Went there today and I had the Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs. It was okay, but rather pricey for the quality. The Chicken fried steak tasted like one of those frozen patties that are fried up, gravy was thick and not much flavor to it. Eggs were cooked perfectly, the hash browns were bland. Mine cost $9.49, definitely not worth the price. The person with me had the Iowa Omelet, she also thought it was okay. It was a bit more reasonably priced at $7.99. I went there based on the great reviews. I was definitely disappointed. If you look at the menu online, it is old. Mine was $2.00 more then the menu online, and hers was only $.60 more. So be prepared. I dont think I will ever go back.

We have been going to Breakfast House every few weeks for the last several years. We love it. A nice variety of foods (not all breakfast). The Florentine eggs Benedict is amazing and the burgers are thick and juicy. The few times we have had a complaint, Ive been impressed with the response. I found egg shells in my omelet once and was given my meal for free. I cannot rate this a full five stars, however. While the wait staff is usually very good and some of the best in town, every so often we get poor service. The last time the waitress (one who has been working there a long time) came over and placed a bag of stale bread in our booth next to my wife, then walked away.

What a great "Hole in the wall" place to grab breakfast. The best thing about this place by far is the food, ti is AMAZING. There is an older man who normally cooks when we are there, and the guy is a pro. I normally order the country fried steak and eggs, which is a huge meal for breakfast! Two complaints though, the place is small and seating feels a little cramped, especially when they are busy (which is often), and two: they keep it very cold in the building, I am often uncomfortably cold... but the food is worth it!

Truly the best breakfast Ive had at a restaurant. No nationwide restaurant or even local cafe can compete, their omelettes are perfect, the food is not cheap but reasonably priced for a very satisfying LARGE meal. The waitstaff is very polite and prompt, the dining area and bathroom are immaculately clean, which says a lot to me. I love it, get hungry whenever I drive by. Damn good food, period.

My daughter and I go in every Sunday for breakfast and we LOVE it! The ladies and Scott are always amazing and super attentive! And Jim always smiles the moment you walk in. Its nice to walk into a small place that has such a welcoming feeling! Its always super busy but always worth it. Food is great and coffee cups never empty! My kind of place. <3

It was one of the best experiences my husband and Ive had. Clean, friendly environment. The waiter was very attentive, the cook was awesome, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced for the big portions. It felt like a small town diner and well definitely be coming back...a lot. I recommend the sausage and biscuits with hashbrowns.

My husband had the blueberry pancakes and he said they were very good. I had the strawberry Belgium waffle. It was good but a little skimpy. I have never had a waffle that had holes in it where there should have been just indents. The whole waffle was like that. It looked like they ran out of batter. And this was at 8:00 A.M.

My boyfriend and I come here EVERY WEEKEND for the last 2+ years. We LOVE it! I have always gotten the sunrise cakes: blueberry pancakes, with real blueberries inside and on top with lowfat garnola....coffee is great and the service is amazing! Once you go you will be hooked! Go early or be prepared to wait.

Breakfast House Cafe has very acceptable prices and good food, however service has gone downhill since our last visit. Took too long to get my coffee- had to wait about 20 minutes for it...also found a hair in our French toast. Overall, this is a good, cheap breakfast place. 3 stars

Go To for Breakfast Homestyle food at a busy Neighborhood cafe - dont be surprised if the waitress sits down and talks to you like a real person- havent gotten much farther than the best basic bacon eggs and hash browns around! Top notch for a decade - They treat kids like kings!

Despite the near hour wait for our food, the Breakfast House was a lovely place to stop for brunch. The gravy didnt taste like it came from a box, the coffee was frequently refilled, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended for a breakfast treat!

This place is self-seating, but that is not indicated by a sign or mentioned by staff when you walk in. My friends French toast was drowning in butter when it was delivered. The waitress delivered the wrong kind of eggs with my order. Overall I was not impressed.

This was our first visit to Breakfast House and were so glad we happened upon this restaurant gem. The food is excellent and friendly service! Everyone with me ordered something different and absolutely loved their selection. Well definitely be back!

Food was still delicious as always. Wish the cost didnt go up on their Breakfast House Cafe bites. Server was great and manager was very accommodating when some extra family and friends showed up so we had to move and put some tables together.

Great small town feel. There can be a wait during popular times any day of the week. Delicious comfort food. But minus 1-star for overcooking poached eggs for eggs Benedict (twice). Definitely a mom and pop joint, amateur chefs.

A quaint place near the river. The portions where huge for the money. I decided to go after great ratings on yelp. If I am in Cedar Rapids again this is the place to go! I highly recommend it!

My family has gone here for years. The food items have been changing recently and the service isnt as great as it used to be. Still a good breakfast, but not as awesome as it was years ago.

Great tasting food, amazingly friendly service, and a perfectly blended menu of breakfast and lunch (light and hearty options available) is why this restaurant deserves all 5 stars.

This is an excellent place for a traditional American breakfast of the pancakes, eggs, and sausage variety. Our server was friendly and attentive and my pancakes were excellent!

Wonderful breakfast and very fast service, in the early morning hours that is. Lunch time is usually a much longer wait time for food, refills or your bill.

Good neighborhood diner. The corned beef hash with hashbrowns and eggs was very tasty. Very friendly service and I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup.

We went on Sunday for the all day breakfast stuff. They were pretty busy, which is a good sign in my book. Food was really good and came pretty quickly.

Clean, nice decor, friendly staff, and tasty food prepared the way you ask. The cafe looks new inside and has plenty of natural light. Two thumbs up!
