I have been coming to El Cortez for years and I will always love this place. The services is usually really good. I have gone a couple time when the service could have been better but 9 time out of 10 the service was great. The food comes out so fast, you order and then like 10 minutes later you are eating. Plus, I think the food is great. I have never had a bad experience with the food. It is authentic and delicious. Also, everything is super cheap. Two people can easily eat there for under $30. I would recommend El Cortez to anyone who is looking for great Mexican food for a cheap price. If you appreciate true Mexican food (not Americanized) you will like El Cortez!

I have been to the El Cortez on 183rd, Orland Park and now Mokena. The last time I had a great meal at any of these restaurants was about 12 years ago. We decided to give the newer Mokena location a chance. The atmosphere reminded us both of a college cafeteria. It was loud, very bright and had no character at all. The frozen margarita was to sweet, steak fajitas fair to good. The chips were cold, and thats the way they are served, the guacamole had onions and was somewhat bland. There were kids everywhere. All in all not a good dining experience. Although we continue to look, we still like Burrito Jalisco in Orland Park. I would not go back.

We went to the El Cortez on Wold road a friend said its the best mexican food around. Well the food sucked, the service was lousy and the place smelled like a musty attic. Fast forward 5 years a new El Cortez opens up close to our house, so I figure we give them the benefit of the doubt new place hopefully better food. Well I was wrong the food was lousy the suizo sauce was nothing more then tomato soup there was no flavor at all. We had to ask for chips and salsa, utensils and when I asked for hot sauce I was given a bowl of the SAME sauce I had on the burrito.I can understand if the place was packed, but it wasnt.

I am not sure where the bad reviews are coming from, and they made me hesitant to try what is a new added location to an old family favorite restaurant. The food was fabulous. Very traditional, not too greasy. The guacamole was delicious, and the chips perfectly lightly-salted. The staff was friendly and fast, and we had a group of 8. It was my suggestion to go there for lunch with co-workers, and no one was disappointed. Try it out. The ambiance is not too cozy, but that is the ONLY reason I did not give this place 5 stars.

Outstanding Service & Servers!!! The Bar Service and the Waiters & Waitresses are on point every time we visit!!! Major Shout out to Bella, Kris & Fran. I along with my friends that frequent El Cortez each month; we have had nothing short than a Spectacular Time each time. El Cortez treats their customers how restaurants are supposed to treat their customers; Fantastic & Like VIPs!!! The Beer on Tap is the Coldest and the Margaritas are the finest in the County!! The worst Mexican food I ever had. I will never ever recommend this location to anyone. I ordered the tacos and when it arrived to me it was cold as if they microwaved it. I sent it back and then it was steamed according to the waitress. It was a horrible experience. Never will I go back again.

My boyfriend an I used to go here at least once a week. We went during the World Series and were gouged. They charged a "market price" of $12 for guacamole and refused to give us their special price for house margaritas be we didnt say cubbie margaritas. We will never return. Food is only OK.

El cortez resturant I where I spend my Friday evenings. Their is no better choice! The food is exceptional and the service is both fast and Efficient. Oh and I mention the Blue Margaritas!!!!! Get a picther or 2 They are a must on any day of the week.

Salsa was fantastic as well as the chips. Service was solid, but atmosphere was lacking. Reminded me of a cheap Mexican restaurant. Food was pretty good and overall i would go back if in the area. Food came out really quick as well.

Was decent food, the fiance said the tacos were good but my burrito was so so. I ordered a cantarito but was brought a margarita with a Corona in it. Ended up being a decent drink but not what I ordered.
