My husband and I went here today and we had a fabulous experience! Our service was great and most of our food was awesome. We love sushi, weve had sushi from Minneapolis, DC & Charleston. We have been to ATL 5 times and this was our best experience so far. We went there specifically for their sushi. We sat at the sushi car, ordered 5 rolls and soup & salad came out within minutes. They have a ginger, lemon peanut vinaigrette as their dressing which was delicious! The miso soup was ok. We ordered the Hawaiian, Home Depot, Godzilla, Geisha & the Baked Salmon rolls. Hawaii: Phenomenal! The chef makes it with coconut shrimp. I loved it because it does not have any sauce on top of it. Home Depot: Also phenomenal! This is made with fried sea scallops with a cream sauce on top that was great! Godzilla: This was ok. This roll was made really large (2x the size of a normal roll). It was deep fried and drench in a a nonviscous brown sauce that wasnt sweet. The roll fell apart because it was not rolled tight. I would not recommend this roll. Geisha: This was the normal plenty of fish with sauce roll, similar to a rainbow roll. Baked Salmon Roll: This was interesting. We did not care for it. The roll consisted of salmon & parmesan cheese on top, then baked. The cheese added a different flavor that we did not like with our sushi. The waitresses were really nice and on top of their game. I had plenty of water! The sushi chef gave us some japanese rice and seaweed to go because we were "out of towers", it was on the house. It was mighty nice of him! We would definitely go back to try their other rolls!

If you are looking for a scene; trendy music, waitstaff in couture, and prices to match, Sushi Huku is probably not for you. But if you are looking for the freshest possible fish for your nigiri sushi or sashimi accompanied by attentive service, this traditional Japanese sushi restaurant and bar fits the bill. While we are certainly not sushi experts by any stretch, my wife and I have had sushi at dozens of places in the U.S. including NYC, LA, SF, Honolulu, etc, as well as in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, Hakone). The freshest we have ever had is probably the fish market in Tokyo (Tsukiji) but if you are in Atlanta and cannot hop a 12 hour flight, Huku is probably the next best thing. And you dont have to wait in a queue 45 people deep at 7am either. Comparing sushi joints on their rolls is a lot like comparing vodka in mixed drinks; it is so hard to tell the true flavor of the main ingredient. So if you are in the mood for a little culinary roadtrip, order "omakase" and let J or Brandon select what is fresh that day and serve it to you. We do miss the camaraderie that the former owner, Fukuya-san had created at Sushi Huku, but with all due respect to our fellow diners, we are there for the fish, and that has not changed a bit. Enjoy!

Ive been to many Sushi places around North Atlanta, this is by far the best. Freshest fish you can find. Every roll is perfect and the Nigiri pieces are huge. Recommend the Cherry Blossom Roll (keep it simple, salmon, tuna, avocado) and the yellowtail, it is so tender it melts in your mouth. If you like a little tempura, this is the place. I usually dont get tempura fried rolls because most places cover the roll with batter and you cant even taste whats inside. Many of their tempura rolls are only lightly battered and then the rice cover is wrapped around. So the tempura batter isnt overwhelming. A little pricey ($5-10 for nigiri & small rolls, $10-15 for special rolls), but you pay for what you get! Im long gone from the days of $1 sushi & CA rolls in college. The atmosphere and services is outstanding as well. Sushi-Huku is the best!!!!

They clearly dont know understand the meaning of reservations. My husband made reservations here for Valentines day at 8:30. When we arrived, there were 3 other couples there with reservations for the same time. We all sat for about 20 minutes....2 of the couples had left at this point, when the hostes came back out and offered us a spot at the bar, 2 tiny seats that they squeezed together in a spot made for one person. After declining, they offered a seat at a communal table where everyone was sitting on the floor with their shoes off. We declined and ate elsewhere. When I make reservations, I expect the restaurant to RESERVE a table for that time, not offer a seat at the bar elbow to elbow with people touching me on either side, or a space on the floor with a strangers bare foot next to my food.

I have been living in the area for about three years and have been a regular for about two after trying it out on a whim. The location is a bit random but dont let that fool you it’s totally authentic and super yummy! My husband and I eat here once a week and usually sit at the bar. Well order some of our favorites or just tell the sushi chef to make us something and he always delivers. Some of my off the menu favorites: Home Depot its tempura scallop wrapped with rice topped with a yummy house made sauce the price isnt bad either $10. The Hawaiian roll is another favorite. And the chef has bad us many great rolls I dont know the name of. :) The Rolls are great and the price is average for FRESH good sushi. Try it out you will not be disappointed!!!!!!!

After seeing all the positive reviews were were excited to come here. We arrived at 11:30 just as they opened. There were already people lined up so this was a good sign. We didnt get our food until 12:15. Our service was slow and short and to top it off there was no wifi. Our sushi was good but not good enough to make us wait. I have been to several other sushi places Im north Georgia that are cheaper and better and much faster. So I dont really plan on coming back On a side note there is no kids menu either so you must order an adult entree. We ordered 1 bento box for 13.99 that fed 2 4 year old boys. The green tea is served in glasses with no handles so you might have to wait for it to cool down to drink.

I found this little gem while on a business trip a few weeks ago. I was pretty unimpressed with dining options in the area and though I would google sushi spots near my hotel to see if anything seemed worthwhile. To my delight, this placed popped up and I went and sat at the sushi bar. The chef told me what was fresh and served me large, beautiful nigiri and an amazing roll. I purposely booked the same hotel next time I got back for business so I will be close to the sushi :)

Tried out this place for the first time tonight on the recommendation of this site and I was not disappointed. Everyone we talked to waiting to be seated asked if it was our first time there and commented on this being one of their favorite restaurants in the metro area. Warm washcloths are brought to the table and the sushi choices are imaginative and delicious! My favorite was the Home Depot! Service was excellent, friendly and fast.
