Do not go here if you are a single mom wanting to enjoy Mothers Day. I called 5 days in advance to make reservations, I was told we could sit in the bar but I explained I was not comfortable with my youngest son sitting in the bar. The male taking the call said he had a booth for 4 at 2pm, PERFECT! He then insisted I give my credit card # to complete the reservation so I did. HUGE MISTAKE! When we arrived, the hostess said there wasnt a reservation for us when I told her that I made one and was told 2 pm AND gave my CC #, no apologies, she handed me her paper and said "see if you can find it"! She said she could put us in the bar... we were seated and I was concerned about the fact that 1 of their employees had my CC# so I went to speak with a manager... the first 1 (a heavy set female) said "talk to him, hes the GM" (2nd person NOT to apologize...) "HE" looked at me then headed into what I assume is the kitchen area (so he didnt even speak), I asked the female again if he was going to speak with me and she said "yeah, I guess"... finally an older man appeared, he didnt introduce himself or give his position at the restaurant, simply greeted me with "whats the problem"... I told him that I was upset that they had INSISTED on my CC# to complete my reservation but there wasnt a reservation AND 1 of the emps. had my CC# (yep, I was dumb for giving it!)... his response? "yeah, ok, so... I dont know what to tell ya.. we dont got it". 3rd person I spoke to, 3rd person to not apologize and the 3rd (I assume) Mgr., to absolutely be useless. I am in the restaurant business and I am well aware of how crazy Mothers Day can be, I also understand that people sometimes make mistakes but to not even apologize and try to make it right is ridiculous. If Management cares that little about their guests at the front door then I certainly do not want to give them my money. We went to ROSEBUD where the GM himself found us a table (even though they were packed), we enjoyed a fantastic Brunch with GREAT service in a warm atmosphere. It did cost more, ($250.00 for 4 of us) but money was never the issue. I expect to be appreciated when I choose to go out with my family. Stonewood Alehouse made me feel like they were doing me a favor.

Bugs and hair in the salad and hair in a childs entre.Stonewood Ale House Schaumburg, IL Sunday May 18 2014 5:15 pm We (a group of about 27 African Americans ages 3- 87) enter the Stonewood Ale House on Mall Dr. in Schaumburg, IL. We were told the party size in a much less than full house the party could not be seated promptly there would be a wait until some people left. After 30 minutes we are seated, the Waite staff is good they begin to deliver salads while the encore is being prepared. BUT there is a problem with one of the larger salads it is crawling with some type of bugs and one of the younger children is sick and vomits because there was some hair in their entrée. We speak to the manager explain the person whose dish contained the crawling animals should not have been requested to pay for the inedible dish because it was not sanitary and inedible. The Manager in turn responds in an irate manner and blatantly states: ”ok the meal and drinks (water and soda) are all complementary and exclaims us to “ ”now get out!!” We are outside of the establishment deciding where to go next when this same manger comes outside the restaurant door and says “I told you to go! So get out!!” We were outside the building at this point. How egregious!! How absolutely rude and business etiquette totally out the window, I felt as if we had slipped back in time to the 1800’s!! OMG this is absolutely awful!

This is my second time here. First time a couple years ago. Now I remember why I never was eager to return. Came here with work folks, 9 people in our party. Our waitress was very nice, got all of the orders correct. The kitchen.. well.. thats another story. Our table had two orders of the baked french onion soup. First attempt, the soup was luke warm and bland. Second attempt was warmer, but it was like there were spots that were hotter than others. Again, not flavorful at all. I only ate about 1/4 of it. Had the ribeye steak, it was just ok. The loaded mashed potatoes were good, but how you gonna serve steak and not offer baked potato?? Ill only come back if someone really really wants to go here.. or just come for drinks maybe.

I was in Chicago for work staying next door at the hotel. I have ate here twice and I love it! They have a large selection of beers and mixed drinks. The beer is ice cold to which is a pet peeve for me! I had the bacon cheese burger and it was excellent! Good size and full of flavor. The time before I had the chicken wings, there were good but nothing special just not a lot of flavor. They have a large wrap around bar and several TVs all around the place. I would defiantly recommend this place! Good food and a reasonable price especially for the area!!

That rootbeer beer.... AWESOME! Went here with the wife and a couple of friends and we had a great time with drinks and appetizers. Food was delicious. A standout was definitely the cornflake crusted chicken tender thing. Just loved the flavor. Beer selection on draft was amazing as well. Service was great and overall we were very pleased. Only con I can think of was the place can be packed and parking hard to come by. I guess thats why they have complementary valet, but sometimes I just dont like using the service.

I would like to thank the GM of the Stonewood Ale House, Bradley, for his personal concern, kindness and professionalism. I have always known Stonewood Ale House for having wonderful servers who are attentive and kind, and delicious food and great atmosphere, but it is nice to know when a concern is brought to their attention, it is taken seriously and customers are treated with respect and kindness. Kudos to Stonewood Ale and Bradley, thank you so much, you raise the bar very high for competitors!

Enjoyed dinner here last night. The skirt steak is one of their most popular dishes, which comes with veggies, Yukon mashed potatoes and onion strings. Its plenty of food and the skirt steak was great. The server we had, Taylor was very helpful and checked on us frequently. Service is always pretty good if there was anything to gripe about I would say that it can get kind of noisy, but really not a big deal. I have been here several times for work dinners and Ill definitely be back.

Good service and a not insubstantial beer selection are some definite positives, but slightly underwhelmed by the beer can chicken. It seems these are prepared well in advance with little care taken to prevent the white meat cuts from drying out heavily. My fellow diners expressed mixed feelings, some very positive. Stonewood is worth dropping by, but nothing particularly special.
