This is the sole reason i came to chicago for my anniversary. For a taste of home, which i havent had for almost 10 years. The food was all fantastic and its very well priced! Every bulgarian and american wanting good bulgarian food must come here and try it! It gets busy around 8 pm but the waiters were very friendly and nice. Maja mi i as doidohme v chicago samo zaradi bukgarskata hrana. Ne sam yala bulgarska hrana ot 10 godini i toi nikoga ne opital. Malincho ni kaza da doidem tyk i ne sme razocharovani. Mnogo sam shastliva che yadohme tyk. Vsichko beshe syper i mnogo dobri biaha tsenite. Vseki balgarin i amerikanets koito iska balgaraka hrana koito e v chicago triabva da yade tyk. V 8 chasa vecherta stava zaeto ama servitiorite biaha mnogo dobri. Nazdrave!

Nice atmosphere but poor service. Ordered a "sach Mehanata" and told the waitress to have all meat chicken not pork. When meal came I noticed that there were not french fries/ the picture in menu shows french fries/.When I asked her about french fries she said" the french fries are inside" There was nothing inside. Secondly, all meat was mix of chicken and pork and bacon:(.Not only that , but also chicken nuggets for the kids were with a musty smell. We paid around 100 $ and I had dinner at home :). Only the cake was really good. Im Bulgarian but I will think twice before eating in Bulgarian restaurant.

Went here with my father the other day. Besides being charged 99cents for mustard, the food was very good. No complaints there. But unfortunately i will NEVER go back here. As others have pointed out, the service is by far the worst ive seen. Our waitress barely came to our table, our drinks were not refilled (i had to go to the bar to get extra water), questions were answered like i was annoying her. I was very uncomfortable. Im sure business is good here, BUT, it could be a lot better, im sure, if the service was better.

Terible and slow service. You can easily wait simple thing for 45 minutes or more (if they dont forget to put your order). Manager doesnt speak English so you cant really make any complaints! All tables are reserved all the time and if there is two of you, you wont get a table, so you sit at the bar and see that table you wanted remains unused for an hour. Its always like that. 30% of visits you will be server cold food (that you waited for a looong time.

Ive never eaten at a Bulgarian restaurant before, but ai would compare it to Greek food a little bit. The service was top notch, very friendly and very attentive. The food was all fresh and extremely tasty. I had the pork and chicken grilled combo and it was fantastic. The pita was amazing, the calamari was tender and tasty. I am definitely coming back here, I was blown away.

After todays visit , i definitely would not came in again. I got a BLOND waiter, that was amazingly rude that have no idea of manners and on her face mimics . And acting like she needs a 3rd leg in her but ! Defenetly had some problems and acting rude to restaurant guests. Never eat again . I wod get 0 for service .

The food is great if you are from East Europe.The most people who write this reviews and are very pleased with this restaurant,are imigrants from East Europe.In that part of the world waiting 45 min for your food is very common.But if you are used to american quality of services,you will find this very frustrating.

Хорошее место, но очень громкая музыка. Шашлык и пилешки хапки- шикарны, а вот блюда, которые принесли нашим друзьям оказались не по вкусу :(

Poor service: appetizer cold and main course sat extended time waiting for waitress to retrieve and bring to table. Fries were good, but barely warm. Grilled.meat was tasty and was actually warm, not hot, but at least warm. Had ice tea and was never asked if I would like refill.

Its a family ran restaurant. Dont let the family ran part make you think its sub par. I had lamb chops and a nice salad. A few of the chops were over done, thats the reason for 4 star. They spoke Bulgarian the whole time I was there. I kinda enjoyed it. I would do it again.

Authentic Bulgarian food and culture. The place serves delicious food and typical Bulgarian drinks. Servers are polite and knowledgeable. Could be noisy at times with large parties, but its always been a pleasure visiting this place and enjoying the food in nice company.

This place is fantastic. The food is a mix between Mediterranean and and grilled meats and sausages. From the salads to the grills to the platters, all the food is great. Highly recommended for lunches and dinners. The cost is on par with most casual dining establishment.

Unbelievable rude customer service! All the food took 2 hours to show up and the order was messed up.. No one cares including the manager! I would like to speak with the owner but they refused to give me their number! Will not be returning ever again!!!!!!

Im glad my friend introduced me to this place. The appetizer with the salmon was out of this world and the shishkabobs were to die for! Surprised that it wasnt too expensive! Friendly staff, outdoor seating, and good food; what more can I ask for?

The only Bulgarian place where the food is tasty. I have been at Mehanata few times and always ordered their tasty stuffed peppers and "paniran kashkaval"- to die for. The service is great. I always take my non- Bulgarian friends to this place.

Food its ok but the service is horrible, its to slow and serves like in Europe dont care about clients. Plus we have dinner 4 adults and 2 kids (7 month old and 4 years) at the end we had been charged 18%gratuity because we been 6 people)).

My favorite restaurant in ALL of the United States. This place is amazing! Selection is great and everything is fresh. From entrees to deserts, its all great! Bulgarian beer rocks! Every time I eat there the place exceeds my expectations!
