Dining experience left a lot to be desired. It was my birthday and I love sushi and this place was said to be the talk of the town. Service was slow! Sushi presentation was beautiful, but left a lot to be desired for $15 and only 6 small pieces. There was 4 different pieces of decorative shells on the plate, but I would have preferred 2 more pieces of sushi. I have been to other Hibachi restaurants and the food portions here left a lot to be desired as well. My friend told the waitress it was my birthday (unknown to me) and I was greeted with a slice of cheesecake with a candle. I was surprised and happy. To my real surprise when the bill came I had a $7 charge for my slice of “surprise birthday” cheesecake. I questioned the waitress and she said well one of your friends said it was your birthday, although I never told them it was my birthday nor did my friend know of a charge (I have never been to an establishment that charges for the birthday surprise amenity, they may require ID, but never have I seen a charge). When leaving I mentioned to the manager that I did not ask for the cheesecake nor was my friend told that it would be a charge. I had already paid the $7 and let here know that for future reference they should make sure they inform people of the charge, the manager apologized, then told me that if I could tell her whose bill it should have been on she could credit me my $7 and charge them (which meant she totally missed the point I was making). I paid the bill for me and my 2 friends; there was no bill for her to transfer the charge to. On top of that I have never been to an establishment where there is a party of 3 and they charge 18% gratuity automatically. I will not be returning and would not recommend Nakoto restaurant to anyone

Sigh, I am so disappointed. Let me begin by saying that the food was absolutely amazing, but that is the only good thing I can say. We planned my mothers 60th birthday surprise party two weeks in advance down to every detail and even the extra tipping schedule for being accommodating to our request of having a chef that would be social and speak to our table, say happy birthday to my mom, and to bring us plates for the cake we brought. When our party arrived for our reservation, they wouldnt seat us. We had some cancellations in our party, but still, they wouldnt seat 13 of us. We finally got it worked out to have us seated in the "private room" they offered, which they merged guests into our room anyway so it wasnt private at all. The chef was great at cooking, but the only interaction with us was when he threw a greasy piece of broccoli on my moms dress, and then did not interact with us at all after that. We made several arrangements for the cake, and when it was time for the cake they cleared our plates and brought us the bill and tried to rush us out. We ended up having to use the plates that they brought for the next table they were trying to set up for, after asking several times for the plates. All and all, the food was good, but I would not bring anyone special here, or expect a special night out of this. Even with careful planning and communication leading up to the dinner, management was unorganized and unaccommodating. So to help things they brought out a quick song, gave my mom a shirt that doesnt fit and charged us $30 extra for the "birthday surprise" even though we just wanted plates for our cake. There are so many accommodating hibachi restaurants nearby, for a special night please go somewhere else.

We were visiting Atlanta and decided to eat here and we were told the wait was 40 - 45 minutes and we were okay with that. A) We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes after finding out that majority of the people who ate here made reservations, prior to coming. But reservations were not required. Once we were finally sat, B) we were seated on the ground floor side which you are instructed to take your shoes off and you have to kneel down to be able to sit at the table, which they didnt tell us about or let us choose from (considering I wore a dress). C) Also, the hibachi grill/ seat station is very over-crowded which seats 9 people when it should sit six for proper* and respectful* arm and leg space while eating. D) They have an up charge for ordering fried rice instead of steamed rice which is an additional $3.75 which is unnecessary because other hibachi restaurants do not charge and considering the price of basic chicken (27$), it should not be a price to fry rice alone LOL. E) After our drink orders, they did not start cooking our food until 30 -35 minutes later. F) The food was pretty good but the yum yum sauce is watered down and the dressing on the salad isnt good. Its sour and tangy. Overall, it was okay. I probably wont come back again or recommend anyone to visit. They should really learn to mix the walk- in and reservation guests in together or just make the restaurant reservation only. We arrived at 7:45 and did not eat until 9:50. Ridiculous.

If you want real good sushi go to ru sans in buckhead. Biggest complaint is your limited on your food selection based on where you sit in the restaurant. You have to sit sushi bar, traditional, hibachi. If you want a drink other than wine or saki you have to sit at the bar. If you want some hibachi & sushi forget it. Wont happen. The place might have started out nice but now its run down. Might chair was falling apart. The chair next to mine had so much wood glue pouring out of every joint. I got the tempura udon. What a disaster. The tempura shrimp was soggy, the fish cake was cold & uncooked, they put spinach instead of Wakame. Flavorless & disappointing. By the end of the night I really regretted going to nakato. Left so angry. I could have made better udon out of a package. Lastly a group of people came out beating drums so loud I almost yelled are you serious. Were in a restaurant not a football game. Horrible place will never go back. Worst part is I read all the 5 star review but after eating there I realized the these people have no idea what good japanese cuisine is. Theyve probably never been out of Georgia or never been to Japan. Dont believe the 5 star reviews. Very misleading. Door handles almost fell off as we left. Then had to wait in the cold for a ridiculous amount of time for the valet that you have to use since you cant park without using. Sad thing is I just keep finding more & more problems with this place.

As hibachi style places go, Nakato is a decent choice. Im not going to give them a glowing review, but Im not going to tarnish their image either. We have actually dined here 2-3 times, but this latest time was on Valentines Day. When we arrived we were promptly seated at a almost-full hibachi table (which is great, because I hate being seated as the first party at a hibachi table). Our drink orders were taken swiftly as well, but after we had sipped a bit of green tea the table attendant (not the hibachi chef), filled our tea cup with soup broth... and it was not a pleasant flavor when mixed with the green tea. They did apologize and correct the error, but at first the table attendant didnt want to believe we had just been served soup as a beverage. The side salad and soup (the actual soup that comes with your hibachi meal) were standard hibachi quality. I got the hibachi scallops and my wife got the hibachi shrimp. We felt that these were very good. Interestingly, Nakato serves noodles (along with rice) when eating hibachi. I dont think Ive ever encountered another hibachi restaurant that does that... but its a good wrinkle in their experience. The veggies, rice, and noodles were great as well. I do think their prices are a little higher than most hibachi restaurants (many of which offer coupons), but I would be willing to go back to Nakato sometime soon.
