To say the fare is somewhat unique wouldnt really do it justice. This tasty little gem was a real surprise, serving a completely unexpected style of Japanese cuisine. The primary offerings are a japanese-style curry dish served with your choice of protein or vegetable, with nicely prepared sushi rice. I found it to be simply delicious, however if sushi is more of what you expect from a Japanese restaurant, they dont disappoint in this respect either. Food is nicely presented, very fresh, and is prepared in a clean open kitchen by a Japanese chef, who I believe is also the owner. The ordering protocol is fairly typical for a quick serve restaurant, where you order at the counter and then the food is brought out to you. Lunch will cost you about $12 (tax and soft drink included) and for the meal you get, its a great value. They do serve alcohol with a great selection of Japanese beers, and not just the typical Sapporo. This place is a tasty little treat in Rolling Meadows and if youre interested in some generally different Japanese fare, will not be disappointed.

Food was better than what I expected. Owner is Japanese and food served is authentic Japanese, unlike other Chinese/Korean restaurant posing as Japanese restaurants which they arent. Food served here is called B-kyu gourmet or Grade-B gourmet, which stands for not an A-Grade Gourmet but the next level, where you have to know how to make Japanese dishes in order to make the food served here. This cant be matched by the fake Japanese restaurants that Chinese/Korean restaurants make.

Food is delicious! Even though Im not Japanese so I cant say about its authenticity. I dont really care though, good food is good food! I recommend their curry, beef bowl and demi glace pork chop. Plus Miso soup and salad bar and free got green tea. All under 10 bucks for lunch. Staff were courteous and provided excellent service. This has become one of my goto places for lunch.

One of the best Izakaya restaurant around the area. price is reasonable so you can order a lot of different kind of Japanese food with your beer. Great place to hang out with friends, but come early, because service is a little slow when the restaurant is packed.

Excellent Japanese izakaya restaurant! My Japanese wife and I really enjoyed our dinner. Many small dishes to satisfy your every Japanese craving! The atmosphere and staff are great too!! If youre in the area, we highly recommend!!

The line was too long at Sushi Station so we decided to try this place. Big disappointment: the service/server was horrible; the sushi was ok but we were charged for food we didnt receive. I do not recommend this place!

Service was great, foods were excellent. I highly recommend "Motsunabe" and "Kaisen Miso Soup". One negative point is it sometimes takes too long for some foods or drinks served. But I love this place.

If you want an "authentic" Japanese restaurant in the NW suburbs of Chicago, Umacamon should be on your list. Food is largely great and the service has been also during every visit.
