My girlfriend decided to go and get us a bite to eat for lunch this afternoon. I was already skeptical at the way the California Roll looked the first time she brought it back. I ordered a few different maki rolls...one being deep fried, one spicy tuna, vegetable, blah blah blah. Im a chef, and quality is the most important thing one can offer at their restaurant. This was far far far from being even close to quality. Tatami Japanese Restaurant in Glenview is 100 times better. If anyone loves great sushi, please go to Tatami. It is the ONLY place in the Northshore - the ultimate of fresh. .... I dont know who packed up our sushi to go, but they smashed all the rolls together, putting the deep fried roll in the same container as all the others, so as you can imagine, when I opened up the container, the deep fried roll was soggy and tasted horrid, and the other rolls were starting to get warm from the residual heat from the fried roll. Absolutely disgusting. I felt horrible for my girlfriend- I didnt eat any of it. What a waste of money, and a waste of food. DO NOT GO THERE. GO TO Tatami.

When people say, "I love sushi," what they really mean is, "I love fresh, top-quality sushi." Even if the atmosphere is quaint, the sushi chefs bow to you upon your entrance, and the food served promptly and artistically presented, youre not going to enjoy your meal unless the sushi is made from quality ingredients. I thought Happi Sushi offers excellent food. Obviously the person below is a chef from Tatami (been there and it is ok) and doesnt know what he is talking about. Go to Happi Sushi and you will be delighted!

I have been going to The Happi Sushi for years. It is where I made the mistake of introducing my kids to Sushi. Now thats all they want to eat. Seriously, THe staff always greets us by name and asked about a missing member of the family. It is nice to enter a place year after year and the same people are there to greet you. The food is always fresh and prepared exactly the way it should be.

I love Happi Sushi and have been going there since 1990 (before they relocated to their Roger Williams space.) The gyoki soba is the best I have ever had. In fact, all the food is excellent. The fish is fresh, the sushi is expertly produced. I have never been disappointed in anything I ordered. And I adore the staff--they treat regular customers like family!
