The only reason this place got any stars is for the service, which was not bad. I sat at the bar and the waiter was very atentive, always checking to see if I needed anything and if everything was ok. this can get annoying at times, but I would much rather someone show that they care vs. never being available. that said, the sushi was not great...at all. I typically only eat sashimi because I love the freshness and flavor of the fish, instead of all of the rolls and sauces. to me, sashimi is as pure as it gets. The fish was of the worst quality I have ever tasted. I cant believe they are passing this off as sushi grade. I guess if you roll it with avo, cucumber, deep fry it, and cover it with sauce, it will taste good. however, if you taste teh fresh fish alone, you will be sorely disappointed. plate arrangement was terrible with no real forethought as to the service. sitting at the bar I was presented with a rice bowl, an enourmous plate for a sashimi platter (which only took up a quarter of the plate) and another enourmous plate for a spider roll. this spread out litteraly took up 3 spaces of seatting...use your brains guys... one of the craziest things that took me aback was the fact that they charge for extra wasabi and ginger. any establishment that charges for condiments is insane. just my 2 cents. overall 2 stars for service and just because I didnt hate it. I paid the bill and left full, but taste and quality were lacking, and thats what really counts at a sushi establishment. If you are in the area and want sushi, head to Momotaro a few miles east on Butterfield. you wont be disappointed.

I cannot rate this a 5 Star because I can only give out 1 -5 Star recommendation to a sushi restaurant and that goes to South Coast in Chicago. However they are VERY close. I always have my favorite server, "Ping" at our table, because I dont ever have to write anything down, she knows exactly what I want...Their sushi is always fresh, the Salmon is always orange and the Tuna, always red...(Youd be surprised at some restaurants, its the opposite...Run! if you ever see this!) Their rolls are never overwhelming, neither are their sauces. Every sushi restaurant I visit, I gauge their quality by ordering my signature Handroll, which is an Unagi-Avocado-w/spicy mayo and unagi sauce concoction. If this is done correctly, then chances are everything else should be up to par...The service, atmosphere, sushi quality, and overall Value, is at the very least 4.5 Stars...And thats coming from a former Executive Sushi chef...

I can only say that those that gave this Sushi establishment 4 or 5 stars have absolutely no clue what good Sushi is, much less great Sushi. I ate at the Sushi Bar to see everything being made. So any Sushi-goer is aware, every employee here is Chinese. There is not even a hint of proper Japanese Sushi style or grace. Food is placed on plates without any thought as to what it looks like. I ordered Sashimi, which should be cut differently from that intended for Nigiri or Maki and from the very best available that day. It most definitively was not. The same slice, without any thought as to appearance was used for Sashimi, Nigiri or Maki. The bowl of requested Sushi Rice was very disappointing almost tasteless. The selection of Fish served, while not "bad" was mediocre at best and not worth the calories nor the $s. I would recommend that any true lover of "real" Sushi STAY AWAY!

Steve, I disagree with you because this place is fantastic! I just went there this weekend with my boyfriend and the setting is very romantic and also family-friendly. Great food! All the rolls are the best Ive tasted in the western suburbs!!! Very Fresh fish (Ive been a sushi-lover for years and this is definitely one of the best sushi restaurants around)!!!! The servers and the manager was extremely nice and was willing to make the sushi according to the way I wanted it to be and I got a teriyaki chicken as well and it was DELICIOUS!!! With a reasonable price, I think this restaurant is a must!!!! (Btw Steve, I dont know where you have been getting your sushi because the pieces are the size its supposed to be and filled me up just like it should.)

My friend said he came here all the time, so I decided to try it. It has a great atmosphere, the the waiters and chefs are so nice, and the food was amazing! I had the salmon, tuna, and yellow tail nigiri with a side order of avocado eel rolls. Also, the food came amazingly quick! All the people who gave this place a bad review because the food wasnt good enough for them are way too picky about their sushi! This is coming from a guy who eats sushi a lot! If you want the best sushi, the only place you will get that is in Japan. Deal with it! Of course it will always be a little pricey in the Chicago land area, but what do you expect in the Midwest? We dont have the luxury of living near the ocean! All in all, a great sushi spot!

I like the food here. Not the best but very good and the staff is nice. Prices are not too bad and we are always full when we leave. If we are going out for sushi this is the place we go. Little dark for an afternoon meal but at evening it seems normal. Update - I went with my son who is 9 months old and the staff was great. It was his first time eating fried rice and he could not shove it in his mouth fast enough. Of course being 9 month more ended up on the floor than anywhere else. Staff was totally cool about the mess and said what a good baby he was. Super nice about it all.

The chicken in the pad thai was rubbery. The shrimp that they replaced it with was mealy and didnt taste or smell like shrimp at all. The quality of the sushi that night was sub par. We ordered (Godzilla Roll and one of their rolls that was promoted as a special). When my wife sent back the chicken pad thai because of its taste and consistency, the chef and another waiter laughed like we were being ridiculous. Completely unprofessional behavior. The one good part about the meal were the crab rangoons, but even they, couldnt save this experience. We will not be returning.

Barely any rice on my rolls and it was just falling off. Incredibly sloppy presentation. My spicy tuna was warm and inedible. I looked up and the container in the cooler with the spicy tuna was right in front of a door that was never closed, so it was hanging into room temperature air the whole time. SLOW service, had to flag a waitress 15 minutes after my meal was done just to get my check. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it was decent the last time I went, but after this I wont be going a third time...

I initially decided to give this place a try because of the reviews that I read here. Overall I think it was a good choice. The food was excellent and well-priced; however, for a relatively small, week-day lunch crowd the service was a little less than desirable. Our waitress seemed hurried when there was only about 6-7 patrons being served; and our food took a little longer than expected 25-30 mins. Definitely better than your average strip-mall sushi spot though.
