Its a nice Hu-Hot. The vegetables are very fresh, which is really all I care about. I dont like their deserts, but I dont like any Hu Hots deserts. Honestly, I feel like they do a good job. Its a basically abandoned mall, with very little in it. The Hu Hot is one of the strips anchor stores I think. Theyre simple, clean, and have a strange atmosphere like theyre not trying to advertise or sell themselves? Im going to go with "Humble and unassuming" for that one. My wife, on the other hand, disagrees with me because she saw a manager following one of the restockers around obsessively, and he apparently asked the customers several times if they thought various things were fresh enough. She thinks maybe he was hitting on her? Or that he was just OCD? Its funny how different my wife and my experiences usually are wherever we go.

Ways good choices. You make your own meal (if you dont already k or the premise). From the noodles to the meat, even the veggies and sauces. Mix and match, and if you dont like what you got the first time, you can go up and try something different. The bar is usually pretty well stocked, though during busy times it tends to be a little messy. Cooks are great and friendly. Its always a great place to go with family or a group. Be aware that meals are a little on the pricy side as it is an all you can eat.

Can be very busy at times but lines move at a reasonable pace. Staff has been very polite every time I have visited. My daughter, 9, had several questions about how they cook and the temperature of the grill. Our server went into the back and got the answers for her. Plenty of options and varieties for the whole family. My only complaint is that some of the tables are quite close to each other making for some close quarters eating.

Great buffet style food thats cooked in front of you with top notch service. I went with a friend and we automatically felt super welcomed. The host was very energetic and sweet, I believe his name was Grant. And our server introduced himself right away, I believe his name was Chris. He always made sure we were good and he was just good company. Best HuHot that Ive ever been to.

Low-quality ingredients and reheated appetizers for a high-quality price. The Mongolian grilled food isnt cooked nearly long enough either. Ambiance feels superficial and forced. There are many local Chinese/Asian restaurants in Ames that offer much better food for a better price, such as Scallion, Taste Place, and Indian Palace. Avoid Huhot if you dont want to be dissapointed.

Honestly the only people who wouldnt like this place are the the people who either cant afford it, or are too stubborn to admit its their new favorite! Dinner/lunch and a show, everything gets cooked the way you want it, they take requests and work with your allergies, pretty much anything you could ask for!

Ive always enjoyed hu hot at des moines location. My first encounter in Ames not so much. My first round of food not cooked fully. Meat and potatoes cold in center I mentioned something to manager. The second round was the same. Im sick with stomach cramps and diarrhea. Something needs to change.

I was skeptical but the server named Shelby was one of best servers Id had in a while, refills for drinks before we ran out of pop, 5 stars on buffet style amazing food chefs were friendly and fast great dinning experience and really cheap for a buffet!! 26.00 for two people

The did a good job making sure my food was not contaminated as I have celiacs and it has to be gluten free. The only suggestion I would make is other HuHots give me a different color bowl to help the servers and Cooks identify my dietary needs.

Hu-Hot is expensive, but I still really like it. Yeah its just friend meat and vegtables in sauce, but its tasty and I like sitting down there. Huge drink soft drink selection, and if you want it to be it can be pretty healthy.

One of my favorite places to eat, I visited this specific HuHot in Ames and loved the service. HuHot always takes requests and works with your allergies. Its one of better tasting chain grills I know!
