Former employee, the head chef gambles on pro ball via state networks, sleeps in the office collecting overtime while screwing other employees out of time, the prime rib buffets are often plain ribeye roll, food is often ran 3 to 4 times, health inspections are never random, always known of at least 3 days ahead of time, I once seen another cook cook a chicken sandwich on a grill after pouring degreaser on it without rinsing the grill or finishing cleaning just scraping back the layer of chemical used to clean it. There are plenty more nastys that I could elaborate further upon, that is just off of the top of my head :) Not slander, as it is true, could be verified and backed up by other former employees if anyone wants to take it on in a defamation suite, would only lead to more exposing of all the little narstys going on in this ran state facility.

We love this place. We take our dog and our kids and stay in the lodge. We have a very large and well behaved dog and we are THRILLED to find a fun place that she is welcome, not restricted by dumb dog weight limits. The rooms are clean and comfy, maybe not the most updated but again, clean and comfy. Functional, clean, comfy. With a short walk, you can reach the beach, fishing, mini golf, a small airport where you can watch planes take off all day, and the POOL! Handicap accessible, clean, never busy. Also, there is a restaurant in the lower area of the lodge with buffet style dining. It is clean, has a large variety and good hours. We scouted out the new cabins too and they look very nice as well. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!

Rough River like all Kentucky State Parks are nice places for hiking, fishing , boating and other outdoor activities. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was really nice and for the price it was absolutely outstanding. There was plenty of room for five of us. This park is unique in that it also has its own little airport for private planes. The food is pretty much average and nothing special so having the cottage was great because we could cook our own meals. There are almost no other eating alternatives in the area unless you want to drive.

Cozy lodge at the Park. They have rooms, cottages, conference/event rooms, and a restaurant. The rooms feel outdated, but they are in good condition. The staff and management are very accommodating and truly go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable. The buffet at the restaurant has mainly traditional southern food (mashed potatoes, catfish, green beans, roast beef, etc.) and it is very good. I particularly love their mashed potatoes. I am not sure if they have a menu as well as the buffet overall is a pleasant place to stay.

The lobby was clean and the people were very nice. The rooms were nice and clean. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There were plenty of things to do. The pool area was nice with a kids wading pool. There were activities going on too. Fishing by the dock was good. We caught a few bass. The good was also good. My wife forgot a special necklace in our room. She called and housekeeping had brought the necklace to the front desk. We are making arrangements to get it.

A very scenic place. The conference center is a good size and nice. Tvs staff was very courteous. Loved all the food. The disc golf course was quite changing, but that could have been because it was a windy day (watch out for hole #3!) There are some trails, but not as many as I thought there would be. If youre coming to the beach, bring beach shoes/water shoes because its quite rocky.

We were stuck in traffic for hours after the solar eclipse on Aug 21 and needed a room for the night. The staff at the lodge helped us out, gave us a comfortable cottage at a good rate, and made sure we had everything we needed when we arrived very late at night. I cant say much about the park, unfortunately, because our stay was so short, but we were impressed by the service!

When we arrived for the buffet Memorial Day, we were greeted by live music. The park had many visitors this day! It was alive! The food and service was great. We ate and walked down by the lake. This was just a ride to eat for us, so we left after reading. The experience was good and we would have no problem doing this again!

We only gave the staff about 4 hrs notice today. 2 Harley Davidson Hog chapters met for lunch with 63 people. The restaurant sat us all together, dedicated 4 server to us and the food was great. I would highly recommend this place to everyone. Our chapters will definitely return.

Nice off the beaten path destination. 2 bedroom cabins were a bargain. If you plan on cooking bring everything you might need. Very clean and in good condition but a bit Spartan. Pet friendly accommodations. Helpful staff. Beautiful scenery. Easy drive to mammoth cave.

Park itself is beautiful. Lots of nice photo opportunities. The lodge restaurant is OK. Not bad, but not great. At least the view is nice. If you buy a Kentucky parks gift card, dont plan on using it at the restaurant. They do not accept them.

I stayed here last year in one of the cabins, loved it. The trails leading to the water are nice as well. If you want to be on nice clear water for an affordable price and dont want to travel a long distance this is the place for you.

The resort was definitely dated but comfortable. My room still smelled of cigarettes, even though it is a no smoking facility. We visited in the off season so most things were closed, so not necessarily a review of the area

We went for a Saturday lunch after attending the changing of the summer/winter tide pool at the dam. The ceremony was really fun and informative. The food was great. Rough River always pleases.

Loved the visit here. We flew in to their airport and ate the lodge. Very good food. The mashed potatoes and gravy were yummy. KY. cooking at its best. Such a peaceful place to visit.

I visited the resort for a professional training course. The food provided at the restaurant and the view outside the training room were both amazing.
