The food was decent, but I feel very over priced for the quality and quantity. The bathroom could have used some TLC. Paper towels were on the floor due to the over flowing garbage can, and the stall locks didnt match up well so I have to lift the door with a good amount of force to get the lock to match up Due to the server being new it made the dining experience slow and frustrating. He brought wrong items, was confused about what a side caesar salad was, set hot items/ drinks directly in front of a small child multiple times despite us asking him to not due so, was slow to bring the check, forgot to bring a side dish, and then never took the item off the bill. We didnt dispute the $2-3 extra side charge because at that point we were just needing to leave due to having a child in our party. OVERALL: Not impressed. I will likely not go back and will go somewhere else. The decor was dated and felt run down, the servers (including ours) appeared sloppily dressed and unprofessional, the manager that checked on the table appeared to have thrown her self together with wet hair pulled back in a banna clip ( we were confused at first why she was coming to our table until she asked the typical manager question), the food presentation was very poor, but tasteed decent. Certainly not worth the price though. Youre better off going somewhere else.

I was very disappointed. Ive beengoing to kingfish for many years and have had almost every food item, lobster tail two or three times a year, fish, shrimp boats, etc. My friend always went on her birthday for her free fish sandwich. A tradition she did with her father which had the same birthday. Her father has been gone a few years now. She ask me where I would like to go for my birthday and I said Kingfish for my free sandwich which I never did before. Well not only did they charge for half the sandwich was thin and tasteless. I could have had anything on the menu but wanted to do something different. Though there are many better restaurants for fish I wanted to stay true and support our local restaurant because kingfish has been going down for years. Their consistency has changed and not for the best. This experience final changed my support. I will tell my friends dont ever expect their free sandwich and still support the other food items that are just not worth it. I can buy my own sandwich at much better places. I was looking for the traditions I have supported through the years and that is gone. Good luck with your new traditions for the local environment:(

The only reason I would even give this place 1 star is because the hush puppies and fried green tomatoes appetizer were pretty good but thats about where it ends. Our server was inattentive right after we sat down a table of 15 sat right behind us and she focused on them the rest of the time. The food we ordered took about 45-1 hour before our actually entrees came we asked about 3 times how much longer and they kept saying "sorry the kitchen is backed up", thankfully our appetizer came out quickly. Once we finally had our food it was horrible. Tasteless and overlooked much better at long John silvers. I dont understand how they cant season their breading for the fish the breading on the hushpuppies was good just use that. But this is a different breading that has no taste. My wife ordered the cod cajun style (grilled) and it was no flavor and really chewy like it had been freezer burnt. I ordered the Alaskan shrod,Thankfully we had a Groupon but even with that we paid too much. We will not be back.

Do visit occasionally to take advantage of the river views. While its great to sit outside when the weather is nice, sitting inside in the winter is a good treatment for cabin fever. GOOD: The location is definitely the best reason to visit this local seafood chain. Great views of the river and city skyline from both indoor and outdoor seating. CAUTIONS: Main dishes are decent while some sides may arrive from the can. Service is hit and miss, though Ive personally experienced more hits than misses. Lately, Ive had multiple experiences with great service. MUSHROOMS: Their fried mushrooms are some of the best Ive ever had and are excluded from my food comments above. Batter dipped and seasoned well. At most places, a fried mushroom looks like a breaded ball and there is sometimes more breading than actual mushroom. Not here... the crust is thin and you can actually tell its a fried mushroom before eating it. They are great. I find myself wanting to visit again just for the mushrooms.

Here from AZ on business and the place was nearby to where I was staying. It looked like a popular place to go from all the cars in the parking lot. I ordered some kind of sampler that had a lot of fried seafood. It was served with a basket of hush puppies to start off. These were good, similar to the older Long John Silvers recipe with the cornmeal, instead of corn flour like it is now. They werent greasy either. The seafood platter was alright, but I couldnt justify the price of around $20 bucks. I felt like I got a better meal and deal at Papadeaux and we have one in Phoenix. The service was fast, but I sat at the bar. The bartender was great and very attentive. Gave me extra napkins, refilled my water, and even offered me more hush puppies when I was done with my meal. He pretty much saved the experience.

Sub par seafood - the service was just what anyone would expect. Id like to add that my wife used our bank card - where the waitress didnt use the check out stand right next to our table - but walked away with it out of site (19 DEC 2014) and on 05 JAN 2015 - got two fraudulent charges. This was the only place we used this particular card. Never going back to this place again!!! My wife had a funny feeling, but I was out in the lobby with my little boy by the fish tank while waiting to finalize the payment of our meal. Thanks King Fish for hiring credit card scammers and not doing a criminal background check for your employees!!! $321.80 out for 14 days until it is cleared up by the bank...and we went there as a gift to my wifes parents! Happy Holidays!

I went with my wife and kids. The prices are way high, about the same as Red Lobster, just without the quality of food. The food was ok though, except the mac and cheese, which looked and tasted like it 2 or 3 days old and heated in a microwave. Had to send it back for the green beans which were great. The inside of the building looks great with a great view! Only thing is we are 30 and were the youngest people there and we went at 5:30pm which you would think there would be a waiting time, but no, there was only 6 other families there, kind of felt like I was eating at a old folks home being the youngest family there. lol. Service and who seemed to be owner or manager was very nice and great!

Im a fan of the area, as I frequent the place next door, Buckheads, but was saddened by the caliber of King Fish. The Location, like Buckheads, is nice… overlooking the Ohio-River/Louisville Downtown Area. Unfortunately, the view is the best part of the restaurant. We had a beer at the bar waiting for our table, and the beer they served us was flat. They knew the keg was out, but served it anyway. The restaurant atmosphere seemed old/outdated, and very tacky. The service was slow. The food was awful. The appetizers were unimpressive. They overcooked our fish, which was dry and flakey, and over cooked the scallops, which were small and tasted like rubber. Do not go to this place.
