We had read the great reviews and had decided to try out this Greek place. First of all it was 90 degrees inside the restaurant and the air conditioning was apparently working(or not working). Everyone was hot as hell and when asked about the fan above us, we were very enthusiastically told that it has not been working for last 23 years. The staff was very friendly, welcoming, and nice but service was painfully slow. It took forever for food to come. I would rate the food as average. Then it took forever for the cheques to come (atleast 45 min more). On top of everything, the belly dancer was trying to be over friendly and was trying to give us her business cards and kept talking to us for 30 minutes watching us eat. Overall, not a good experience and we probably wont go back there again. Some suggestions for the owner- the restaurant needs major renovation with better interiors and plzz a good airconditioning system and working fans and lights.

Meh! Im not a huge fan of Greek food other than Gyros, but I do like a few things on their menu here. Since Im not a huge fan, I dont think its fair for me to review their food...But...The restaurant itself is a different story. The place is small, and in desperate need of an update/renovation! The staff seem friendly and they even have belly dancers to entertain you while youre eating! Also kind of surprised with the pricing of their menu items. Seems to be a bit over priced for that part Indy and for Greek food in general. This is by no means an upscale eating establishment. Overall, Its not bad, but its not my favorite place to have Greek food.

We sat down to dinner at a restaurant nearby Shapiros because it was closed. The service was OK except that my wife received the coffee she ordered late (we had to ask for it twice). The food was OK except for me it was overpriced: They charged us $35 for three pieces of lamb. This was supposed to be the marked price. What a market!!! My wife noticed that the beans were not fresh but came from a can probably purchased at GFS. The belly dancer had a large tattoo across her back which did not sit well with us. We will not be back. Overall not good value for the money spent. We can do better In many other places in the Indianapolis area.

Once you walk through the door you become family. This place is family owned and has been since it opened in the 1980s. The restaurant is small, but it is worth every single penny. The food is freshly made each and everyday in their own kitchen. Nothing is frozen, or ordered in from some food service. The staff is beyond friendly and make you feel as if you have known them and been apart of their family for years. On the weekends they have a belly dancer, which is always fun. They host a wine dinner once a month which, though I have never been, is always a good time. If you are in the Indy area and love Greek, then this is the place for you.

OPA!!! This fun greek restaurant serves great greek dishes, one of my favorites being the fried cheese that is lit on fire (the name escapes me at the moment). I believe it was on a Friday they even had belly dancers that came around to entertain guests. The owner is usually around the area and she makes sure that you are satisfied with your meal. Ive returned here several times and have enjoyed every dish Ive eaten. Ill continue to return as well when I get my greek cravings! Its a casual restaurant on the inside but can make for a fun date night location or family location. Pricing is good for the quantity of food received.

Family place and they treat me as one. Portions are plenty and the quality is at the top. I come here when I visit Indy on business, about 3 times a year and have enjoyed every meal. Owner on premises always checks in on me even if shes not waiting on me. Try the calamari app, any entree or the combo platters for a little of everything. The larger combo can easily be split by two diners. Early or mid-week is easy o get a table. Ill return and would bring customers or friends & my family.

Dont be fooled by the outer looks. We went to this restaurant today (Aug. 31,2009). As beginning we had some TIROPITA which was really fantastic. Then we had Gyros. We are used to the way Greek Restaurants in Germany prepare Gyros, so it took some getting used to it, once we were over it (only took a few bites) it was really good. To my tasting the tzaziki could have had a little more garlic. But that is realy just minor. All in all we had a very good dinner.

Took my husband and two daughters here for dinner last night. We had a great time! The belly dancer had my 5 year old in the middle of the restaurant dancing with her- it was so much fun! Family owned and you are very aware and feel like home. Food was very good. The waiter suggested KEO a greek beer- it was very good! We will return to this restaurant for another fun evening and great atmosphere! Hope you enjoy it too!

In the past Ive had a positive experience with the food at Greek Island but today I am very disappointed. I called in an ordered the gyro melt to go but wasnt all that satisfied with the quality. By the time I made it back to my office, 2 minutes away, the bread was hard & rubbery, and the gyro meat was also hard, dark, and dry. This was nothing like the last time I ordered this exact thing

Called in to make a reservation. Was hung up on first. Second time, the man put me on hold and "forgot" about me. Jimmy and the other guy were rude and acted as if i was a huge inconvenience. Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. The food is fantastic but doesnt compensate for the absolutely worthless service. Will never visit or recommend this place again.

The food is good. A tiny bit pricey- but you get what you pay for- homemade authentic greek food. The atmopshere and service is great. Its very small- but makes it a more enjoyable experience. Family owned- and they are SO nice. The belly dancers is a fun touch. Not a great beer selection- but the greek beer is pretty good. We love going there.

If you are driving through Indianapolis and looking for a place to eat off I70 (easy on/off) instead of the typical interstate fair, this is your place - you wont be let down on the quality. My wife had the mkt price lamb chops ($$), but I had a traditional souvlaki pork and it was great. Excellent, friendly staff.

The best Greek food in town. The family that runs this restaurant should be proud. The menu isnt adventerous per se, its more like youre coming over to their house for dinner. The gyro meat is great, the chicken souvlaki is juicy and flavorful and the hummus is simple yet wonderful. A gem just outside of downtown.

Great authentic greek food, best Ive had in Indy if not anywhere. A good friend of mine is Greek and vouched for the place as well. The staff are great and inviting. If they are busy they promptly and politely assist you in placing a quicker, more efficient order haha. You cant go wrong with this one.
