I can just hear Tim Gunn entering Yolk now, he would 100% say WTF. Yes I know hes a fashion designer, but he would definitely not approve of the elementary design. Despite Yolks horrible interior decorator it has always been one of my favorite brunch places in Chicago. Which considering how many brunch places this city holds are a huge honor. How am I able to make this claim despite their bright blue and yellow block interior you ask? Yolks egg entrees come with your choice of toast, pancakes or English muffin. Yes, you read right, this gives you the option for a savory entree with a side of sweet, and their pancakes are thin with a bit of crisp skin, perfection! Also, Its practically impossible not to take a to-go container home, which is one of my key determining brunch success factors. I went on a weekday morning so I cant comment on the wait times on weekends but I can say everyone was very nice and the food was on point. I had The Works omelet ($11.49) , with a side of fruit and their delicious pancakes I had an amazing brunch with enough left over for 2 meals!! Yolk is definitely on my brunch rotation now that its in the hood.

I really am in love with their menu selections. I highly recommend you make a reservation to this hot-spot, to avoid an average 20 minute wait. Their eggs benedicts, fruit salads, crepes are all consistent quality. Prices are pretty average for brunch. Waiters are polite and tidy. I would have rated higher if it wasnt for the VERY distracted hostesses. On my multiple visits there were two who would rather finish their conversation than attend to guests. To the manager, they are nice girls, but they need to be more attentive.

Its a pretty decent place for brunch but it wasnt really especially memorable for me. Our party of 4 went around 10:30 AM and had to wait outside for a while along with a few other groups (not unexpected since it was peak brunch hours). The portions were generous, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were nice. The poached egg of one of my friends eggs benedict was overcooked and she was pretty disappointed with that. I wouldnt mind coming here again but I probably wouldnt seek it out.

A great neighborhood spot for breakfast, much better than the various other incarnations that this restaurant location has assumed over the past decade. In the early mornings, the place is full with runners, seniors, and young families. Later in the morning, once the rest of the neighborhood wakes up, it gets super packed. But worth the wait. I prefer this location to all the other Yolk locations.

Yolk is great. The menu wasnt exactly what I was looking for, but I built my own skillet, and it was everything I was hoping for. Expect a little wait if you come here, but its always worth it. Bonus: they have a new signature hot sauce. Its essentially Tabasco sauce with a small mix of Cholula. Its not bad. Definitely holds its own as far as hot sauces go.

No flavor to my food and they forgot the main side ingredient of the omelet I ordered. I then was questioned if maybe I missed the avocado in my omelet and basically had to eviscerate it to prove to the waitress before she would get me avocado. Then I waited 5 minutes and her two rounds of the dining hall to get it and my omelet was cold.

Delicious! My sister and I stopped in for a late breakfast. This was our first visit and we both have nothing but good things to say about Yolk. Service was warm and friendly. It was hard to decide on what to order, everything sounded so good! Our food were generous proportions and scrumptious! Will come back again!

Great spot for breakfast in Lakeview. The staff is always welcoming and delivers prompt service. They have a lot of options to accommodate all allergies and diet choices. They offer Canyon Bakehouse gluten free bread here which is a huge plus in my book.

Amazing chicken and waffles! The cinnamon roll French toast was so delicious and they had some of the best cheese grits Ive ever eaten. Service was good, not too crowded, and a good spot for brunch and conversation with friends

Loved the atmosphere! Wait wasnt long at all, even though it was packed. Food was great portions and super filling. Our server was extremely helpful and he even helped me pick out Tshirts for souvenirs!

The food was mostly fine, though the chicken breast we received with chicken and waffles was like fried rubber. Workflow was very poor from the moment we walked in and service was mediocre.

Decent coffee service for cold mornings when youre waiting for a surgery to get done. Terrible vegan options. Ten bucks for boring oatmeal. Nothing else vegan on the menu.

Yolk seriously came through and gave me a brunch that I will not ever forget. Tasty and hot- Yolk hits the spot for your breakfast craving. Do prepare to wait though.

Kale chicken salad delicious. Service just a touch slow. My friend had a tiny eggshell in his eggs benedict, but otherwise delicious. Id come back. Nice atmosphere.

In two experiences, the food was acceptable but both two different servers were not. I expected this place to have a friendlier environment.

For a $20 breakfast, the hash browns werent crispy, the fruit salad was mostly grapes, and the pork belly wasnt crispy. Very disappointed.

I love yolk. The breakfasts are amazing just be careful when you go because they get crowded quick in the morning.
