Surprisingly disappointed after all I had heard about the place. We wanted to make reservations for a birthday party but were told they dont take reservations.Upon arrival I see a sign saying that they have an actual space that you can reserve for parties. Then, the hostess just wouldnt believe there would actually be a group of twenty two of us. Subsequent to that, I was rudely rebuked by whom I assume was either the manager the owner, that birthday balloons were not allowed in the building. I understand people can have rules, but by the smell of his breath, I guess he had tossed a few back already, which it may explain the rude diatribe. I wanted to order the fish tacos but had to listen to the waiter tell me how terrible they were. I assume maybe he just did not like fish, as they were mahi-mahi, which usually makes the best fish tacos. He was, however, correct... they were terrible and I didnt understand why if he can tell me how bad they are, why hasnt the chef been informed? So I ordered something else which the waiter got wrong; in fact that saw him get 5 orders of wrong out of our party. He then felt it necessary to inform us how mad the chef would be at all his mistakes. I dont need to hear all that. I understand big parties are difficult and things can go wrong, but it just seemed like an endless night of macabre disappointments.

I read about St. Joseph Brewery a few months ago and was instantly interested. How can one not want to see a church turned into a bar? Last night I finally got a chance to stop by and it was amazing. When I walked in the hostess gave me a genuine smile and welcomed me. The bar in a church idea works great and the remodeling was nicely done. If they only had a pipe organ playing Alice Cooper it would be perfect. Beer isn’t my preference so I can’t rate it but the people around me were happy. The staff was quick to jump in and offer suggestions. I was excited by the quality scotch and the knowledgeable bartenders. They have a respectable looking wine list and I hope to try some on another visit. In addition to wine by the glass they have a list of bottles for $30 which is reasonable considering the quality offered. I had a meat loaf sandwich which I was told, “would change my life.” The scotch did that first but the meat loaf sandwich was excellent. Their menu is the opposite of the typically boring bar food that one too often finds.

Myself and three others enjoyed a round of beer and lunch in this lovely restored church turned brewery. There is a lovely yeast smell in the air and shiny stainless steel fermentation tanks lining the back wall. For lunch, I had a Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken. The portion was fantastic and the veggies were perfectly fresh and well prepped. I had a Belgian Wheat beer, served in a traditional tulip glass. It was nicely aromatic and slightly spicy on the tongue. Other members of the party had great food but felt the portions were somewhat meager. This was especially true of the veggie wrap. Service was great and responsive. The space can be slightly noisey but that is to be expected with such a large space. It seemed to be a "hopping" lunch spot. I hope to go back for dinner to experience the place with some nice mood lighting. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited with the family during the first game of the Colts preseason. St. Joes was completely filled, largely with Colts fans taking advantage of the massive screens around the brewery, so we took a seat for the 45 minute wait. Again, I suspect Sunday evening was hardly ideal timing, so 45 minutes is probably the maximum wait time you can expect. Those 21+ can order from the bar during their wait. Food was excellent; you would never guess you were in a pub from their menu. Where St. Joes really excels is in its choice of venue: The old church has barely changed, only the addition of the brewery changing the classic arched ceiling and ornamentation. The mashup of old and new is breathtaking and a must-see for visitors.

What an interesting place. Microbreweries are always fun places to visit and most have unique settings and loads of charm. This place is no exception. Built inside of an old church it has loads of charm. The beer they brew is quite nice and they have more than enough styles on tap to keep anyone happy. The food, made in house, is exceptional as well. The only negative thing I could say is it is a small place and was overly crowded. The wait time for a table was awful so we went to the bar area where "standing room only" would have been luxurious. As it was we left after a few drinks and a quick bite. All in all its a wonderfully fun place to check out, just try to visit during a slow time.

Converted church. Very cool atmosphere. Very open, so pretty noisy even when not crowded. Full bar and their own beer. The food is very good, and they serve brunch. Kids are welcome as well. Which is nice for a brewery. There is outdoor seating, so you can get some sun. Parking can be difficult but not impossible. They tried to keep as much of the church there as possible, from the doors and spiral staircase to a few pews. A great addition to the local brewery and restaurant scene. Their beer is pretty good with some personal favorites being the benevolent blond and sanctuary saison.

The beer and the food was mediocre. What was worst was the HORRID service! The hostess rolled her eyes when I asked for a table for 13 despite the fact that there were only a handful of tables full ( and it was 3:00 on a Saturday) and it only got worse from there. After placing our drink orders our waitress told us she couldnt take our food order because she had to get to her other tables. I wont go on, but it continued to decline from there, so disappointing! Im giving it 2 stars only because the signature cocktails were pretty good. Wont go back & wouldnt recommend.

Be prepared to park yourself. They used to have open parking on the alley way next to them, but now they block it off with cones for unknown reasons. They want you to pay the valet parking fee too which is a little much considering all the streets around it have free unrestricted parking. Valet parking is not in the coned off parking area too which is confusing. Why go far to park my car when youve already restricted parking with cones? Menu is a little expensive too. Food and drinks, however are great!

The beers that I tried were mediocre at best. But the real negative to my experience was that they were not busy at all, maybe a few people at the bar and one other table, but the service was far from great. Our server seemed to be too busy chatting it up with the other workers. The inside of the brewery is actually pretty neat. I would call it "unorthodox". But it does have more of the feel of a restaurant than a brewery. It was not a very intimate setting the way the tables and floor plan are laid out.
