While Aloo Chole was short on salt, Paneer Matar had this weird sweet taste - completely uncharacteristic. However, the star was the appetizer that was delicious. Rice - very well cooked. Raita was quite creamy and the salt was lifting up the flavor. Gulaab Jamun was a perfect closure as it was delicious - quite coarse from inside but the sweet taste was absolutely brilliant. Ambiance: Well lit and plenty of room with high ceiling giving quite a bit of air to breathe. Neat and clean restaurant. Service: Service was quite good. The gentleman attending us did not vanish into thin air after getting us seating, unlike what we have normally observed in other Indian restaurants in the US. However, he needs to get an idea of Indian spice level when he speaks out the scale. He said that HOT will be quite hot even by Indian standards, so we went for moderate HOT to be on the safe side. However, that level of spice in the curries and daal was minimal and we could have easily gone for a scale or two above. Overall: A must visit restaurant if you want to get some quality Indian food.

The food was okay. Nothing special, although my Chicken Tikka Masala was really bland, even though I ordered a 4 (highest spice level is 6). Most disappointing was the service. The server was pushy about us ordering before our entire party had arrived. We repeatedly told her that we wanted to wait until most of us had arrived, but she acted like we were doing her a huge injustice-- ridiculous, considering the restaurant had ONE other customer at the time. When our nan arrived, she just dumped it on the table and didnt bother to tell us which was which. Man, it might be obvious to you, but most nan looks pretty similar from the top. I had to call her over to ask her to tell us which was which, which she did, reluctantly. I asked for more rice at one point, which took 15 minutes to come out. Several of us asked for more water multiple times before getting anything. I try to be a good tipper and a good customer over all, but if another member of our party hadnt insisted on tipping 20%, she would have gotten maybe 10% from me. I realize that one server is not a representative of the restaurant as a whole, but it was my moms birthday, and I was pretty ticked off at the server by the end of it. If you dont like your job, fine, I get it. But we didnt do this to you. You chose to be rude and negligent. TL;DR: There are plenty of good Indian restaurants around Cincinnati. Dont go to Gurus just because it might be slightly closer than another one. The experience isnt worth it.

Was surprised that we found a pretty good Indian restaurant in a strip mall when just randomly looking for a place for lunch! They had good reviews and had the option of a lunch buffet which was nice. The food that I had off the buffet was good, but not great. They offered around 8 dishes (3 vegetarian), naan, rice, a skimpy salad bar, as well as 3 soups. The lentil soup and tiki masala were pretty good! Id assume that if ordered fresh it would have been much better. Someone I was with got a mushroom & eggplant dish that she said was pretty good, but not superior to other Indian restaurants she had been to. Service was great. Multiple, prompt refills on drinks and a quick check - always appreciated. I was impressed by the interior of the restaurant. Looking from the outside, it looks just like a genericish restaurant. Inside, they had good decor and a nice looking bar - unusual for an Indian restaurant. Not only that, but they also have a store located in the corner of the restaurant that offers exotic groceries that you certainly wouldnt find in the average store. Rice, canned goods, spices, and curry mixes aplenty for those daring enough to attempt a homemade Indian meal. I enjoyed my experience at the restaurant, and would recommend it

Guru is apparently run by the same family or company that operates Akash downtown and Ambar in Clifton. The menus are identical. The food is extremely good but can be inconsistent in spice level. The nan, soups, and condiments are excellent. I cant pick a specialization to recommend because it is all good. Im partial to lamb dishes, any biryani, and any saag but have sampled most of the menu and found no weaknesses. The dine-in experience is mediocre. Service is eager but basic. Food arrives extremely fast. The full bar is completely stocked but selection is very limited. Dont try to order a cocktail. A kids menu is available with chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, French fries, etc. Guru really shines as a take-out experience. Call in meals, even when orders are very large, are ready in ten minutes. Order accuracy is very good. Pricing is consistent with other Indian restaurants in the area, $10-$17 for dinner portion entrées. Its easy to spend $70 and wonder how it got so expensive, so depending on your tolerance might not seem like a good value.

We were on a road trip and chose this place for dinner since this was the closest Indian restaurant we could find near the freeway (I 75) Ambience and seating arrangement were good. We ordered Aloo paratha , chicken and veg Biryani. Taste of the food can be best described as average. Paratha was okay and Biryanis lacked spice and tasted like pulav with dry fruits and nuts. But chicken(in biryani) was cooked perfectly and tasted great. These people need to learn a lot about customer service. We felt like we were not welcome there. Waiters who served us were uncourteous and treated us as if we were having free food. It doesnt hurt to put a smile on your face, people !!

Had the lunch buffet. Its not the best but it could do in a pinch. The meat selection was limited to chicken. The saag didnt even have paneer in it. I wouldnt complain if the buffet wasnt $11+ with a drink. The food was a little cooler than I would have liked and the naan bread was just okay. In my opinion everything was under salted, but that may be a good thing for you. I feel bad for those who have said this is the best Indian in Cincinnati. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the area and this isnt close to my top one, Ambar in Clifton. They do not do a buffet though.

Guru India is awesome; the food is superb. My wife took me there for our first date ever... I was really nervous because I never had Indian food before and didnt want to make a crappy impression. Well, still ended up making a not-so-great-impression but for a different reason... I did more eating then talking. This is my absolute favorite Indian restaurant. The best dish in my opinion is Chicken Tikka Masala, followed closely by the Chicken Tikka Saag
