We have spent THOUSANDS here...no joke, I have the bank statements to prove it. My wife and I, during the Taste of Glen Ellyn 2015 celebration, took our children to dinner here. My wife returned to retrieve the iPhone she left on the table (her fault) less than 10 minutes after leaving. When she returned, they looked around the restaurant and called her phone on her behalf with no results. They looked around the restaurant, asked employees, and put in what seemed to be a reasonable effort to find her phone...but there was no result. My wife came back to where me and my family were enjoying the carnival, only to say she had lost her phone. I went to my iPhone and activated the "Find My iPhone" app, only to find that her iPhone less than 20 minutes from seeing it last...it was in one of the employees cars behind the restaurant. Obviously we called the Glen Ellyn Police, who did a PHENOMENAL job of assisting us in getting my wifes phone back (and presenting themselves to my 7 and 4 year old children as the "heros" that found Mommys phone...great job GEPD!!). So, in summary, within 15 minutes of us leaving the restaurant, my wifes phone made it to one of the employees cars. We had the police take care of the perpetrator, then took a moment to discuss the situation with the establishment. I thought I would get some assured resolution, but there was little effort on behalf of the restaurant to reassure us that any disciplinary action had been taken. They asked me for my cell phone # (STILL have not heard from them), but as someone who has been there since my teenage years (36 years old now), I am absolutely floored that they wouldnt take a moment to reassure a super-loyal customer that they valued my business and would take steps in the future to safeguard their restaurant in the future. I manage car dealerships for a living, so I understand the importance of positive (and NEGATIVE) feedback, so I hold no reservation in saying after 20 years or so of allegiance, that has all come to an end. It breaks my heart, because I truly enjoy Santa Fe. If my wife and I ever get the chance to sneak out while we have child care, Santa Fe is our first stop...until now. The only advice I can give is to leave ALL of your valuables in your car, or just leave them at home altogether. Id hate to think Glen Ellyn is starting to lose the battle against todays criminal minds...but my own personal experiences say otherwise. Its a bittersweet ending to a mixed experience with one of our favorite restaurants.

Waiter accidentally omitted there would be an extra charge for a substitution on a meal, but when pointing it out to him after receiving the bill, he apologized and seemed willing to deduct the extra fee, BUT THEN CAME ALONG SERVER RAYNA (who had nothing to do with our table!) AND FOUGHT TOOTH AND NAIL FOR THE $2 CLAIMING THE CUSTOMER HAS TO ASSUME a price difference. Mistakes are sometimes made and usually, for good customer service, the proper correction is made, but RAYNA KEPT REPEATING THE WORD ASSUME. "customer has to ASSUME. " We paid the extra $2, but naturally we wont be going there again and according to the friends that recommended the place, they wont be either. So sad.

We came with a group of 10 and they didnt split our checks, when we got the bill and asked to split it our server refused. Asked to talk to a manager 6 times and she never came and the server told us she was coming but I believe she never even told her we wanted to speak to her. Then we got very angry and refused to speak to her anymore until she got a manager and then she finally came- But It took 15 minutes of fighting with our waitress just to speak to a manager! Then we ended up sitting there with a piece of paper and writing everything we ate ourselves and did their job for them. Never coming back. Do not eat here. Salsa tastes like tomato soup and food was mediocre at best.

The food is decent -but nothing special that cant be had at any mexican restaurant, and probably not as good as many (Las Palmas beats this place hands down). It probably survives because its the only mexican restaurant in downtown Glen Ellyn. The server we had was awful! She was extremely rude and pushy. Clearly she wanted to turn the table as quickly as possible. At one point she actually demanded we place our order before she would get us our 2nd drink! Atmosphere is very lacking as well. Nothing charming about the place - small table for two - very basic setting. I would not eat here again - average food, rude service, and VERY noisy with little to no atmosphere.

I will not return. Have been to Santa Fe four times in the past couple months and had the same horrible server twice. My date explained she is somehow related to the owner and is just a naturally sour woman. We asked for water three times and the third time this waitress has the audacity to argue and say we never asked for water. She goes out of her way to be angry. No-- we will no longer subject ourselves to this toxic woman, I am finished blowing my money here.

pricey food, small portions. When i asked the server was this small amount of dip actually priced at $6.95 she gave me a dirty look and snapped back saying "Yes, i can show you our small side and thats $4.95" I continued to tell her i know of another place with a bigger portion for $1 or $2 dollars cheaper and she started walking away saying "Ive never heard of that place!" Upset with service, sad prices are so high for small portions. Food was decent

I compare all mexican places to this one. Always delicious. Never disappointed. My staple has been the enchilada diner (cheese) and it has remained the same for twenty years. It is mexican food for suburban non mexicans, so dont go there for authentic fare. If it is busy, the place can get crowded. The food and service make up for the crowd.

Pretty generic food, nothing worth writing home about. I dont think there are any fresh ingredients on the menu so if thats what youre after Id look elsewhere. The service is pretty lackluster and detached. Essentially its a cheap place to dine if you want to take your kids or family and dont want to spend a lot.

This is the best place ever. Is a family own restaurant everyone is friendly , the food is excellent. I recommend everything in the menu, they can make spicy food or less spicy you have to ask. Beautiful people great service. Than you, Thank you !! :) Luengo family

My sister and always go here and take our friends when they come into town. No screaming children and the service is great. If youre used to Ponderosa, dont come here. You wont appreciate it. Try the Margaritas! ...oh, and the food is great, too!

A favorite since I was a teenager, now a favorite of the whole family. Authentic Mexican cuisine at a reasonable price, in an upscale atmosphere. So far no other Mexican restaurant has come close to their quality of food.

Have lived in GE 33 years and have been going to Santa Fe all the while. Specials are fantastic as are the Margaritas. Family style service always treating us with pleasantry and respect. We find Santa Fe to be cozy and warm.
