I read the reviews and was misled into thinking this was a great breakfast place. It is not. I ordered eggs over medium and they came out with runny clear whites. I asked the waitress to show the cook but instead she just threw the eggs in a bus tub and went back to the kitchen. She came back with another pair of uncooked eggs. My sons potatoes were not even fully cooked through. My other guest ordered biscuits and Gravy and the biscuits came out cold and stale. We had a pretty good view of the kitchen and we watched them make several orders. They just left the biscuits out on the counter. Of course they came out cold and stale! After my disappointment returning my eggs I decided to just pay the bill and learn a lesson. Here is where the worst part comes in! After my terrible meal I was forced to stand in line in the lobby where the cash register is. $64 plus tip for three people. I have eaten here for the last time. Poor service, poor food and an overall poor dinning experience. Save your wallet and heartache and just get the cheap breakfast at one of the hotels. When I say I was mislead, what I meant was you cant just trust a 4 star rating. If you read some of the reviews people talk about getting cold food and poor service but then gave it 4 stars. I have no idea why a reviewer would do that. I think this is just one of those trendy places that is riding popularity but not earning it.

Holy seafood heaven! Husband and I are visiting NYC for a romantic valentines weekend. We were worried about a long wait at this no-reservation restaurant, but no one on Yelp seemed to mind a 2 hour wait for the spectacular food that Upstate serves. Saturday night around 7 we were quoted 30 mins and waited 20 (disclaimer - it was negative 15 windchill). We had a drink in a nearby bar, then returned to Upstate with our table waiting for us. I read a lot of great reviews on the service. Our server was great! A dead ringer for Dane Cook, in both looks and slight dicky-attitude. He had us order everything at once so he/the kitchen could pace our meal well. I appreciated that! We had a dozen oysters - he helped us choose. All were amazing and fresh. So worth it. We also ordered the Uni - which came with crusty bread, salmon roe, a carrot purée, and an egg yolk. Seekingly random mix, but the sweet carrot and egg complimented the salty Uni and roe. Mix it up and spread on the bread. So good. For our mains, I had the fettuccini with clams and Jake had the scallops with mushroom risotto. The fettuccine is a must-try. Best thing Ive had in NY so far. The scallops were perfectly seared and the mushroom risotto was so rich and delicious. I cant stop raving about this place - great ambiance and even better food

Went here twice over the course of my four days in Chicago. First things first, the service is amazing. Every single person working there is so warm and kind, you immediately feel at home. On to the food. The first time I went there I got the chicken and waffles with a fried egg. It was good, but for some reason the flavors didnt really come together for me. I pinned it down to either just a hair too much pepper on the chicken, or the sausage gravy. The strawberry orange juice is amazing though and I highly recommend you try it. Obviously, this wasnt a deal breaker because I came back the next morning. This time I got the Farmhouse, which is sausage, gravy and eggs. This was excellent! Biscuits were tender and flaky, the sausage gravy was perfectly seasoned. Would recommend getting your eggs on the side if youre not a fan of mixing your foods. I also got the cheesy grits. Im from the south and make cheesy grits all the time, so it might be unfair for me to critique this one. I usually load my grits with cheese, so for me they could have used more cheese. But thats just me nit picking. Overall, an excellent breakfast spot. Would recommend you go just for the great service alone, but the food is also excellent.

Went to Yolk maybe expecting too much. Got the South of the Border Benny and was under impressed. The chorizo was dry, the parched eggs did not even run when broken they were over cooked therefore making the entire dish too dry. Another person at our table ordered the same thing and had the same experience. My wife ordered eggs over medium-well and they brought eggs over easy. Her eggs were more runny that the poached eggs on the Benny. When we complained the waitress told her eggs over medium well are where the white is cooked and the yolks are completely runny?? Is that not eggs over easy? She said she would do them over hard and brought back eggs with a broken yolk that were brown from being cooked so long. You would think a place called yolk would specialize in perfect eggs. Over medium-well is supposed to have to yolk no broken and the yolk be hard yet still appear wet. Anyways. To sum it up we expected much more from a place called yolk and to fail on three different egg preparations was not good.

Colorful, clean, & quick! Yolk was a brunch destination after my segway tour of Chicago. It was pretty busy for 1pm on a Friday, so this place had to be good! I loved the design and color of the resturant. It was very inviting and definitly feels like the start of a day with the yellows and blues spanning the view. We sat in the front window corner booth with the view of Grant Park, which was a great, cozy seat for me and my wife. I ordered a raspberry tea and the chicken and waffles with sausage gravy & homestyle potatos. My wife had a raspberry lemonade and something like a southwestern skillet with pancackes. Our drinks arrived after about three minutes, and then I went to wash my hands. By the time I made it back to the table..OUR FOOD WAS THERE! Very quick service, and very good food! Ill stay away from the raspberry drinks however since each sip came with a mouthfull of seeds. Total bill came to about $36. Will definitly head back when in the area!

Ridic! Seriously. Okay, so I had the cinnamon roll French toast. Now, you need to love cinnamon. You also need to love cinnamon rolls. And, you need to love sweet. I mean insane sweetness. This was like a breakfast dessert like no other. It melted in my mouth and was a beautiful mix of cinnamon sweetness egg and syrup. It felt a lot like the scene where Will Ferrell was making his breakfast with the family in the movie Elf. It was that sweet but I felt like him because it tasted that good. The fresh orange juice was very good as well. The service was very good. Be prepared to wait though. This is a very popular spot. Its well worth the wait, but you are likely going to wait. Atmosphere, quite loud. Hustle and bustle big open room with hard floors. Sound bounces around everywhere. But you dont mind though because the food is incredible. Would I go back? Absolutely. No question.
