WORST customer service Ive ever experienced. They brought us the wrong food, and when we called to ask them to fix it, they told me I had to go to the restaurant to get a new order, that they would not come back to fix it. When I told them I just wanted my money back if they wouldnt take care of it, they said that I could stop in and get my money back. I told them I would stop in in a few hours when I was on that side of town. When I stopped to get my money, they said I needed to bring in the food. At that point, my boyfriend was gone from his house so I couldnt go back to get the food out of the trash and take it to them until the next day. The cashier told me tomorrow wasnt acceptable. The cashier told me to wait for the owner for 30 minutes. I said Id be back. 30 minutes later I returned and the owner wasnt there. When he did arrive (20 minutes later), he went to the kitchen and would not speak with me. When most customers left, he finally came out. In total, I waited for him for an hour and 45 minutes. When I told him what had happened, he started screaming at me. I told him there was no way I could bring the food back until the next day, and he said that was fine but that he had to see the food. I said I had to dig it out of the trash, and he said okay. To top it all off, the food from this establishment is mediocre at best, and while I waited for my food I saw them take many foods out of the fridge that were uncovered and contaminated. I have worked at restaurants before, and I know their sanitation practices at Best China are not following Iowa codes.

If youre thinking about ordering here, I recommend to get carry out. The roast pork mei fun, fried dumplings, and crab rangoons are the best from here. What I dont recommend is eating in and the egg rolls are terrible. My husband gets the Americanized Chinese food- the mongolian beef and general tsos chicken- and he feels its the best hes had around. As for the previous comments about how dirty the place is- if youve ever been to an authentic Chinese restaurant with linoleum floors, like in any Chinatown across the US, the lack of cleanliness of this place shouldnt surprise you. I say as long you dont get sick, then its safe/clean enough. I wouldve given more stars if I didnt just get my food, did the calculations, and realize they slightly overcharged me. Also, they are very brief on the phone- they dont tell you how long or how much you owe. Needless to say, this is the only place Ive consistently ordered Chinese food from in the past 3 years, outside of the local grocery store (HyVee). That roast pork mei fun is just THAT good!

I ordered delivery and it came very quickly (~15-20 min?). I ordered fried shrimp, kung pao chicken, and beef broccoli. The kung pao chicken was good and the beef broccoli was pretty good with juicy beef and fresh broccoli (I think they should up the amount of oyster sauce in their sauce a bit though). The fried shrimp, while generous in quantity, was undercooked and greasy. I think they need to make their friers hotter or fry in smaller quantities. Overall it is pretty good for Iowa City and the price is quite low for the quantity. I will definitely order from there again (although a bit less food next time as this was a huge quantity) as it has to be a bit healthier than ordering pizza and it is definitely faster!

I love ordering from this place when I need a night off from cooking because they deliver, theyre fast, they give you tons of food and its affordable. I usually get the Orange Chicken and Crab Rangoons. My boyfriend typically gets the Shrimp Lo Mein or the Sweet & Sour Shrimp. Since I get all eight crab rangoons to myself I usually get full off of those and then have the Orange Chicken for lunch and dinner the next day. Its a lot of food. They also have coupons on their delivery menu for free soda, egg roll or crab rangoons if you spend so much money. On average, we end up spending $20-25 (with delivery fee & tip) for the both of us and have food for another one or two meals.

Used to be not so bad. I dont know what has changed but I tried the online ordering they offer and added specific turn by turn instructions to get to my house since its tricky to find. It took them over an hour before I called and they said it was just now leaving the door. When the delivery boy showed up he came the wrong way down a one way. Completely disregarded the delivery instructions and when I told him it was the wrong way he told me "euh. It doesnt matter". Last time I will be ordering from this place....Taste of China I may have to.pick up. But 15 minutes and my food is ready. And customer service isnt so careless.

I used to love this place. Great food, fast delivery & amazing prices. Today though, not only did it take an hour and a half to deliver (Im 4 miles away) but it was cold and NOT the correct order. When I called the gentleman back he thought it was funny and argued with me that I had order what they sent me. I ordered Shrimp Lo-Mien and they delivered cold Shrimp & Vegetables. Not sure how that was confusing but him finding it funny was quite irritating. I personally will not order again and Im sure my colleagues will not either.

I will never eat here again!!!!!!! They served me raw, bloody, chicken wings once about 2 months ago. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, so I went again and they gave me raw, bloody, chicken wings again. I am a picky eater and I never bite chicken, I like to tear it and when I tore the meat apart, it bubbled with blood. I was so disgusted. I didnt fight or argue about the $8.00 meal. Im just never going back and I think everyone should know. If I could leave no stars I would.

The yang chow fried rice here is really delicious, and they do a good black bean sauce. Their roast pork is quite nice and weve been consistently surprised by how tasty their shrimp are. Some of their more Americanized dishes can be kinda sweet, which Im sure many people like. However, if you ask them to adjust the seasoning they can really crank out a tasty dish with authentic flavor. Really cheap for the quantity and quality of food you get, too.

I order lunch from Best China quite a lot and I am almost always impressed! For lunch you get an entrée, rice, and 2 crab rangoons for around $5! I wasnt crazy about their breaded chicken entrees but every vegetable based entrée Ive had was great (chicken with broccoli, beef with mixed vegetables) and the crab rangoons are awesome! Overall, really good food for a cheap price.

Such a good place to grab some quick lunch if you live on the East Side. Their lunch specials for under $5 seriously cant be beat! I usually call ahead for take out and its so quick- always ready within 10 min! The lady who is always there, whom I assume is the owner, is always nice and deserves a tip every time- it always puts a smile on her face
