Went in this evening. One other patron in the restaurant. The hostess was polite and sat me in a nice spot (reason for 1 star). The waitress brought chips and red salsa and I ordered a dos xx in the bottle dressed. She brought is back with a lime. I asked again if I could get it dressed. She asked "whats that?" so I explained. She was gone for a bit and when she returned the bottle was bubbling over and no salt on the rim so I put two and two together to figure out she put it in the bottle. So I poured some of it out in the salsa and explained to her again. She was sorry but I told her it was not her fault; that her bartender should have known. I asked if the chips were homemade and she didnt know. I ordered a side of guacamole with some shredded lettuce. She brought it in a bowl that you couldnt even try to mix it together. I got up and asked for a plate and she looked at me like I was stupid. I repeated myself and she looked at the hostess and rolled her eyes. I asked the check..paid my bill for the beer and the guacamole that I did not eat and left. However, I did taste the guacamole and that is the reason for the other star...it was better than some but not the best...with a little lemon and salsa and season it would be great. I hate I didnt get to try the food but I figure if you dont take enough effort into your waitstaff you probably didnt take it with you cooks so I just cant bring myself to eat there!

Your average Tex-Mex restaurant - we cater this in every month for one lunch and I am always pretty satisfied with how it turns out. Service is quick and portions are very good. They also have a very good lunch special menu and lots of options for a decent price. The salsa is good, not too spicy. I usually get several cheese enchiladas covered in queso because I have no self control and I hate myself, but I could probably eat those cheese enchiladas until I went into cholesterol induced cardiac arrest. I really have no complaints about this restaurant which is unusual, the salsa chicken is good - if a little salty, but that might be expected with any Tex Mex. All in all a pretty good place.

We went there for our anniversary, we order the sizzling fajitas, chicken for my wife and shrimp for me. We asked for no onions, no pico de gallo, no beans and no sour cream. Everything arrived as we order it and delicious. The chicken was very tasty and the rice excellent. The flour tortillas were very soft and tasted like they were just made. My shrimp was delicious and plenty. After the meal I complemented the food and told him about our anniversary , they send us a "sombrero" dessert witch was out of this world. It made our night. Thank you Carlos and everyone for a great anniversary. We will see you again.

I love going to Monterreys, It has a warm safe feeling, very laid back, no stress. I have not ate a meal that I didnt like. I found out they cook up their meats fresh everyday, and do not freeze leftover meat. The staff is also prompt and very attentive. I soooo love the chicken and steak fajitas. The service is Great, very fast, Ive never had to wait more then 10mins! This is the cleanest Grill in Wichita,KS. and I eat out alot. The chips are very tastey and I do not swell up , because there not to salty like another place I know of! check it out you will Love eating there too!

I ate here last night and the service was ridiculuos. The original server took our drink order than disappeared, finally after 15 min the owners son came over and brought us our chips and salsa and took our drink order. We ordered and asked if they had real fried tacos, the owners son said, yes, yes, we asked for flower tortillas fried tacos (real Mexican tacos) and they brought us dry, stamped corn tacos from taco bell. My recommendation, stay away.. There was no follow up service, my salsa and drinks ran empty many times, that is unacceptable.

Its a shame the service was soooo slow, because the food is actually prettty good. I had a business lunch to do on the west side, so picked this place because I love the east side Monterrey, where the service is always spectacular, and the pork tacos are probably my favorite meal in Wichita. The food out west wasnt as good, and the waiter apparently had better things to do than wait on his section, which was almost empty. I wont make the geographic mistake again. GO EAST!!!

4 and a half stars, really. Great service! The waitress was prompt and attentive. The food was better than standard American Mexican, but not what Id give 5 stars to. My husbands steak fajita was plentiful and tasty, with fresh sides. I had the Chili Verde (chili made with pork and poblano peppers); it was very tender but had less flavor than Id like. The beer was ice cold and tasty. The check was $30 for two entrees and two Dos Equis.

Very disappointing dinner visit. 8:30 on a Wednesday. We were enjoying a nice quiet dinner for two until the manager decided to seat the next two families RIGHT next to us, on both sides. The whole restaurant is empty but they had us all crunched together. Kid coughed on me, couldnt hear each other talk etc. We even complained and they sat more people by us. Margaritas were really LAME this time as well. We wont be back

This is 1 of my favorite Mexican places. Im a fan of the El Americano and their fajitas. The staff is always great. I frequently buy large bags of their chips and quart size containers of their salsa for the break room at work. It is always a crowd pleaser. Their style of Mexican food leans slightly towards the authentic from the Tex Mex. Highly recommend this place to all.

They have decent food, but service was not good. A friend of mine rented the party room and they did not tell her ahead of time that the party guests had to order a certain dollar amount of food. When the people didnt order enough they expected her to pay the difference. This wouldnt have been a problem if they would have told her before hand.

Not bad, but it could be better, the owner need to buy better Meat, quality is everything in a restaurant. The carne asada had a lot of fat.... The portion of rice is to little. Im glad is only spicy if you ask for, the best plate. I have travel a lot and visit many Mexican restaurant and this one is good, cheap but is missing quality

When I pulled in the parking lot and it was near empty that should have been a sign. Service was slow. We had 7 people dining tonight. Food was awful. Ordered shrimp Diablo. No flavor. Salsa tasted more like can pasta sauce. The rice was cold and old. Everyone in my group agreed. We would have had better food at McDonalds.

Wait staff was friendly. Food was promptly served. However, it had no flavor, the crunchy tacos werent...both if them were soggy. By the time I had finished the first one the second was mush. My moms Monterrey awful, she only ate two bites. No one asked her if anything was wrong with her meal, just took her plate.
