I needed to accomplish three tasks in downtown Joliet rather swiftly yesterday: doing research plus reviewing/responding to emails at the Joliet Public Library (the Ottawa Street Main Library); conducting a business transaction at the First Midwest Bank on North Chicago Street; and sending hard copies of documents from the same First Midwest Bank to the BMO Harris Bank at the Joliet/Ultra Foods (1590 N. Larkin Avenue) Branch by stopping at the United States Postal Service Office located at 51 East Clinton Street. Activity to complete all these necessary jobs seemed to have escalated into something like that of "a whirlwind." Naturally, I became hungry. Considerably hungry... Having heard all positive feedback about Chicken-N-Spice across the street from the State of Illinois Department of Employment Security in Joliet, Illinois in the United States of America, I decided, "Finally, I am going to give this reputable dining venu the visit that I had been yearning to make." Wow. I am so thrilled that I was able to enjoy a lunch of the greatest fried chicken that I have consumed to date. Indeed, I explained to the Team at Chicken-N-Spice that being over the age of fifty, this compliment resonates genuineness. Although I did not have the courage to assert then and there that it is even better than my Grandma DelMargos, whose batter I used to believe was never to be bettered(!), in transparent honesty I find it necessary to acknowledge that the fare at Chicken-N-Spice--a delectable meal that really needs to be savored by whomever may be reading this review to give its deliciousness the justice it deserves--actually outdoes the recipe created by my awesome Gram, a fact that I thought I would never ever say about any other cook/chef, albeit a family member, friend, culinary arts instructor, or restaurant employee. Blessings in abundance in response to my prayer for Chicken-N-Spice to procure continually steady business are requested from my spirit, concurrently meant to be expressed to the owner(s) and to all who are associated with Chicken-N-Spice. Clearly, I intend to return often. ~ Bob Talkie, M.A., Psy.D. Disability Rights Advocate/Agent United States of America

Good food, and great for catering a party everyone will ask where the chicken came from it never fails. The chicken chunks rock and like any place you might get bad service every once and a while but as far as people wiping their mouths and noses and then handling the food well I never saw it happen any time I went there. Now on to the other nut job that posted on here I think the only reason they posted is because they are some eco-nut-job, they keep referring to the Styrofoam containers and when you say tangy chicken did you not read the big sign out front Chicken-N-Spice I guess the word spice must have been missed after you noticed the Styrofoam containers. Give the place a try my friends ordered it for a party and we have been using them for all of ours ever since in fact this Superbowl Sunday we will be using them again

Im not a resident of the area, but I visit Plainfield often and went there with my SO. This is definitely the best fast food fried chicken restaurant Ive ever been to. The chunks are well seasoned with a little bit of a kick, moist, and not overly coated. The coleslaw, potatoes, and biscuits were also great! I didnt finish my food but had it for leftovers the next day. I warmed the chicken and potato wedges up in the oven at it was just as good as the first time around. :) I cant wait to go back!

It was recently on Chicagos Best so we checked it out. We ordered onion rings, 2 pc chicken and cod dinner with 6 pc chicken nuggetts. Onion Rings had very little batter, and skinny onions. Fish was also low batter & not crispy, greasy. Nuggets were good size, well done but if you want spicy you pay extra for the containers other than the 1 you get. Chicken dinner-unremarkable. Service was happy with a smile. Value would be great with great dishes

Service coulda been better, but to be fair I got there after the lunch hour and all the staff looked like they were about to fall asleep. The chicken chunks are awesome. Dont bother looking at their menu online, it doesnt reflect how expansive their offering is when you walk in the door. Lots of special posted that I never saw on their website.

This is a vary nice Chicken fast food restaurant. With a large selection of good chicken and other food items to order off there menu. They even serve breakfast 7 days a week. I love their fried chicken dinners & on trays. Go downtown Joliet & visit Chicken & Spice order some of their fried chicken dinners. You will not be disappointed.

This is no joke. If you like fried chicken at all, this place is the best. No bones, all white meat, and every piece is perfectly cooked. Their dipping sauces are also awesome. You cannot beleive how good it is, and the leftovers reheated are almost better. Order a box of 100 for you and a few friends and do not look back!

The biggest chicken breasts youll ever see! This place is great. The chicken is just outstanding. Dont waste your time on a chain...make the trip downtown. Most people are afraid of this place because of the location but grab some before a ball game. This is most definately worth going way out of your way to get!

This place is unbelievable! I like to treat myself to some Chicken-N-Spice about once every month or so. Their chicken chunks and potato wedges are hands down the best Ive ever had. Ive lived in the area for quite some time and Ive never hear anything but praise about Chicken-N-Spice.

These chicken chunks can not be put down, they will disappear. I visited my daughter down state and didnt eat all my chunks, they were no longer mine. Never show up with chunks unless you have more than enough to share, true story.

Normally I have no complaints, but my recent visit had my chicken chunks swimming in grease at the bottom of my food container. Im hoping this was just a product of them being freshly prepared and not strained long enough.

I will make trips just for this place. Chicken chunks with hot dipping sauce are to die for. Mac and cheese bites and jojos are good too. Ones of these days Im going to have to try the chicken and waffles for breakfast.

I love the chicken chunks! I used to love Popeyes but they dont have nothing on Chicken N Spice. The gizzards are amazingly tender and delicious! The onion rings are huge and the staff friendly. This is my go to place!

We might have caught them on a bad day, but everything was terrible! Customers complaining out loud regarding the size of the meat on an Italian Beef...2 slices at the most! Popeyes Chicken blows these people away!

Tried a steak but sure have had better in the past. Atmosphere is nice with all kind of movie attributes around. Service is friendly. Not cheap for quality served, so maybe better to check around for alternatives.
