Efficient service in a clean and formulaic Chinese-American space. Extensive menu with no indication of creativity in the kitchen. We tried egg rolls (crispy but oil soaked and mealy), pot stickers (thick skinned and not exposed enough to the pot, stuffed with something resembling breakfast sausage that just fell out when cut), Cantonese style chicken chow me in (nice and garlicky with good range of texture but still with that unsettling steamed chicken breast so many of these restaurants choose and a sort of gelatinous sauce), Singapore noodles (spicy with good variety of meats and lots of scallion and the thin noodles were delightfully springy). This is my third try since HKCS moved from a tiny carryout spot up the street and something about the formula has changed. They still do tons of carry out business but I dont think 20 minutes in a styrofoam clamshell box is going to make their food stand out. This was my last visit.

I used to like this place, but after the customer service I received today I will NEVER return. The order I got was wrong and I called to ask for a credit. They sent me some mudh in a box that way not even what I had orders. I couldnt eat it. The rude manager continued to argue with me on the phone like I was some Moron who didnt know what I had ordered or what it was supposed to look like. Horrible way to talk to a customer. NEVER AGAIN

Ordered for delivery, was delivered in record time. Reason for fast delivery we believe is either day old food reheated or food taken from a warming pan and put in containers. Egg rolls and fried rice and chicken chow mein tasted stale. And egg foo young tasted burned and old. Very disappointed, we have always had great food from there in the past . It will be a long time if ever we.order from Hong Kong Chop Suey Mundelein.

I just order a shirmp fried rice and i can believe how empty it looks . almost no shirmp, they used to put alot of green onions ,egg and beans sprouts and now i can count then with my finger,the rice is so dry it almost looks like they didnt fried enough ..i dont know if they change cooks, or something is goin on PLEASE FIX IT OR I WILL STOP ORDERING FROM THERE

Ordered for delivery - took 2 hours. Called 3 times, talked to manager and then owner and they blamed the weather - all excuses - no apologies - no offer to discount the order even after 2 hours of waiting! Awful management / ownership. They should go back to take out only - 3rd time I had delivery issues - others were missing part of the order.

Food: 2 Decor: 1 Service: 3 Being near the top of the Yelp ratings, my friend and I decided to drop by here for dinner. Note: they do to-go only. I got the happy family, 9. It was better than I anticipated, but it still wasnt very good compared to Asian food in CA. Free egg roll for purchases more than $10 after 3pm.

I have yet to have a simple meal like Sweet and Sour Chicken be edible. Instead of chunks of chicken deep fried and crispy, I received meatball sized balls of dough with something like chicken on the inside.If this had happened once, that would be one thing, but it happened twice. And it won’t again.

This is the best place around. I come from Zion, IL just to enjoy my Chinese food. No matter what you like to eat, you will not be disappointed. I usually call about 2 hours ahead to beat the dinner rush. Its always hot and ready forme when I get there. I never go anywhere else.

We have been going to Chinese restaurants for 60 years and Hong Kong Chop Suey is the best Chinese cuisine in a 50 mile radius bar none! The food compares with any of the top restaurants in Chinatown (Chicago). The portions are huge, plus the prices are very very reasonable.

Friendly service ,clean atmosphere, tasty foods. Good prices. Nice portions. I took my 2 girls and the fussy eater almost cleaned out the plate. The server complimented us several times on our well behaved girls by saying nice family. Made us feel welcome.

I am not a fair judge of "Chinese" food (my standards are unrealistic) but we did enjoy the usual kung Pao, egg rolls etc. The service was ok, the price was ok, the food was ok. When I want Chinese food, I usually find an excuse to go to Chinatown.

The food is actually quite good, standard Chinese fair with a few extra dishes to try. The portions are huge, you basically get a second meal to take home. The servers are friendly. 4 stars on food, 5 stars on value.

Good food. Lots of options. Egg rolls are top notch in lake county by the way. I think they used to be larger... but they were wayyyy too big before. Carry out is well priced. Dine in is good too. Getchasome!

This probably the only Good Chinese restaurants in Lake county. The food taste great we order the Mongolian beef and house fried rice. Never had a anything bad from this place.

We used to live in Mundelein and Hong Kong Chop Suey was always our choice for Chinese food. We moved 45 minutes away and it is still our choice for Chinese food.
